What bad table manner drives you crazy?

Mine is smacking. I can't stand it!!

I also hate chewing with your mouth open.

Oh, and putting your napkin on the table during a meal.

Elbows on the table - I catch myself doing it constantly :confused3

Buttering an entire piece of bread/roll and eating it, rather than breaking off small pieces and buttering each individually. It absolutely infantilizes the person.

I can't believe nobody has said this: talking on your cell phone or texting. I mean, really? You can't hang up the phone for the 30 min it's gonna take you to eat your meal?

two handed eating makes me nuts. For example....using a fork to shovel food into your face with one hand, while biting on a roll in your other hand.

I hate it when certain members of my family sit down and start eating before everyone else is seated (particularly the cook!). I think it's beyond rude, and I've said so - but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Chewing and talking with your mouth full. Also, not holding your knife and fork properly.

Also talking about gross things or anything inappropriate at the table, especially infront of new guests.

This happened to me this past week when my 11 year old discovered a new and NEVER appropriate word and was telling us about it at the table with my DDs new boyfriend. I was so embarrassed! My son thought it was funny! :sad2:

I am disgusted my any kind of eating noise. Smacking food, slurping a drink and sometimes even hearing someone crunch really loud on something starts grating on my nerves. I can't be in the same room with someone eating cereal. It just makes me sick for some reason. And if I were to actually see someone tip their cereal bowl up to drink the Milk after eating the cereal I might pass out and vomit at the same time.

I don't care if someone puts their elbows on the table or puts their napkin on the table.

I also think it is very rude to stare at someone when they are eating. I go out to eat with my family and sometimes I will catch my kids just staring at me or each other...I hate that. Look at your food, look at other ppl in the restaurant or house, look any place but at me and my mouth while I am chewing.

And I don't like it if someone makes comments or makes fun of how someone else eats. That is usually my kids who do that. I get very p'd off if they do that.
