The Magic Of Happiness Is Here! A Tokyo TR Update 8/19

Loving you trip report we were there last year and returning Tokyo in June not sure we will make it to Disney Sea this year as so much want to see in TOKYO Ilove Galatoni my daughter and i brought a Galotoni cat we saw Duffy i know they started meet n greets with Galtoni this year maybe we will fit in a day as i wanted to ride Alladdins carpets didnt get to do it.

Got behind but I am all caught up now! Tokyo Disney Sea looks amazing! That Agrabah area though

How lucky you had Alicia with you so you had an "in" with Jack Sparrow...he looks like he was a ton of fun!

You've gotten some great pictures! Can't wait to read more!

WOW, meeting Jack Sparrow again? That's great!

So the Indiana Jones Adventure is the same or similar to the one at Disneyland? I've been on the DL one several times, so I'm just curious.
And this wasn't even the last time!
I'm not sure if it is similar, I believe it is but I've never been on it at DL

Thank you! There is so much to see in Tokyo, I hope you have another great visit!
Gelatoni is so cute I love him. We didn't get to the carpets either this trip.

It is so detailed and such a big area of the park.
it was great to meet him so many times and an on going joke to see how many times we could meet him in one day.

Life Under The Sea Is Better

After the adventure with Indy we headed out of the Lost River Delta. On our way back to the Arabian Coast we spotted a custodial CM with a talking trash can, clearly everything is better in Tokyo.
At the Arabian coast we had 2 things we needed to do, Alicia wanted a picture with Rajah and we needed to ride the carpets. The carpets are just the same in the states but its a sister thing that we already have to ride them. We got the picture but waited to do the carpets later (spoiler alert: we never got to them)

26889919536_82e97beba6_z.jpg

Instead we walked through the “market place” of the Arabian coast where we got in long to take a picture with the camel. This little walkway has so many different photo op areas but many people also line up for each little thing.

26889919106_205f520237_z.jpg

After a quick photo op we headed back to the fortress…if you didn’t guess it by now we went to meet Jack. What can I saw Alicia is obsessed with him and needed to feed him popcorn. I guess he always asks people for popcorn but they technically aren’t allowed to feed them. This was going to change all that.
We searched all around the fortress and found him meeting up on the ship. Alicia fed him some white chocolate popcorn, OISHI!

We were about to leave when he said he needed a picture with Marisa and I, this time we took it with Alicia’s Polaroid camera. “Give them the creepy eyes!”

26338695374_397cff90ba_z.jpg

That was the last time we met jack sparrow on this trip.
Next we headed too 20,000 leagues under the sea. Of my Disney knowledge this was at WDW but closed in Sept 1994, according to my mother I never went on it. So this was pretty exciting, I knew what the old attraction was like from stories my parents told me. But this was completely different.

First of all I was really disappointed that we didn’t actually go underwater. You enter not the nautilus but a bubble submarine that seats 2 people per window. Then once your start your journey bubble rise up on the screen making you think you're under water. Then you use a flashlight to view whats lies 20,000 leagues under the sea. It may not have been the original but it was still pretty cool.
Once coming back to dry land we decided to head back under the sea and explore Mermaid Lagoon.

26318189534_e3914a7a5f_z.jpg

When you first walk into the “castle” you are welcomed by a king triton statue.

26889955526_a45b71c278_z.jpg

26318188314_c29e0218ef_z.jpg

If you go up to the statue and looked down you will see down into the Ariel playground where she keeps all her who's its and whats its.

26318186364_b9d5a42089_z.jpg

You head down a ramp/walkway to Tritons kingdom and enter a huge building, which is basically Disney Sea’s kiddie land. But a pretty cool kiddie land.

26318184374_a95012c7b0_z.jpg

Here they have a few kiddie rides that we didn’t bother with, a quick service restaurant, gift shop, mermaid lagoon theater and Ariels playground.

Alicia wanted to put on her “duffy” tights, so Marisa and I decided to look around Ariel’s playground until we got a text from Alicia.
Ariel’s playground is a pretty fun spot to hang out at. There are multiple little area that have fun activities.
There is a little maze for kids to “get lost” in. A pirate ship to play on, a dark room that leaves shadows on the wall.
Marisa’s favorite thing was the sail bouncer, which all you did was bounce against 2 sheets and yet it was so entertaining.

