The (Foodie)Force is Strong with Us...a Feb/Mar 2016 trip! THE END - NEW 9/13 Disneyland TR link!

Following along! I love seeing & reading about food at WDW so I'm excited to see how your trip went. :goodvibes

I always liked Tren-D, too! Several years ago, I bought a super cute Alice in Wonderland denim wallet from there which I have not found anywhere since (last time I checked back there was a couple years ago, though..). I love Alice & it's hard to find Alice themed stuff like that. Anyway, I really like the shirts you ended up buying! :thumbsup2

So glad the trip report continues. I'm reading along on the Star Wars Cruise and loving it. Can't wait to hear all about the land portion.

Yay, following along and excited for the WDW portion of your trip! You did such an amazing job of living it up for your birthday...I am definitely planning to follow your lead next time I have a momentous birthday coming up! As a fellow northeastern-er, I agree that Disney when it's not super hot is awesome. I went in December a few years ago and was wearing sweatshirts and gloves. It was sort of bizarre but also such a relief to not be 95 and humid. :)

I'm heading to Orlando LATER TODAY ( :cloud9: ) for a day at Universal and then six days at WDW. Looking forward to catching up with your report when I'm back at home!

Thank you so much!! OMG have an amazing time!! I'm so jealous I wish I could be there right now!! Looking forward to hearing about YOUR trip!

Yay! So glad to hear about this part of the trip.

Yay great to see you here! Thank you!!

Yipee!!! Another part of your trip - been following your cruise :goodvibes
BTW fabulous Star Wars outfits on the cruise - you guys really embraced the day!!!
Your sister must have been so depressed leaving WDW :guilty:
We are doing one week in WDW after our Fantasy cruise also - the thoughts of getting off the ship and going home to NJ is unacceptable!
Love your reports - thanks so much for sharing! :smickey:

Hello there! Thank you so much!
Yeah she was pretty sad but I think she accomplished everything she wanted on the cruise (namely all the character pictures!)
I think the only way to cruise now is to tack on a trip to WDW after!

I'm here, Su-Lynn!

Wow - your Star Wars costumes were AWESOME! Nice work!

I'm so excited to hear all about the land portion of your land and sea celebration trip - especially the food! You know how I love food! :D Looking forward to your review of Morimoto Asia...

Hi Jenny! Great to see you here!!!
Thank you! We had a great time!!
Stay tuned for Morimoto!

Can't wait to read more. Going through Disney withdrawals right now.
Got home last night from Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend!

Thank you!
Wow did you run? I know someone who ran too! It looks like super fun and if I was ever a runner (which I am not) I'd definitely do the Disney races!

Joining in! I am also a huge fan of the Poly and a proud Disney foodie. I can't wait to hear more about your trip and am really looking forward to your Victoria & Alberts review!

Thank you! We had an amazing time and I can't wait to share it all!

I have lurked on your past TRs, but I'm joining in this time. Can't wait to read about the rest of the trip.

Thank you for reading!! We had such a blast on this trip!

Thank you!! I love to eat and so WDW is perfect for me!
Tren-D has a lot of cute stuff that you can't find elsewhere! I always hit them up when I'm in WDW!

Another great start to an exciting WDW TR. You are pretty darn good at writing up trip reports. I can't wait to read more.

Hi!! Haha Thank you! I apprecate it!!

So glad the trip report continues. I'm reading along on the Star Wars Cruise and loving it. Can't wait to hear all about the land portion.

Hi there! Thank you for following on this TR!! Can't wait to share all our experiences!

subbing! l love your TRs. :)

Thank you!!

Still catching up on your wonderful cruise report, but I'll be keeping up here too! We're at 28 days to go and I can't wait :)

Thank you!! Wow almost there! Can't wait to hear all about your trip too!

Day 1 Part 2: Morimoto Asia Birthday Lunch!

I was very exited about this lunch, not only was it Morimoto who is a former Iron Chef, but also because it was nice to sit to finally be able to have some sushi after a week without it, and I love sushi! HAHAHA.

Upon entering Morimoto, we were greeted and seated immediately in the middle of the dining room. The space is really nice - it combines old world Asian decor with industrial "chic" touches. The chandelier light fixtures took up the entire ceiling and I thought it was really cool.

This menu looked good! I was really missing ethnic spicy food - I eat a lot of it regularly, like Thai, Indian, Chinese, Malaysian, etc. So this was perfect!

Our server was super nice and brought us waters in these lovely glasses that looked handblown. We then ordered our drinks. DH and I got Thai iced coffees and CS got Thai iced tea because she hates coffee! They were delicious and perfect for the afternoon.

We all ordered appetizers. CS and I both got sushi rolls and DH got hamachi tartar tacos.

Here's DH's tacos. They were mini and just so adorable!

Everything was great, but the real winner were the hamachi tacos - mainly because they were so cute! I shared my roll with DH and so I took one of his tacos. Hehehe. This is the best way to eat IMO.

The taco had hamachi (yellowtail) tartar and a bunch of other stuff. It was really good! And also gone in about 2 bites.

