:beach:

Thank you! Right now I'm just hoping Nic wakes up feeling better. :)

Nope, no pop machine. Also you can let people know that every entrance to the quiet pool area is closed due to construction/renovations at this time. So they'll need to take the main exit out the back of the lobby, walk down towards the lake and turn left like they're going to Epcot. Then enter the quiet pool area from behind the building where those bathrooms are. At this time there is no other way to get down there.

Eeek! Is there any way for you to ask if this will be more opened up within the next few weeks? We arrive at BC on 8/19 and admittedly, cutting through the quiet pool, or the secret Epcot entrance is a big plus. In the August heat, we like to remain in the AC as long as possible!

View attachment 112969 One thing about these new room shades, you sure don't have to worry about oversleeping. They barely block out the light.

Eeek! I LOVE the black-out curtains. This is a disappointment, but I think the rest of the room renovations are so stunning that I'm willing to forgive it. I also swear I've seen some renovated rooms with back out curtains. I think again perhaps, you've fallen victim to the fact that there are many different configurations of rooms at BC/YC.

This is the first time we've celebrated one of the boys birthdays at the BC CL where they didn't leave a birthday card or autograph photo. Usually they also bring a balloon and/or candy. But nothing this time. I thought the cards were pretty standard, but maybe they're cutting back on birthday acknowledgements. It's not a big deal, but I did note on our reservation he was turning 16 this week.

We found the same thing. At BC they at least got buttons and the CM mentioned it to the two of them. WL CL did nothing at all. No buttons, no mention, nothing.

I think this is becoming a "thing," because my sister got engaged at WL-CL last month, and though they were thrilled to be engaged, and had a great trip, they really felt like no one really acknowledged their engagement much. Now, I'm not saying they were fishing for free stuff, but I think what has happened is that now everyone at WDW is celebrating something...from a birthday, to an engagement, to their honeymoon, to graduation, to paying off credit card debt, to making it through all the seasons of "Lost," etc. I fear that the spontaneous magic that WDW used to be able to do for people celebrating has now become the expectation, and while I'm sad that Disney has chosen to just cut back, I understand why.

From what I can see they have just started on the first floor so I'm sure it will take some time to complete. Not only are the rooms gutted but the hallways have been stripped bare and shut down. You can no longer walk any further than the Marketplace, and the secret entrances/exits are all locked.

We just celebrated my grandson's 8th birthday at BC earlier this month. He didn't receive anything either. Just the Birthday Button. Last year at WL he received a phone call in the room from Mickey, balloons and a card. It seems like every year they take away a little more of the magic.

The birthday card/autograph card use to be a given on CL. But they might have decided to phase it out.

I wasn't counting on anything special but since it's his 16th I thought maybe something would show up. Also I had his birthday celebration noted on ALL our dining reservations and he never got a happy birthday at any of those locations either. :/

As far as I can tell, only the rooms with dormer balconies which have the door and a window, rather than a sliding glass door, have the Roman shades. The rooms that have the sliding glass doors have full size black out curtains.

I agree it can get out of hand and expectations for "stuff" can get to be just too much. I really didn't expect anything to be done. I was happy that the "kids" (one turned 21 the other 19 while we were there) got the buttons and a happy birthday from the CMs. I was just surprised when we got to WL that they didn't even say Happy Birthday to my son-it was noted. Not that they had to, just the CMs in the parks were more likely to say something if they saw the button.

See, this is interesting cause I read on another thread that a couple got engaged at WL a month or so ago and they were given the presidential suite. Talk about feast or famine!

Erika- Hope Nic feels better! Especially on his birthday!!!!!
Cant wait to see your GF pics

Oh! That was them. That was me that told the story. The hotel was fine. They felt that park cast members and restaurants etc. did very little to acknowledge their engagement. Again, they were absolutely not fishing, but just in the past they have been there for birthdays, their anniversary etc., and Felt like they got a much bigger response.

We have arrived! :)

We decided to take a taxi over to the GF and I'm so glad we did because our room was ready. (Didn't get the text until after we were already in our room so this was a pleasant surprise) We are in Sugarloaf on the 3rd floor, marina side. There is a tree outside of our window blocking most of the view but if we look to the right we can see the monorail and the tippy top of BTMRR.

Totally different check-in experience here versus the BC. We were greeted at the front entrance and escorted to Sugarloaf by Marie, a really friendly and welcoming CM. She took us directly to our room where the bellman had already arrived and was moving our luggage in for us. Both of these CMs went OUT OF THEIR WAY to make sure we were well taken care of. After unloading our luggage the bellman went and got us a tray full of Coke, Diet Coke, glasses of ice, and bottled water, placed the extras in our fridge, and also filled our ice bucket. I have to say this was the first time in 7 days I felt like anyone cared that we were here.

Connor says this is his new favorite club level because the MILK was out (at the BC CL you have to ask for it) and they have goldfish. :rotfl:

Hello friend! Thanks for the shoutout in your first post! I totally wish we could have extended our trip by another week. Your pictures of the BC CL lounge made me homesick! I noticed a few new appetizers that we didn't see when we were there but I bet they were offered on nights we didn't make it into the lounge for appetizers. And I can't believe I didn't notice SAB sells Dole Whips! None of my kids noticed it either! We always had lunch from HH and since we were on the dining plan and dessert came with our meal, we never took notice of what they were selling in the snack shack.

My in-laws had a room with those same corners as your room did at BC. It definitely made the room feel smaller. They had three people in their room as well and no daybed.

Your tour of the Four Seasons was awesome! How did you sign up for it? As a TA I was able to tour the Fantasy but didn't realize we could tour the Four Seasons, too.

Your room at GF looks beautiful! Enjoy the rest of your trip! Hope your son is feeling better today! And Happy Birthday to him! Our oldest daughter turned 16 on July 26. Our original plan was for us to be in WDW for her actual birthday but then real life changed our plans....our oldest two had to be back for the start of band on Monday the 27th so we came home on the 25th. :(