26319532903_240e3c461f_z.jpg

My favorite area was Ariel’s grotto but we somehow found our way through ursula’s lair before making it to the grotto.

26318178024_cd4ab94c79_z.jpg

But when you walk into the grotto it’s like stepping into the movie.

We’ve got who’s its and whats its galore

You want thing thingamabobs I’ve got 20

26319530893_67f7d338c3_z.jpg

By this time a lot of time went by and I was wondering why we hadn’t heard from Alicia. Turns out you don’t get any service while you’re under the sea so make sure you have your party together. Somehow we found her right away near the entrance of the playground.

26319525543_6dd9263eb4_z.jpg

Welcome under the sea where mostly all our food is fish friends…cause thats not weird at all.

26650546580_72a80a093f_z.jpg

By the exit of tritons kingdom there is a gift shop located in a whale. This is where we found some pretty awesome hats (which are REALLY popular!) and the cool $50 ariel shirt.

26889939566_3c2ec4d5e9_z.jpg

We left Tritons kingdom because we had to go meet the famous mermaid herself!

I wanted to go to Disney Sea when we lived in Asia, but I read some not awesome things and it seemed so expensive at the time! Gah!

I can't believe meeting Jack Sparrow AGAIN! You all are killing me with these TDS pics!

Thank you so much! Oh no, it was all but good things I experienced on this trip.

When We Hit A Wall

Alicia was a very close friend of Ariel and she wanted us to meet her. We were able to run a get fastpasses for the magic lamp show and back to Ariels grotto before her line closed off. Once arriving in the line they will ask you if you want a group picture/ solo pictures/ how many pictures total and give you a ticket. We were having a grand old time at the beginning of the wait. We had about a 20-30 minute wait ahead of us, we had to entertain ourselves in some way.

26375686643_5a6ebaa8b8_z.jpg

26979873485_9ddb923f0d_z.jpg

It was all fun and games until the sun started to set. It got chilly real quick and we hit a wall. All I wanted was my stitch onesie and a bed to sleep in. We were dying and it didn’t even feel like the line was moving. But shout out to the adorable chan children who kept us entertained.
After about 25 long minutes we saw the front of the line and that was one of the best feelings.
Once you get up to the front of the line you hand in the ticket you received when you got in line.
1 group photo, you better not make a stupid face or blink. Pressures on.

26911448281_eb258773b0_z.jpg

The dreadful wait was totally worth it, I’m not a huge “lets meet characters” because sometimes I just get really awkward meets. And thats probably just because of the person I am. But Ariel was perfect, precious and I loved her. She was kind enough to create all our poses for our group photo.
Just a mermaid with all her animal friends
Sebastian, Max and Scuttle

26979873355_75fe222452_z.jpg

And before we left Ariel did her impression of scuttle and it was on point. Like she won so many points for that.
After meeting ariel we were in need of getting inside a building for warmth. We headed back to Tritons to see if they had any more fastpasses for Tritons concert because Alicia said it was a pretty awesome show involving 1 girl and 2 puppeteers. Unfortunately all the fp were out. Marisa and I added it to the list of things we needed to see on our last day in the parks.
We headed back to the Arabian coast to get in line for the magic lamp theater.

26979872875_95ba5a57db_z.jpg

Alicia never did this attraction so it was new for all of us. And to be honest we couldn’t wait to go inside and sit.

26911447481_51f8b2f3ef_z.jpg

We were ushered into the pre-show area and given 3D glasses. So right away we though just a 3D show, thats cool. The pre-show was an animatronic snake in the middle of the room that told you a story…in japan. So basically I have no clue what he was saying. After a 5 minute pre-show you enter the theater. This was a lot cooler then just your regular 3D show. There was a live magic act performance and when the actors rubbed the magic lamp the genie came out on the 3D screen above. It was a cute show, even though I didn’t understand one thing they were saying. Then at the very end you get some 4D effects when you seats bounce up and down like you were on a magic carpet, which can hurt you if you’re not expecting it. Ask Marisa who was awoken thanks to being bounced awake.
We were all tired and cold and decided that we would do the carousel and call it a night.

26979872465_7458faedd0_z.jpg

There was no line for the carousel which was nice, we were sent up stairs to the second story and all I wanted was a Genie. But unfortunately they were all taken.

