Joining in! I followed your wedding TR, happy to hear your husband came back safe!

I feel your pain with the migraine, I get them constantly. It's the worst at a restaurant, sometimes food helps, so you try and eat and sometimes it makes it so much worse!

Great start to your reviews. Another fellow mayo hater here - in fact, we are a family of mayo haters ;)

Glad to see your DH returned safely from his deployment - you make a cute couple :)

:cool1: Yay for following it over!

It stunk, but hey it poured that night, and it was a crazy lightening storm, so it was the best night to be sick :upsidedow

We think that is major cause of it, the stress, not sleeping, eating right..... I am so glad he is home safe :lovestruc

Hey now, we had to get in the spirit of the trip! Besides, now if you fly through NY you know not to get the sweet tea :rotfl:

I am sorry you get them often! I would hate that. I just get them occasionally, and normally I can head them off.... not this time!

Glad you are back for more. I thought I had burnt some people out with all that lovey dovey wedding stuff LOL

:lmao: Welcome, and I am glad you understand!

Will do! Glad you have joined in!

Thank you! You understand the plight of the mayo hater. It isn't an easy life to live :guilty:

Day 1 (5/28) Animal Kingdom – Tusker House
Seating time – 9:20 (AM EMH)

After getting back to the hotel, and a solid night’s sleep, I was ready to eat my way through Animal Kingdom!!

We arrived a bit early and were seated early. When we went to check in at the first podium, they asked that only one person from each family stand in line. At first I didn’t know if I liked that. However not having to listen to children scream right next to me (they were instead a few feet away and in fact were screaming, loudly) was very nice. I had a nice chat with another DISer while we waited for our turn to check in. While I waited in line, Josh stood in the seating area to the left waiting for me. The check in process was fast, and easy… for us. The woman yelling because she didn’t have a reservation, and they were full wasn’t very happy. She couldn’t comprehend that the people standing in line waiting to check in had made reservations up to six months in advance.

Once I checked us in, I was handed a buzzer and told to have a seat and wait. Josh and I sat chatting about what we wanted to do the rest of the day, and very soon our buzzer went off. We were taken to the second podium, where they double checked our names.
We had our photo taken with Donald (Not included)

A note about the Donald meet and greet:
There were two families in front of us to have their photo taken. One was seated right next to us in the dining room, very sweet, first non-kid vacation… and the other had young children, and was freaking out because 1) Donald couldn’t sign their books, and 2) Donald wouldn’t be coming around to the tables inside. Mom was WAY more upset than the kids. I think the photo process here could be refined a bit, as at other character meals it seems to go a bit more smoothly.

We were seated by a very friendly 20ish girl who told us that we NEED to come back and try lunch sometime. She said the food is fantastic, and if we loved breakfast there, we would love lunch. It has been added to the do to list. She explained the buffet to us, and lead us to the dining room to the right, when you are walking in the door. We were seated in a back corner, which turned out to be great, as there was another childless couple at the 2 top next to us.

Our server, Megumi was attentive, and told us we had plenty of time to grab some breakfast before the characters made it over. Josh and I both got Jungle Juice (“always good, fruity and jungle like- according to Josh) and coffee. I got a big glass of water a little later.

My breakfast…..

Sorry no photo of DH’s plate, by the time I got back it was ½ demolished, and unless you are eating something that doesn’t fall apart at all, breakfast doesn’t look pretty ½ eatten. Mickey waffles were good, but I only ate the ears. Bacon was ok, not the best on property, but I love me some pig. I am a BIG fan of tatertos and was very excited that they are still on the breakfast buffet. I missed the ketchup though, and ended up having to steal some off of Josh’s plate. The eggs with cheese and ham were just way too rich for me. I ate 1 or 2 bites.
Character greeters included:

Mickey
[IMG]

Daisy
[IMG]

Goofy
[IMG]

All characters were very fun, interaction was limited, but come on, when a character can’t talk, you can’t expect much. They signed our book, gave us hugs, and moved on. We had eaten, and were walking out the door in under an hour.

Cost – $56.97
Credits used – 2
Worth the credits –
Josh – Yes, Daisy hit on me
Beth – Yes, very yummy and the characters are fun!

