I've noticed that food reviews for DCL are all over the map. Even a guidebook raves about the food on one page, while later comparing other meals to Applebee's, not in a flattering way. I've seen some pretty awful looking pictures (after multiple scary shots I won't be ordering the prime rib--and I love prime rib) and some pictures that made me drool. What I'm trying to figure out if there's any rhyme or reason to it, things I should look for or things I should avoid.

Anything goes--buffet, snacks, room service, bar finger food.

Thanks for playing!

(Just want to mention that I will be pursuing a Palo brunch reservation the way other people pursue Anna and Elsa.)

I was a fan of everything I ate with the exception of the Mac and cheese with lobster.

BLT from room service (must be eaten after 11:00 pm to be properly appreciated)
Grand Marnier soufflé
Chocolate Soufflé. (Palo)
Lobster and marscapone ravioli (Palo)
White Bean Soup (Palo)

my rule is that anything with mango is delicious, especially that mango thing they have at breakfast (I have gotten it at table service breakfast, on the Wonder they had it at Goofy's Galley and on the Fantasy they had it in Cabanas).

So many things that I love

Tuscan white bean soup- Palo dinner
pasta purseittes- AP
Grand Marnier Souffle- RP
potato leek soup with caviar- Til We Meet Again Menu on 5 night (they have a similar version in Cabanas on the buffet)
Chicken Parm- Palo brunch
Crunchy walnut cake- AP
Belle's French Onion soup-RP
Gyros from the pool deck- Magic
Muesli- Cabanas
Pork Wellington- Magic AP
warm fingerling potato and watercress salad- Cabanas
Paradise- my favorite drink of the day
Chocolate souffle- Palo dinner
asparagus crab soup- EG
chicken tenders- pool deck
I'm sure there is more but I can't think of anything else right now.

Not so fond of:
shrimp cheesecake- not sure if they still have it
most of the desserts
meatloaf- lunch menu RP

There are definitely some good ones on there that I forgot. Looking forward to trying the Gyros next month when we sail 7 days to the western caribbean on the Magic.

seafood linguini pasta - last night of cruise
baked Alaska
cream of mushroom soup
apple crumble
banana bread
rib eye steaks
porterhouse steaks
Lomein noodles with chicken/veggies

beef kabobs at sit down lunch with roasted veggies and some kind of rice (or couscous) can't remember the name - this was amazing -best dish whole cruise

I have to say, we normally skip pirate night and go to Palo, but this time we were traveling with our 2 grandkids. They love pirate night a lot so we grinned and bared it and went to the MDR. I have to say it was just bad. There was not one appealing thing on the menu and what I ordered was just well yuck.
he crab cake appetizer was so fishy, I was done after one bite. I ordered the short ribs and got the steak thing by mistake (I didn't say anything to the server because I felt he was so busy and it wasn't that big a deal) but the meat was like a prime rib and so fatty around the edges just ew. I can't remember the dessert I had, I think they have added a couple new things since the last time we had the menu last year with the grand kids.

I really wish Disney would change up this menu.

The did serve at the pizza place some very delicious cinnamon pretzels stuffed with cream cheese. We saw them on Nassau and Key West day.
Try these if you get the chance, YUMMY!!!

We only did the three night cruise this past trip and did not have that much time, but I would say most of the food was good.
Loved the soft-serve ice cream station. For some reason the Disney soft-serve tastes better than on land!
The pizza at Lugi's was pretty good too!
As far as the dinner's in the MD the only thing I remember not liking was the Ginger Teriyaki dusted Angus Beef Tenderloin on Wasabi mashed potatoes with bok choy and a tamarind-barbecue reduction.
The surprise thing we enjoyed was the Sacher Chocolate Torte - with apricot sauce. Our server brought this out to us as a you got to try it in addition to the desserts we ordered. They were like chocolate truffles with and apricot "gel". Neither were great on their own, but when you ate them together they were awesome.:lovestruc

Hoping to get some more food and maybe a night at Palo on the next cruise.

Loved nearly everything on the Palo brunch offerings, but there was a chilled strawberry soup that was fantastic, as was the chicken parm. Lobster in MDR on NYE cruise was really terrific (and our servers kept bringing us more!).

Love, love, love the Chocolate Mousse. Also a fan of the French Onion Soup

Asked DH for his likes/dislikes all he could come up with was he doesn't like the lobster. It's not Maine lobster and it's not steamed. It's rock lobster and baked. He thought it was dry and grainy. To be fair, he has tried it on 3 different ships, 3 different itineraries (Magic - Panama Canal, Wonder - Hawaii, Fantasy - Caribbean) and it was the same on all of them.

I did like the pretzels but not the one with the cream cheese in the middle. Now if it was just cinnamon on it I would have liked it better.

Love all the soups but the crawfish/lobster one. Lobster bisque was ok though.

Kids love the bread basket and dips because they don't get that at home.