26375701653_d5cd47808c_z.jpg

26979872155_aa9c77fd59_z.jpg

It was only 7:30ish and we were beat. We were happy with everything we accomplished that night and were ready to leave. As we were heading out Fantasmic was just starting. That was the hardest part, Alicia kept yelling at me to just keep walking and don’t turn around and watch because that would ruin it for the night we were going to watch it. Then we also learned that it was to windy that night for fireworks so I’m glad we didn’t stay to watch it that night.
We walked through the gift shops and I kept my eyes open for things that I may want to purchase the next day we were here.
There was no way we were going to survive that 15 minute walk back to the station so we opted to pay the 260 yen to take the monorail back, I wasn’t mad at all about this decision.
The cute mickey handles and a cute baby chan sitting next to us.

26979871745_cf58137c3c_z.jpg

26375701573_d2d92dc253_z.jpg

The good thing was that we beat the fantastic crowds to the station. We had to walk through the mall like area to get back to the station, which was pretty packed and all I wanted was to sleep and be warm.
While waiting for our train Alicia met up with 2 girls she works with who had just gotten off from work over at Disneyland. The train ride home was packed and trying to get off was a nightmare. You basically have to push people down in order to get off.
Since we didn’t eat dinner tonight we headed to a restaurant at the train station we got off at that Alicia gets Butter chicken all the time at. She raved about this butter chicken and says its better then Animal Kingdom lodge, Sanaa’s butter chicken. Thats probably one of my favorite meals at WDW so I was ready to be the judge of Tokyos. We got butter chicken, butter rice and naan bread to go and decided to get a bus home.
By the time we got home it was probably one 8:30ish. Marisa was basically dead, she was mute the whole way home and I thought she was super crabby. Turns out she was just exhausted and passed out instantly once getting back to the apartment. Alicia and I decided to eat our butter chicken and watch a movie. We couldn’t get a movie to work so she put on some random Japan tv.

26979871475_b99f47567b_z.jpg

The butter chicken was good, I like Sanaa’s more though. I hardly made a dent and left it for the next day. Then I passed out before 9. Disney Sea seemed to take a lot out of us and we got to do it all again tomorrow but this time at Disneyland!

Pooh & Mickey Nuggets Are All I Need

We had another early 6:20 wake up call, this time it was just Marisa and I going to Disneyland because Alicia had work. This made things difficult when getting ready because we couldn’t just flip on all the lights in her one bedroom apartment. Today was also a day to layer up as much as possible because it was only 38 degrees out. We caught the 7:01 bus to the station where we had to put more money on our suica cards before catching the train. We ended up missing the train by like a minute so we had to wait about 10 minutes. This was our first “terrifying” train ride, we were pushed in and packed like sardines. Marisa looked at my in panic saying “My feet aren’t on the floor” Likely we only had to a few minutes of this grand experience before we had to push our way out.
Once arriving to Tokyo Disney we followed the crowds to the right and down to Disneyland. This was definitely a shorter walk then going to Disney Sea. Along with the cold temps it also decided to rain, it was just a cold wet mist but it could make anyone miserable. I just couldn’t understand how so many people were wearing shorts.

26936626752_dd2ea6c617_z.jpg

Before you get to Disneyland you will pass the Bon Voyage store which has some of the merchandise you can find in the parks.

We officially made it to Disneyland a half hour before it opened and the crowds to get in line at the entrance was crazy!

We somehow made it through bag check and waited for the park to open.

26962502851_d1b4a2860a_z.jpg

At 8 we were inching towards the turnstiles and watched everyone sprint once they were let into the park. Clearly Safe-D does not begin with them here.

26936604632_a3e5e1b1b4_z.jpg

There wasn’t any time for us to stop and take pictures, we had to get a move to tomorrowland to get my plan accomplished. First order of business, get fast passes for Monsters and go to Poohs to wait in the standby line.

26962505991_d2a47328ea_z.jpg

To be honest I thought I wasn’t going to be a fan of World Bazaar and the cover, but it was so nice to be covered from the rain, plus they had a side “Street” that headed straight to tomorrowland. This was great, we got the monster fastpasses and went to Poohs. Marisa’s tried to look for everything on the map, I didn’t have time for that. In my mind every disneyland/magic kingdom is basically laid out the same. keep walking through tomorrowland till you hit fantasyland.

26997798126_5e5ec2f20b_z.jpg

We found Pooh’s hunny hunt and jumped right in line, then we found out it was only a 20 minute wait. That was great!

Pooh’s is hands down probably the best ride in Tokyo Disneyland. I’m not the biggest pooh fan but this ride is fantastic.

