Surprised the kids, wife, and my readers w/ a 2 week trip to AoA!(*NEW* 11-7)

Just caught up on your TR, awesome! :cool1: Cant wait to read more about your trip!
:welcome: thanks for reading along with us. will try and get another update in today but we will see.

That does look like a lot of fun. Someday...

Wait, what?:confused3

Probably because he remembered that it was Journey Into Imagination. :rotfl2:

:thumbsup2 Those are classic. They never get old.

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:
how can you not like figment? he is awesome.:thumbsup2 i will get one of the kids to love that purple dragon.:)

Any Beverly?:confused3

sadly no, just straight coke products.

Not quite as vegan, either. :rolleyes1:rotfl:

You're from Austria? Have another shrimp on the barbie!
nope no vegan about that, good old fashion meat.

Probably because you said it was like It's a Small World. :rolleyes1

Good call! Can't give in to fear all the time.

i actually dont mind small world, i can handle it a few times.
:duck:

I've had that berry weiss before. You wouldn't even know it's a beer. Pretty good, though.

It's this kind of selfless research effort that your TR readers really appreciate.:thumbsup2

first time i had berry weiss, i thought it was just a juice, was suprised at it being a beer as well...the wife loves it, and taste good on a really hot day, but then again what beer doesnt. :rolleyes1

and it is because of my readers i take on that challenge of drinking down the beer in that time period.
:thumbsup2

Thank you so much for the pics of menu boards and the food! I do love some good food porn!

Not to mention it gives me lovely ideas for what to make for dinner this week!

:thumbsup2

thanks, glad you are enjoying them, im pretty sure i have a picture of every menu board, even if we didnt eat anything there, i still took one and will post it for you guys.
:)

Chapter 52. A Drink? sure, why not.

After we found Noelle and candi finishing Noelles lunch we headed back out to see what we could get into.

Since we started to the left that morning and already hit up the couple of food booths that way, it was time to go to the right so candi could get her long awaited first sample.

She opted for Hawaii.
DSC05385_zpsfe00064b.jpg

She was really wanting the pulled pork slider.

She gave me a little bite and it was really good.

DSC05386_zps53f6ed81.jpg

The booths all had a themeing to go with the country they were in, Hawaii was no different.

When she was ordering she asked if she should get a drink, i said sure why not, she said but we just finished a drink, i said no worries, that was leaving world show case you are not going back into world showcase its good.

DSC05387_zps709593bd.jpg

so a 7 tiki mai tai was in order.

And since it is rude to make someone drink alone, i opted for a big wave golden ale.
DSC05388_zpsa99d33f7.jpg

Red dots to protect the innocent.

noelle really liked the pulled pork sandwich.

890e1040-d14f-43cb-bf03-bffb01b53b6c_zpsa96a22fd.jpg

we really enjoyed this sandwich as well, i had just one bite though as candi really enjoyed it and i had already had 2 dishes on the other side of the world showcase.

next up was the desserts booth.
DSC05392_zps073a74e8.jpg

the booth itself was really neat with the paintings on it.
DSC05391_zpsb6e82c33.jpg

nothing was purchased here, as we did not find anything to spend our credits on that we really wanted.

Greece was up next.
and i thought hard about getting the chicken souvlaki but didnt see many reviews on it before we left, and decided to pass at the moment.
DSC05393_zpsa934896e.jpg

Next around the bend which was pretty much across the path from the greece booth was Canada

and here so much about there food on the people who eat at lecellier we had to try some to see what all the fuss was about ehhh.

DSC05394_zps9242cafc.jpg

here is there booth.
DSC05395_zps82f135a4.jpg

first up was the filet with the mushrooms, we both tried it without the mushrooms for the first bite, liked it then tried the mushrooms...now i am not a huge mushroom fan but these were pretty good, we ate about half of them with the rest of the steak.
DSC05396_zpsdca173ff.jpg

now would i HAVE to eat at the restaurant to have this steak...no, it was good but i have had ones just as good other places.

now onto the next amazing dish that you hear so much about when people visit.

the cheese soup
DSC05397_zps1cdb040a.jpg

i thought it was really good, noelle liked it as well.

DSC05398_zps283edc0a.jpg

candi also really enjoyed it, parker didnt care to try it.

was it the best i have had, it was up there, but best ever, would now go to the moosejaws beer cheese soup i had on the trip last month up to the dells, that was a world class beer cheese soup.

but i could make a trip to canada to get this soup. i just wish they had a walk up cheese soup line so i didnt have to go wait 180 days out to get a reservation to get a bowl of it.

one dish that i really wish i would have tried in canada after seeing others pictures of it, was the chicken chipotle sausage with polenta, but i guess there is always next time.

next up was Ireland laddies,

DSC05399_zps3577d268.jpg

but just finishing a few samples at Canada we opted to pass on this one.
DSC05400_zps5a0cf04f.jpg

we ventured into the shops at the UK to see what was going on in there.

we really liked these different beer coaster sets they offered but just took pictures this time and passed on them.
DSC05401_zpsb1e31ab8.jpg

they sell them in individual 25 packs or all 100 of them you can get for the price of 2 and a half of the 25 packs, so a better deal to be had.
DSC05402_zpsd6f70d54.jpg

the stores were pretty crowded and we did not see the kid cot station so we ventured on to the next land, and on the way we came across alice, but parker said he didnt care to see her...he has never seen that movie, so he didnt mind passing her up.