For entrees, I guess we were all in the noodle soup mode, so DH and CS got ramens, and I got the Singapore Laksa noodles, which are noodles in a curry style broth.

DH's Pork Tonkotsu Ramen had a rich thick broth with lots of umami flavor. I don't think it's the best ramen I've had (If you're ever in NYC, try Ippudo or Totto) but it's very good and definitely something we craved after the week of cruise food.

Tonkotsu Ramen: rich pork broth, egg noodles, roasted pork, wood ear mushroom, pickled ginger

CS's Charsiu pork ramen had a clearer broth but was also really good and she really liked it. She requested it spicy so they had some chili oil drizzled in which added a nice kick.

Charsiu Ramen: soy flavored broth, egg noodles, roasted pork, scallion - chili oil optional

And finally, my Singaporean Laksa Noodles. Disclosure: I'm from Singapore originally and this wasn't authentic laksa but I've never actually found a place outside of SE Asia that makes anything even remotely close so I wasn't expecting it to be the same. It was just as I expected it to be, noodles in a curry broth that was both flavorful and rich. I did enjoy it a lot.

For dessert, we got something called the Mochi Mochi: annin tofu, coconut mango soup, fruit boba, frozen mango, lemon-yogurt powder. It sounded like the most interesting dessert. It was big enough to share so we only got one.

OMG I absolutely loved this dessert, there was so much texture and interesting flavors. In Asian cuisine we eat and drink a lot of soy in both savory and sweet formats and this was a sweet format so don't be alarmed that the dish had tofu in it. It's a very soft sweet tofu, like a soy milk pudding. There were bursting balls, fruit, mango "soup" - it was all so yummy! Oh and the Happy Birthday was a nice touch hehe.

Sometimes I forget it's my birthday because I had been celebrating all week. :lmao:

It was an awesome lunch at Morimoto, the service was excellent, the food and the ambiance were great! I'd definitely return! Oh and the nice part was that if you use your Disney Visa you get 10% off the final bill! This was a promotion they were running while we happened to be there, not sure if this is ongoing!

Coming up...walking around Disney Springs, our room at the Poly, birthday dinner at my favorite...'Ohana, and hitting MK for wishes all on my birthday!

party:

Another hanger on:) I was interested to see what you thought of Morimoto. I thought it was good too. I was so angry, because we forgot to bring the camera. Your photos are great though. It was such a beautiful restaurant. We will have to try the hamachi tacos next time.

Coming over from your cruise TR

Looks like a great start to the WDW portion of your trip - and what a great birthday so far!

That dessert looks so interesting!

It was good! What did you guys order? I definitely wanted to try other items but since we had Ohana that night we refrained.

Following along. I just read your entire cruise report! Love your outfit choices!

Thank you so much and welcome!

Joining in from your cruise TR! Looks like a very yummy meal at Morimoto!

Thank you for reading!! It was quite yummy! We were all very happy!

So pretty!!

It was stunning!

God, how I miss sushi...

I know, it's amazing how much I missed it after not eating it for a week.

...AND noodles!! GUH! This looks SO GOOD!!

It was really yummy!

Thank you!!

We had a great day! I definitely couldn't think of a better way to ring in a new decade!

It was an extremely interesting dessert and one that wasn't too heavy either. It was great!

I'm here!

Yay for the Poly - it's our favorite! (Though we still need to see the remodel in person). Very cool that you had a CM from Hawaii to check you in - that's some fantastic Disney theming there. :rotfl:

Love the Minnie tank with the bow - super cute!

Great to hear about Morimoto - I didn't know much about it.

Can't wait to hear more! :goodvibes

I will be doing a review of it in my TR, but I know we had a couple of rolls. I had the black cod. DH had a steak. We didn't have dessert. But we had the largest bottle of sake I have ever seen, or at least we tried to:)

That entrance is simply stunning!! Oh my gosh.

Oh sushi..........one thing that DCL has NOT perfected :P

That looks so delicious. What's in a Thai iced coffee? Whatever it is I need to get me some of that lol!!

While that dessert doesn't sound like something I'd personally enjoy, it is very visually appealing, so pretty!

Thanks! It's a keeper!

Me neither until I ate there!

Yum, the black cod sounds great. I think I had it in the NY Morimoto but I'm sure the Orlando one is somewhat different and probably a bit cheaper too :)

That entrance is simply stunning!! Oh my gosh.

it was quite amazing, the decor!

Oh sushi..........one thing that DCL has NOT perfected :P

I know, right? It would be an even more amazing cruise if they just could have some good sushi!

That looks so delicious. What's in a Thai iced coffee? Whatever it is I need to get me some of that lol!!

It's so good! It's a rich espresso roast coffee with condensed milk so it's sweet and creamy. It's also called Vietnamese coffee at some places. You should definitely try it if you see it!

While that dessert doesn't sound like something I'd personally enjoy, it is very visually appealing, so pretty!

It's a bit of an acquired taste but it was so much fun to eat!

OK, I made it over here :) Looking forward to seeing how the rest of the trip went!

Hi!! Thanks for comin' over!

Joining in!

Thank you!!!