I couldn't help but notice how lovely the two of you looked in all the photos with the characters, except when Josh chose to pose alone with Daisy. I probably wouldn't read too much into it... but that Duck looks really happy.

We loved Tusker House last year and have it for an ADR this year as well. The food is awesome and the jungle juice should be given out in carafes!

Day 1 (5/28) Animal Kingdom – Yak and Yeti
Seating time – 1:30

We arrived early (about 1), and were told that it would be close to our reservation before we could be sat, but that we were welcome to come in. We headed in, as it was HOT and we relaxed for a few moments, made a mushed penny and were quickly called to our table! This guy was chilling in the waiting area.

We were lead up stairs by a very nice young man who told us that all the decorations were authentic. I don’t really know what that means (made in china?) but they sure were pretty! He lead us past this

And up the stairs to the second floor, which was way more quiet than the ground floor!
We were taken into a cute little sun porch area, and sat at two top against the wall, across from a family with a VERY messy baby! I will say this, there was constantly someone walking about sweeping up after baby! Within moments of the family leaving you would have never know that baby had noodles there!
We were handed menus, and left to decide what we wanted to try! I am a big fan of moving slowly through a meal, so we started with drinks, before we really decided what we wanted to do.
The waiter, Hicham asked if we were on a dining plan, and seemed oddly reluctant to explain it to us, even though this was the first real meal we were using it with. I wanted to make sure we fully understood, and didn’t stray too far….
I decided a big glass of water, and some diet Coke with lemon was in order. Josh went with a Glacier Water $3.95 (not on the dinging plan)

It was very sweet, but not too sweet. “You gotta like coconut” – Josh. It was very refreshing, and even thought I don’t really like coconut I thought it was tasty.

We relaxed, looking over the menu

The wall décor was very cute!

For an appetizer I went with the Wok-fried Green Beans, Josh ordered pot stickers….. but got egg rolls?

My green beans were delicious! They were cooked just right, hot and very crispy! I am not really a sauce girl, but I liked the chili sauce with them it wasn’t spicy really! Josh did not like the egg rolls, but hates to send food back (I have only seen him do it once, he was served a stone cold burger) so he nibbled on them, and finished up my beans. The waiter never noticed. He wasn’t a terrible waiter, just not super either.

For an entrée I went with the Shrimp Lo Mein

I had shrimp several times while we were on this trip. This dish was very yummy. The sauce was light, but very full of flavor, if that makes sense. There were lots of shrimp… but they were little shrimp. I like big shrimp. I think they taste different, and if you don’t, well too bad LOL. The noodles were really yummy as well.
Josh got the Duck

“not extrodinary” – Josh
He said it wasn’t the best duck he has had, and not a lot of “bang” for the buck. He wouldn’t get it again. He said he could have gotten it anywhere, and it was kind of dry.

Dessert was a hard pick, but we decided to each get what we were leaning more toward, and to share!
I went with the friend wantons, and Joshua went with the sorbet
[IMG]
Please don’t mind the husband who can’t wait to take a bit in the background……

I loved the fried wontons, but after a fairly heavy meal, they were almost too heavy. The cream cheese was super yummy, and the pineapple and ice cream super refreshing!
Josh’s sorbet was “lemon was good, but sour like a lemon” “mango was good, but I didn’t care for the raspberry”

Here is Josh trying the Lemon BWAHAHAHAHA :lmao:

I tried it, it really was sour, but very refreshing!

Cost – $82.38
Credits used – 2
Worth the credits –
Josh – *concentrating really hard…..* I had the duck, I am sure there was better stuff on the menu… and my dessert was good. soooo yes
Beth – Very much so! I plan to return on our next trip!

We ate at Yak and Yeti and sat at the table that was across from you!!! I'm entirely jealous that you ate the green beans. I had considered getting them, but figured I'd be too full and that's never a good thing. Keep the reviews coming!

I'm in. Can't wait to read more of your reviews. I have a special affinity for military wives and thier spouses being that I used to be one and still would be if it weren't for a training accident (DH is now a disabled US Marine Veteran). So glad your husband came home safe. I'll have to go back and check out you wedding TR. Yak and Yeti looks good. That's one we would really like to try.
