Anyone having trouble purchasing these? We purchased a few without trouble and the last several times we've tried to purchase them - the card is blocked. We have our Target card tied to our checking account and there is more than enough funds for the transaction. When we call the number provided they tell us they don't give us a real answer except to try again.

Your card is used as a debit card with your bank. You may have a daily spending limit on debit transactions that is lower than the number of cards you want to buy.

You can apply for a Target credit card and not have that problem if you are interested. Otherwise, buy them several days in smaller batches to get the number you need.

When I have tried to buy over $500 at a time, it has been rejected. I seem to have a $500 limit, although Target couldn't tell me if it was the target debit or my bank.

I just chose not to worry about it and bought them $500 at a time.

Yes, my DH just did that last week. Got the 10% employee discount and the additional 5% for using the Target debit card tied to our bank account. :thumbsup2

I just heard about using the Target card yesterday and using it on Disney gift cards. I'm buying a $250 gc each month between now and June for our trip. I wish I worked at Target -- save another 10% on them. Cool! :cool1:

Does anyone know if you can get these Disney gift cards replaced if they are lost or stolen? I would be purchasing them to pay for meals (we are staying off site) so I would be carrying them down with me and not putting them on a room reservation.

I asked DH about this and of course, like a typical man, he couldn't have a simple answer. So, he wrote it down for me. He's been with Target for 21 years. LOL!!

Basically the debit card is treated as a check. You start out at a level 0. This means that you can write 1-3 checks/debit transactions per 30 day rolling period. The max amount is $100 per transaction and the monthly max is $250.

He wrote down all 4 levels. LOL!!

    1- 3-7 checks/debit transactions $200 max transaction, $500 rolling 30 day max.

    2- 7-10 checks/debits transactions, $350 max, $850 rolling max total

    3-10-12 checks/debit transactions, $500 max, $1000 rolling max total

    4- 12+ checks.debit transactions, $1000 max, $3000 rolling max total

To go up a level you must meet # of checks/debit transactions withing a rolling 30 day period. If one returned NSF fee in that 30 day rolling period, you go back one level.

I hope that makes sense...... LOL!!

That would actually be a call that Disney would have to make. Once you purchase them Target has nothing to do with it.

I do know that on the card it says to treat it as cash. So, I'm assuming that the answer to the question is probably no.....

If you save the receipts for purchase and photocopy all the card numbers on the back they may be able to replace lost cards, IF the balance hasnt already been spent.

Thank you for this information. I need $7000 in gift cards for our trip in September, so it looks like I need to go get a Target debit card today and start making purchases.

Could you ask your husband if employee's can use the Pharmacy Rewards one day 5% shopping pass in addition to their employee discount and a debit/Target card 5% discount (so 5% + 10% + 5% = 20%)?

Yes. You can use the employee discount and the other two. I know this because I've done it. However, the way it works is like this.

Say you are purchasing $500 in gift cards. They would take the 10% Employee Discount off first. Then they would take the 5% off for the debit card and then the 5% off for the pharmacy rewards. It would be something like this.

    $500x10%=450.00
    $450x5%=427.50
    427.50x5%=406.12

It looks funny, but that's the way that Target does the discounts on everything. You would save almost $100 on $500 worth of gift cards.

    Hope this helps.....

The benefit would be that you can get discounts on it, such as the ones listed in previous posts (ie: employee discount)
