"I can't think of a snazzy title for this PTR" PTR - 7/19 Update

Free Dining! It can happen to you! I'm online trying to activate a cell phone for my mother's gift, watching my son try to eat a peanut butter jelly sandwich, and prevent the dog from eat the boy's sandwich when I decide, hey, let's check availability again! I noticed some CBR rooms opening up with FD, and more values, so I thought I had a shot. Last night there were only CL rooms available at WL though. So I log in to Modify Reservation, and sure enough, there was my Woods View room with the FD option! I'm freaking out!

So I click "yes please confirm and give me FD", and at that point the boy falls out off his chair, knocking his cheerios and sandwich on the floor, the dog is eating it, he's crying, and I'm panicking because Disney is giving me an error message. Nooooo! So I grab the boy, pick up the cheerios, put him on my lap and hit "confirm" again. Then the clouds parted, the birds started singing, he stopped crying, and I got confirmation!!!

So now I have a park hopper that I don't think we'll need, but we have it, so I might have to re-think our plans. However, I have great ADRs, so I don't think I can change things too much. Eeek!

So yay! Now to run out to Target while my hubby gives blood. Time to start stockpiling the Disney box o'goodies!

Good job multi-tasking! Yay for FD! I'm so happy that you got the room you wished for and the dining deal! Have fun planning! :D
party:party:party:

Bravo to your hubby for giving blood! As a recipient of many kind donations of blood over this lifetime please tell him how much that donation means. I had surgery all through child and teen hood. Hemorrhaged giving birth to my daughter and had to have three pints then. Grateful does not even express what a gift he's giving!

So after lots of contemplation, nail biting, and dis-searching, I decided to make some changes to our park schedule. I know. No one here has EVER changed their plans at least once. Bear with me.

So here's the new plan, based off of the crowd calendars (for the most part), the fact that we now have Park Hoppers, and the trip to an amusement park we took on Sunday.

Arrival, Thursday 10/29:
*Epcot*
Breakfast - on the road from relative's house
Lunch - San Angel Restaurante
Dinner - Food & Wine fest!

Friday 10/30:
*Hollywood Studios* (May hop to MK)
Breakfast - Starring Rolls
Lunch - Sci Fi
Dinner - Whispering Canyon Cafe

Saturday 10/31:
*Magic Kingdom*
No meal plans, all QS or snacks
MNSSHP!!!!

Sunday 11/1:
*Epcot*
Breakfast - Trails' End
Lunch - Food & Wine fest
Dinner - Coral Reef (thinking of ordering a cake for our anniversary and surprising hubby here!)

Monday 11/2:
*Animal Kingdom*
Breakfast - Tusker House
Lunch - QS or snacks
Dinner - 'Ohana

Tuesday 11/3:
*Magic Kingdom*
Breakfast - Pre-Opening Crystal Palace!

I think this allows for us to be a little more relaxed, and hopefully see lower crowds. The little guy definitely needed a break somewhere quiet around his regular nap time when we went to the local amusement park. But he LOVED the rides! Here's a sneak peek! Fitting that he rode the knock-off flying elephants first, right?
:dumbo:

What a cutie he is :goodvibes, and your revised day by day plans look terrific:banana:! Park hoppers allow for so much more flexibility I'm a fan of them. :thumbsup2

Eeeek! I'm here! (From the Facebook group.)

So glad he enjoyed the local amusement park! ::yes::

We are forced with the hoppers, too, but we're going to make use of them. We've never used them before. We're firm believers in sticking to one park ... but now, we can get up and say "Where do you want to go?" and then do it. I dunno how well this will work, but at least there's a few days we can hop. Plus, I'm not stressing over the nighttime entertainment anymore. If we miss it on the night planned, we'll just hop another night. :thumbsup2

Yes, Horde and Alliance, though account is not active currently- will be soon though! *smiles*

What server(s) are you on? I'm on Scryers, Argent Dawn, and Bladefist. Mostly Alliance, but I have some Horde characters scattered here and there. ::yes::

Well, not much to report. Rental car is booked. Flight home is booked. Got a cute tote bag at Target to add to our box o'Disney.