26997786986_9212501d89_z.jpg

The trackless ride system is awesome, bouncing with Tigger is amazing, and the heffalump and woozles room i can’t even begin to explain how crazy is it. Tokyo Disney gets another 100 million points, and another reason why this park is so superior to any other Disney park.

26997784516_3102054932_z.jpg

Like any good disney attraction you are led into a gift shop, but first you walk through Christopher Robins bedroom

26757108880_802fe94336_z.jpg

26757103910_ec80eb50ba_z.jpg

And then we browsed the pooh shop

26757098920_96bd6c8b95_z.jpg

26997805116_c22fee1785_z.jpg

It was still rainy and cold so we wanted to find someone to get warm where Marisa could get some coffee. So we headed to Tomorrowland Terrace.
The difference between Disney Sea and Disneyland is that I can compare Disneyland to Magic Kingdom and how different they are. For example where Tomorrowland Terrance was located it was really be our Cosmic Rays.

26962697731_eecf558514_z.jpg

It was even 9am, so I wasn’t planning on getting anything until I saw the Mickey Mouse Chicken nuggets. Something I had always seen pictures of and needed them in my life.
A nice healthy breakfast. But they way we saw it, it was 8pm back home.

26962692291_9aaa132c8f_z.jpg

Marisa got coffee and fries, what a great combination

Those Mickey chicken nuggets are adorable! The special Easter merchandise at the eateries are so cute! We ate at Grandma Sara's Kitchen for lunch, and looking back, I really wish I bought some of the Easter food items that came with the souvenirs.

I would love more pics of TDL to see what I missed out on! The only attraction we did was It's a Small World, since I could barely get around. Darn that skateboarder, causing my injury just prior to our TDL day. :(

Hahaha, I'm still looking at your pictures and questioning if we were really at the same parks LOL. In all honesty, I really cannot remember Christopher Robbins bedroom! I'm sure we ended up in the shop, but the bedroom is not in my memory anywhere.
We did have the chicken nuggets though. Sooooo cute.

Edit...So, I just checked with my son. We didn't see the bedroom, but apparently we didn't come out in the gift shop either. Maybe there's another exit?

I love all the mickey shaped food there! Grandma Sara's kitchen was on my list of places to eat but we never made it there.
I have a ton of photos! Oh no, that sounds awful

It might have had 2 exits. Right when you got off the ride you are dropped off at what looks to be a little cottage. We walked through that, which was his bedroom. then that entered into the gift shop.

So Much Tokyo Merch

It was 9am Thursday morning in Tokyo meaning 8pm Wednesday back home which was a perfect time to FaceTime my friend Brittany who wanted to join along on this trip but couldn’t, she is basically one of the very few Disney obsessed people in my life. I showed her around tomorrowland since that is where we were and it was her home for our DCP. We headed towards the castle as I proceeded to tell Brittany that we would have to book another trip back here because she would just LOVE Disney Sea and she couldn’t go through life without experiencing it.

26457262714_4e521a75e1_z.jpg

It may be rainy and 40 degrees but at least we were in Disney!

26994405011_3a960ae288_z.jpg

We decided to stay around the Tomorrowland area as we waited for our fastpass time slot to open for Monsters. And what better way to waste time then to browse all the merchandise stores in sight. As Marisa would say “If I find hats or gloves in any of these stores I’m buying them”

27062504955_fb4c706929_z.jpg

26968290562_17fd915f1f_z.jpg

The first store, Planet M, which is home of all the Toy Story merchandise.

26968288732_ec3574af5b_z.jpg

(and because when I was doing my research of tokyo disney there was a lack of merchandise pictures so I made sure to take a lot)

27029527686_89cf965c6c_z.jpg

27062488025_523ece44d1_z.jpg

After Planet M we headed towards World Bazaar where we passed Pizza Port, which is a quick service with and upstairs and downstairs seating.

27062479555_1023621b31_z.jpg

Then star tours which was a huge building, and an attraction that we never made it too.

26994395371_587e0da426_z.jpg

Next up was Toy Station that connects to many other shops along world bazaar (Main Street)

26968259132_c2fd583499_z.jpg

In Japan keychains are a big thing, so it is only fitting that there is an array of different keychains to choose from.

26968258152_9eda9be7bb_z.jpg

27062574545_a3aec3d240_z.jpg

Another popular disney merch are underwear, one store had a whole wall dedicated to them. But in all seriousness who doesn’t want Disney underwear?

