Thanks MsStinkerBelle! Nice to see you again! I remember chatting with you last year when I almost made it to the Poly, but ended up at the WL instead. I'm finally living my Poly dream and will be there in three weeks! Glad to hear there's a more direct bus from the TTC, and even more glad about the juice...will save me having to pack juiceboxes in the suitcase :thumbsup2

I know this sounds like sacrilege, but Tikiman is wrong.

uh oh! So is it a total nightmare to get to DTD then? How long does it generally take?

Just take the bus fromk Poly. It'll stop at Grand Floridian, and then will go to DTD. No nightmare. It's no different than taking a bus to some other places.

Likewise! I *knew* I remembered your username from somewhere. :goodvibes So glad to hear you'll finally be making it to the Poly!

Still, it isn't a bad idea to pack some juice boxes. I always bring some anyway to keep with me when we're in the parks. :thumbsup2

I don't think I've ever been so unhappy about giving out correct advice before...

And here I was, hoping that what the CMs told me was wrong...:)

I have a feeling we may taking taxis there if the wait for the bus takes too long.

You know, we *almost* did this because the wait was so @*$(@$ long for a bus. THe only reason we didn't was because as soon as we turned to go get one of the taxis lined up, the bus we needed showed up.

Frankly, I'd vote to take the taxi both ways. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info! I don't understand this, since people go to DTD to shop and spend money. Why would Disney (as a for-profit corporation) want to make it so no-one wants to go there (or make it so that by the time you get there, you're so tired that you don't feel like shopping anymore)?

They should make it so easy to go there any spend money -- that way they'd be sure to get more of our's.:)

This might be Disney heresy but if I didn't have a car, I'd bypass DTD. Most of the merchandise can be found in the parks or resorts. There are plenty of restaurants to patronize without venturing over there. The stoplights alone in the area guarantee a long ride unless the buses only go the back route (and it doesn't sound like they do...perhaps they can't). My time in WDW is too short to wait for infrequent buses with multiple resort stops as well as multiple stops in DTD itself.

Thank you for your honesty! I think I needed to hear this to remind me why I didn't try to go there the last time when I was over at the WL. I think I'd rather spend my time relaxing around the Poly instead

I so agree....relaxing at the Polynesian or taking hours to go to DTD...no contest.

For this reason we do not go to DTD and really don't plan to. We spend enough $$ in the parks and at the resort shops.

I usually "hop" over to DTD when I want to go there, and I try to get there at least once during my stays.

I'll usually take the bus from whatever park I'm at to POR or POFQ, and then hop on the boat to get there. I found it painful to take a bus to DTD from everywhere except from AKL.

Can anyone tell me (in my ignorance) if you can catch resort buses from the TTC? I keep getting the TTC and the bus stop at MK confused, and I think I've done so again.

If you want to visit other resort by bus, you can get them at the Magic Kingdom. The only Disney buses at the TTC go to Hollywood Studios and the Animal Kingdom.

I was there just a week ago and found the busses to be wonderful. We actually left Epcot one day and decided to go to DTD, so we had to go to a resort first then transfer to another bus to go to DTD. Even that wasn't bad. However it is just long ride with lots of stops. To get back to the Poly we waited about 5 minutes for a bus, but it stopped a couple of times (at another section of DTD) before actually heading to the resorts area. It was a long ride and was standing room only. I was happy that I went because I enjoyed going to Goofy's Candy Company and World of Disney. But I wouldn't say it is a must-see, especially if you are pressed for time or patience. LOL

That makes sense! So I can just take the monorail to MK, and then get on a resort bus to POR or POFQ to get to DTD. We usually go to DTD on our "no park" days, and that way we get to "visit" POR as well. ;)

I'll have to use the same trick to get to BC for our dinner ressie at Cape May Cafe too I think - unless DS16 can come up with a better way. Thanks! :)

Yes that makes sense, although when going to Downtown Disney there is a bus from the Polynesian. However if you plan to visit POR or POFQ then it's not a bad idea.

If anybody has any extra coupons for the Sea Raycers, I would love to get a hold a couple before our July trip. We rented these last year, and had a blast.