Tonight I'm at home, drinking a Schofferhofer (Yum! I couldn't wait for Epcot; found them at Whole Foods!) watching Escape from Tomorrow. It's supposed to be a low-budget "horror" movie that had a lot of filming done at WDW and DL undercover. Disney was NOT happy when they heard about it. It had to be edited in South Korea. I love horror movies and I heard it's pretty lousy, but as of now it has a LOT of footage of rides, which is pretty cool.

Update to last time. That movie was awful. And I love awful horror movies. This was just a weird movie that made no sense.

So I have a "big" dilemma. I want to get a surprise cake for our anniversary, but since our anniversary is on Halloween and we'll be at MNSSHP, when should I get the cake?

10/30 at Whispering Canyon for dinner
or
11/1 at Coral Reef for dinner

Hmmm.

And here are the pictures from our 2nd trip to the amusement park. This kid LOVES rides! He seemed to be so excited that he was crying though. I've never seen that reaction before.

053015a.jpg 053015.jpg

He really was having fun on the roller coaster, I swear!

I'm getting more and more nervous about the construction that has started at WL. People are reporting back about jackhammering during the day. This will NOT be good if it is still going on, since the little man will probably need a nap. The scaffolding will be up all year, but I don't think that's a big deal. So what does a nerd like me do? Start crunching numbers! If I have to switch, but wait for the room only discount, I can get a Cars Suite at AOA plus the dining plan (paid) cheaper than our current stay at WL. Only by $200 or so, depending on if the room discount is 15% or 20%.

However, the convenience of WL is hard to beat, with a little guy. BUT, if there is annoying construction, what good is it to be a few minutes away?

And, I'm thinking more and more that a suite would be better, so he could sleep alone. He is not that great about sleeping in the same room with us when we've gone away.

Sigh. What to do??? Thoughts?

What an absolute cutie he is! :D I understand lol I cry whenever emotions are high too.

If the construction is going to negatively affect your trip I say go with your gut feeling. This vacation has to be enjoyable for all of you and it sounds like you already had some trepidation about sharing a room. Will you enjoy the Cars Suite as much as you would the WL room? If so then sounds like you already know what is best for your family!

Well, not much new going on. I think we're going to stick with WL, despite the impending doom that is construction. If it's that horrible, I'm sure they will be able to help us out.

So, that being said, I've moved on to obsessing over other things, like ADRs. I made a new one for breakfast at Kona. Not sure if I'll keep it though. We're eating at 'Ohana for dinner one night, so I don't know that I need to trek to the Poly twice, especially at breakfast. Then I changed around our Tusker House to make it an early lunch, just because the food looks better at lunch than breakfast. :)

Now to wait until August for FP planning!

The Food & Wine menus are out! This is a welcome distraction that is the construction at WL. I'm still not sure what to do. I said I was sticking with it, but now I'm kind of over it. Waiting to see what the Fall RO discounts look like. So anyway, back to food. I just saw this post and think I will pick out what I think we'll be trying. Mr.Skellington and I are not big beer/wine drinkers, and I'm not terribly adventurous with food, while he will try anything once. Little man will probably need to sample everything too, so this could be interesting (and expensive)!

Well, there have been some BIG changes. First was the PTR title. This one was boring. :) Next, after all the construction talk, and people getting discounts and switching resorts, I gave in and called Disney. When I mentioned switching resorts due to construction, they immediately transferred me to Guest Relations and had some options for me. I took them up on one of them and switched to THE CONTEMPORARY! We'll be staying in the Garden Wing, Garden View, which is fine, since it's supposed to be quiet there, but still in a great location. There was no upcharge AND I kept my free dining. Yeah!

Soooo, this meant I had to switch around some dining reservations. And while I was at it and reviewing crowd calendars, I switched around two of our days, EPCOT and Animal Kingdom.

Here's our new plan!

Thursday, 10/29, Arrival Day:EPCOT!
Arriving late morning, probably. Going to hit up F&W right away for some goodies and then have our "traditional" ADR at San Angel Inn for dinner (5:45)

Friday, 10/30: Hollywood Studios
Hoping for an early start to hit some rides, then an early lunch at Sci-Fi. Not much else there to interest us, so we might head to DTD and have dinner at Wolfgang Puck Express.

Saturday, 10/31: Magic Kingdom and MNSSHP!
I have a breakfast reservation at Kona, not sure if I'll keep it or not though. I'd like to just hit MK early and enjoy it. I scored a lunch reservation at BOG, so we'll have a nice mid-day break. I'm thinking we'll need to take a nice resort break before MNSSHP, so nap and pool time at the CONTEMPORARY!

