Just curious, anyone familiar with The China Study? My doctor has recommended that I give it a try. Looks interesting. Basically it seems that I would be Vegan if I do give it a try. Love to hear if anyone has any experience with it.

The book recommends a whole food plant based diet.
I made the change 3.5 years ago.
I lost weight and kept it off, my MS is in remission, no flare ups since I changed what I eat,
    Feel great!
I would also recommend Dr McDougall.com. He offers a lot of free recipes and a 10 day menu to get you going
Forks over knives video is awesome

Thanks so much! I am waiting on the DVD. Started changing my diet yesterday. I can't wait to check out the website you mentioned. My doctor seems to think this might help with my arthritis. Such great news that your health has improved so much!

Forgot to ask. Have you found it a challenge to eat at WDW?

Forks over Knives is a great documentary with a base of the China Study featuring the researchers.

I have been a vegetarian since 2011 after watching the documentary, haven't made the complete switch to vegan though I eat vegan when I can. WDW for vegans can be hard, however eating vegetarian is fairly simple and they offer vegetarian options nearly everywhere if you decide to go that route before completely switching to vegan. Some places should be able to offer you a vegan alternative, you'd have to ask. Personally I feel much better than I did before, and I do feel even better when I eat vegan. I love it. Good luck!

You guys are great! I'm just getting started. Going the Vegan route. Just put Engine 2 on hold at the library. Another great source for recipes that I have found is the book Prevent & Reverse Heart Disease by Caldwell Esselstyn Jr. Great suggestions for quick & easy meals to have on hand. So far, everything that I have made has been yummy. Guess I'll have to make a note on my Disney ADRs that 1 guest eats Vegan. I ate Gluten Free up until I started this, and Disney was amazing last year for our trip. I do think that Food & Wine will be a lot different for me this year..;) That's ok though. I just want to feel better.

Eating plant based at WDW is easiest at the sit down restaurants.
    Quick service is tougher.
While I am on vacation I follow this way of eating as best as I can. I know I might eat something not quite right but I do not worry about it so much.

However I am so glad when I am back home cooking my own healthy food!

Strawberry's mom & dad that is a great way to look at this! Thank you! I had amazing experiences with TS last year. The chef always came to our table and helped discuss my options. I figure I'll just get familiar with the quick service menus before our trip so I have an idea of what my options are.

    Hello,

I made the switch from pescetarian about 3 or 4 weeks ago. Within 3 days, my joints felt much better. I can now get up from sitting for a long time without easing into my walk with what I call the Grandma Yetta shuffle (from The Nanny). I finished reading The China Study last week...very enlightening.

I don't think you'll have a problem at most TS restaurants as far as getting vegan food is concerned. But, it may not always be the target whole-foods, no added fats type vegan.

Here are some non-Disney resouces you may find helpful:

    HappyHerbivore.com (website, blog and books)
Forks over Knives (DVD, recipe book & recipes on website)
    Plant Powered Kitchen website
    Fatfreevegan.com
    vegweb.com

I hope this helps. Also, I'm so glad you have a doctor that is knowledgeable enough to recommend this kind of change, instead of loading up the meds.

    Enjoy.

    Kelly