27062566785_4740ccb47f_z.jpg

Then I found the most kawaii rain boots and if they came in my size and not just children sizes I would have bought them.

27029595406_aee7534ae7_z.jpg

I could only go so long until I started picking up things that I wanted, first it was the rapunzel shirt, like Alicia’s Aladdin one. Marisa found a Toy Story one that she wanted but we only found it in kids sizes.

27049729416_568bf0c76f_z.jpg

Once purchasing my shirt I we headed to the penny arcade where I decided to through away some more yen for Grandma to read my fortune. I don’t remember what it said but I remember it wasn’t a good fortune, Grandma I would like my money back.

27029591866_b3848d0d44_z.jpg

After the penny arcade, was the magic shop. Then we found ourselves on the street of World Bazaar.

And the most popular store in all the land

In here we have a wall of plushes

26458823033_13dd36183b_z.jpg

shirts

26457267264_4f7eda6efe_z.jpg

lint rollers

tissue box covers

Love the shopping at TDL, especially all those "different" kinds of stuff you don't find in the US! Good thing I did most of my shopping in the morning, because in the afternoon, we could hardly walk in the stores! Super duper crowded! I bought all three colors of those bunny ears (white, pink, and blue) for my two nieces and my older DD, who couldn't travel with us. They are so cute! I loved all the stationery too! Now that I think about it, I REALLY wish I bought more stuff, not only at TDL, but in Japan overall! I regret holding back, thinking I might be spending too much. It will be years before we can go back again.

I wanted to say that I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't find more apparel at the TDL stores. I especially wanted to buy shirts that had the year 2016 on them, along with "Tokyo Disneyland" or "Tokyo Disney Sea". Were there any with the year 2016, and I missed them? It seems there is a much bigger selection of apparel at WDW or DL. Maybe the Japanese are not into clothing as much as Americans.

Now your day at Disneyland looks a lot like mine at Disney Sea!
Those cute gumboots were sold out on our wet day. I would have bought some myself if they had any left!!

I've always had difficulty finding good T-shirts at the parks in Tokyo, not something that's as big a fashion statement I guess

I agree 100% at the time I thought I purchased a good amount of stuff on this trip but once returning home I found myself wishing I purchased the stuff i made myself put down.
I feel the same way. I thought it would be like the US parks where there are so many different options in clothing. No there wasn't any with the year on them. The only ones that I saw that had the park names on them were jersey type shirts that I ended up buying for Disney Sea. All I wanted was a hoodie and there was only like one option that I feel like I could buy at home.

Now your day at Disneyland looks a lot like mine at Disney Sea!

People were buying those boots left and right. They were a popular purchase on a day like that.

I feel like they could do a lot of awesome ideas for shirts and that they would sell well.

de-lurking to say I'm loving your trip report. Looking forward to more!
Thank you!!!!

It's Laughter We're After

It’s laughter we’re after! It was time to see how cool this ride was and why is was so popular.

Right away you are entered in Monsters Incorporated

Once starting our flashlight tag I quickly learned why this attraction was so popular, the animatronics alone are great, then add an interactive game to the mix and it becomes even better.
As you ride around monstropolis you shine your flashlight on the monster inc logos to find “hidden” monsters.

Once departing the ride you’ll come to find out that they take your photo, how un-cute

then once again you enter a gift shop

However this gift shop had so much little details that I had to much fun taking photos of every little thing.

We headed to space mountain to grab a fastpass for later. Then we went back to castle area.

After venturing away from tomorrowland for a while we headed to fantasyland. It was very strange to me that Dumbo was right in front of the haunted mansion, and just for the fact that haunted mansion was just right there in fantasyland.

Pinocchios Daring Adventure was on our list of attractions to do but it had quite the wait.

This little chan made me so mad that I didn’t think to wear my onesie to the park because that would have been such a great idea on this chilly day.

Next up we headed to the one land I loved as a child but WDW took it away from us.

I forgot how cute Toontown is and how kawaii themed it is

First thing we did once arriving in toontown, browse the shops.

26576317784_a9c825c3aa_z.jpg

I found the cutest socks and was kind of upset that they only came in children sizes. Who wouldn’t want monorail socks?!

We didn’t spend much time in the shop because many of the shops carry the same merchandise and we had all of toon town to explore.
