The Goodys go to Disney!! POFQ - May 2009 - 8 Days - Deluxe Dining & 630 Pics!!

We just got back from a Very Magical trip to Disney. Here is our story:​

Nickie - I am the mom. I am 34 years old. I work part time in Boston for an Investment Firm as an Admin Assistant and spend all my free time with my boys and planning vacations.

Wayne - (AKA on the DIS: My3rdDisneyboy) Wayne is my very handsome and loving husband. He is an amazing father to our boys and my very best friend!!!! Wayne works as a Market Research Analyst - He writes and researches juice!! (The kids love it because we get lot's of free samples)

Myles - Our 5 year old son. Myles is so adorable. He loves to sing the Jonas Brothers and make people laugh. He is graduating pre-school this June and going to Kindergarten in the Fall!! I can't believe how fast he is growing. He plays soccer and is starting football in the Fall. When he grows up he said he wants to be a Jonas Brother and a Builder. Myles LOVES Disney. This was his 3rd trip!!

Owen - Our 22 month old beautiful baby boy. He loves to laugh and sing. He is not afraid of anything and LOVES Disney!! This was Owen's 2nd trip to Disney!!

Where do I start??? We went to Disney May 5th - May 12th and had a GREAT time. It was HOT HOT HOT and then some more HOT!!!! The crowds were there but not horrible. Having an ADR for Breakfast most mornings before the parks opened was KEY!!!!! On those mornings, we got breakfast out of the way and were in the park and one of the first people to get on the big attraction at each park. We were able to get fastpasses to use later in the day, and ride the rides that didnt use fastpasses while the crowds were low in the morning, and then when others were waiting for 60 minutes to ride Peter Pan, we would walk right on!!! It was great

We went to Disney during "Year of a Million Dreams" and didn't experience any "Magic Moments", but on this trip even though that promotion is over, we were lucky to experience SO MANY "Magical Moments"!!!! You will have to read the rest of my Trip Report to hear all about them.

aww- thank you!! It was SO hot. Seriously I got a heat rash all over my body - it is still on me. The good thing is that even though we ate a 3 course meal (3 times a day) and lots of snacks and drinks... we sweated so much that I couldnt have gained that much weight.

Yes- another perk for sure!!! We were so lucky - people were actually standing in a line so that we could all get that pic with nobody in it!!

DAY 1: May 5th 2009 - Our Arrival and dinner @ Chef Mickey​

I'm up - it's 3AM and I am too excited to sleep. I take a shower, re-check our bags for the 15th time, and look at the clock for 3 hours. Finally it's 6AM and I can wake up the boys and say "we are going to DISNEY today!!!" Wayne goes to Dunkins to get us some coffee, and I get the boys dressed. At 6:30AM, the phone rings.... who could it be!? It was Mickey Mouse wishing us a great vacation!!!!! This was so thoughtful of Wayne to arrange for the boys- they were so excited and felt so special.

Finally our taxi van arrives and takes us to the airport. Security was a little painful because of the two car seats, double stroller, 3 bags, and two excited kids!! The plane ride was pretty uneventful. There was this woman sitting next to me that sanitzed her seat area the ENTIRE flight. And a lady sitting in back of us that was wearing a mask and coughing the entire flight. I think most of you know I am terrified of flying so these two people were not helping me at all! It's now 1:00PM, we arrive into SUNNY, BEAUTIFUL, HOT, Florida and get our mini van and drive to the hotel. We "try" to check in at 3:00PM. I am told "call this number at 4- because your room isn't ready". I was annoyed. I had traveled the entire day and had two tired, cranky kids that needed a little rest and a cool room before we had to leave for dinner. I said, "I thought check in was at 3:00" and the kind of rude CM said, "NO!" "Check in is ANY time AFTER 3:00... it could be 3 or 4 or even 5" So this kind of made a bad first impression of the POFQ for me. Around 4:30 we check into our room and find this cute little thing...

We change and get ready for our dinner at Chef Mickeys!! Wayne had on his birthday button and everyone said "Happy Birthday" to him. He LOVED the attention and wore his button all week! We valet parked the car and walked into the Contemporary. What a nice Hotel!!!! We were stopped at the front desk and was told that Wayne had a phone call. So she told us to have the kids sit up on the counter and Goofy was on the phone, wishing Daddy a Happy Birthday. The kids got stickers and were thrilled.

Dinner was GREAT!!!!! The food was good and the Characters were awesome!!! Dessert- So yummy!!

We hopped on the monorail to the Poly and went up the lounge and got a couple of Mai Tai's. We took them out the beach and watched the fireworks and the Water Parade. I had never seen this, it was awesome to watch it light up as the fireworks were ending.

Heading back to get the car at the Contemporary, Wayne asked if we could sit up front on the monorail, and they said come on up. It was SO COOl!!! The driver said "this is the best ride in Disney" and it was up there.... The kids LOVED it and they both got a license from the driver. It was a magical ending to our first day.

Such an amazing first night in Disney!! We just kept thinking how Magical our trip was and it was only day one... we were so excited for what the next 7 days would bring!

Just showed Ashton your boys with the characters and asked if he was going to give Donald a hi five and he said no he's to mean (I think that is what he said)...I hope he does not prove his dad right...LOL

Love how you started in sweatshirts and ended in short sleeves...I can't imagine...I live in the same climate as Florida...even when we get cold;its normally short sleeves...

Ok, that picture of Owen seeing Pluto is absolutely priceless!!! Those are the memories, and pictures that are the best! Like the pic I have of Aubrey seeing the castle for the first time. I had planned on Jason going ahead of us to take the pic so I could remember that moment forever. I have it framed on my bedside table

The pics from the beach are great. It just looks like the perfect ending to your first day.

Sorry you had an upleasant first experience with the check in CM. Same thing happened to us at BC. Oh well, I'm sure you forgot about it quickly! Can't wait to hear more!!!

Tears again!! I think I get teary because I know that feeling of being so happy, seeing everything through my children's eyes without a care in the world. Looks like a very magical first day.