Sunday, 11/1: Animal Kingdom
Again, hoping to get up early, but booked a breakfast at The Wave, since it was nearby. Not sure if we'll keep it or not. Lunch at Tusker House, and as an homage to our previously booked resort area, a dinner at Trail's End. Thought it might be fun to see what we're missing out on.

Monday, 11/2: EPCOT
Back to EPCOT for more F&W! No ADRs until dinner at 'Ohana, which I'm really excited about.

Tuesday, 11/3: Departure day, Magic Kingdom
Pre-Park Opening breakfast at Crystal Palace! We don't have to get leave for DME until 3pm or so, which gives us more time at MK!

Not sure if anyone is reading, but thanks for following along on my pre-planning adventure!

Just to see if anyone is even reading this, here's a quick picture needing a caption:

Oooh the Contemporary! I love the monorail resorts. I've only stayed at the Poly but would like to try the Contemporary one day! Nice ADR choices!

I survived my 1st time making FP+! I kept myself up until midnight on Saturday night, only to be completely overwhelmed and underwhelmed at the same time. I was expecting to see no availability for the rides I wanted, but got all of them. I didn't expect to feel so stressed afterward. :( I just feel like now I have this "schedule" that we HAVE to stick to, and I don't think it's possible. Sigh. But this is the new Disney, I guess.

Can someone take a look at my plans and tell me if they are reasonable? This is for me, the hubby, and the 2 year old, trying to use Rider Swap a lot, hence the large number of FPs. I'd book one for me, expecting hubby to use the RS later, and vice versa. We're staying at the Contemporary, no car.

Thursday - Check in day. Driving in from about an hour and a half away, hopefully arriving at 11am or earlier. EPCOT day.
  • 12:25-1:25 FP for Spaceship Earth
  • 2:00-3:00 FP for The Seas
  • 3:10-4:10 FP for Living with the Land
  • 5:45 ADR for San Angel Inn

Friday: Hollywood Studios day.
  • 9:20-10:20 FP for Tower of Terror
  • 10:30-11:30 FP for TSMM
  • 11:30 ADR for SciFi lunch
  • 1:20-2:20 FP for Star Tours
  • 2:40-2:55 FP for VOTLM (don't really even want to do this, but just picked anything)
  • Dinner at Downtown Disney?

Saturday: MNSSHP/MK day. Problems here are figuring out when to go back for a rest before the party. Will we be able to ride Splash or BTMRR later on, or should we push to keep these FPs?
  • 8:05 ADR at Kona (can drop this, no big deal)
  • 9:20-10:20 FP for Peter Pan
  • 10:35-11:35 FP for SDMT
  • 12:00 ADR for BOG lunch
  • 12:10-1:10 FP for Space Mountain (is this even possible?)
  • 4:30-5:30 FP for Splash
  • 5:30-6:30 FP for BTMRR

Sunday: Animal Kingdom day.
  • 9:20-10:20 FP for Safari
  • 12:35 ADR for Tusker House lunch
  • 1:30-2:30 FP for Dinosaur
  • 2:30-2:50 FP for FOTLK
  • 3:35-4:35 FP for EE
  • 7:05 ADR for Trails' End

Monday: EPCOT day.
  • 7:50 ADR for The Wave
  • 9:30-10:30 FP for Soarin'
  • 10:55-11:55 FP for Figment
  • 12:45-1:45 FP for Test Track
  • 1:25-2:25 FP for Captain EO (Don't laugh! I couldn't think of another FP I wanted and it's more of a reminder that I want to see it. I've never seen it.)
  • 1:50-2:50 FP for Mission:Space
  • 5:15 ADR for 'Ohana (trying to get one around 6-6:30 but no luck yet)

Tuesday: last day, MK day. Have to be back to get on ME by 3:30, I believe.
  • 8:10am ADR for CP (pre-park opening!)
  • 9:10-10:10 FP for SDMT
  • 10:40-10:55 FP for Buzz (overlapped two separate FPs for hubby and I so we need to be here in this short window)
  • 12:25-12:40 FP for Haunted Mansion (same as above)
  • 1:20-2:20 FP for BTMR

Help please! I feel like I'm going to have to be so militaristic about our day. I don't like this feeling. :(