DSC05404_zps9591286a.jpg

so we just took a a shot as we walked along past her.

next chapter will have more photopass in france, and we continue on to another country for our food and wine fest.

I've lurked my way through your report, but it's time to come play! Love your pics of everything and your family. I am absolutely pining to go to a F&W Festival, but it will have to wait as I'm a teacher and I can't take an extended vacation during that time. I'll take an extended weekend at some point, but my LOs haven't been to Disney at all (well, DS isn't even born yet! :rotfl2:) so the first time we take them it will be for a week.

:welcome: thanks for reading along

glad you can use this as a pre trip warm up.:thumbsup2

thats great you have been to many of the food and wine times we really enjoyed it.

i saw that they announced some free dinning days for sept this year, do they overlap with your trip?

well i would have to call you an expert then if you say that they are good pictures,:) i try to make sure we have more than just the look her at the camera and smile pictures, try and catch more of the action live shots of what is going on and expressions.

thanks - saw about the free dining, but that does not overlap with our trip. We are staying off site via time share anyway

We did have the dining plan once and being able to use snack credits at the booths is just tremendous

Love the stroll around WS. I will be doing that soon enough. :cool1:

The filet sample I had was good but for a snack credit .... :thumbsup2

The chicken souvlaki was okay in Greece. Nothing extraordinary.

Can't wait to see where you went next.

Love the stroll around WS. I will be doing that soon enough. :cool1:

She likes to rub it in, doesn't she? :rotfl2:

Reliving F&W makes me so excited to be going back in October. I am literally halfway there.

Looks like everyone in your clan enjoyed their F&W noshing. :thumbsup2

Your walk around WS looks great. Lots of great food to try.

The one that was questionable to me was in the dessert section. It said Chocolate Mouse with Chilli and Caramel. What a strange combo

Catching up on your tr. Love the dolls for Noelle and we carried our dd on to a few rides too on our first trip and she ended up loving them too. We are going on our second trip this year and our dates are almost exactly the dates you had Sept 24 - Oct 5.

Excellent choices! I really wanted to try that sandwich but wasn't hungry when we were there. VERY nice of you not to make Candi drink alone :thumbsup2

one dish that i really wish i would have tried in canada after seeing others pictures of it, was the chicken chipotle sausage with polenta, but i guess there is always next time.

There is always next time! I'll need to get the fillet and the cheese soup next time. That sausage and polenta was darn good I must say.

Great F&W updates!!! Teaching doesn't lend itself to taking time off during the festival but..maybe I will be..."out sick" one of these years...:rolleyes1

Please tell Candi that I absolutely ADORE her shirt and I need one for myself...where oh where did she get that Minnie shirt?!

"The Incident"...:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I have a friend who's DH is a Disney lover...however...he has some strange aversion to Duffy Bear. He always says, "Mickey Mouse has never needed to carry a teddy bear before...why does he need one now?!?!" :rotfl: I think Duffy is adorable, so my friend and I always have a laugh when Duffy is out for M&Gs, because her DH starts grumbling about it. :rotfl2:

Sounds like an excellent choice to me.

Way to take one for the team! :goodvibes

I've had Kona's Pipeline Porter before. That's a good one.

and here so much about there food on the people who eat at lecellier we had to try some to see what all the fuss was about ehhh.

Mmmm...cheese soup...

Too bad they didn't serve you the pretzel bread with it. That really completes it. :thumbsup2

we really liked these different beer coaster sets they offered but just took pictures this time and passed on them.

they sell them in individual 25 packs or all 100 of them you can get for the price of 2 and a half of the 25 packs, so a better deal to be had.

Those are cool. I don't remember seeing them before. Maybe I need to pay more attention in the gift shops.:rolleyes1

Glad you were able to move Parker’s party indoors.
Ooh I like the bunk bed in the resort.
The coaster did look like of Primevel Whirl.
The video of the ride looked like fun.
LOL. The moose car.
Cute dolls she got.
I love boat rides at Disney.
Looked like a nice time with Chip n’ Dale.
Love front row on Soarin’. I always ask for it. LOl
We always go right when we enter World Showcase.
Cute pics with Duffy.
Glad Parker enjoyed Grand Fiesta Tour.
Nice riding Soarin’ three times.
The red dots look like something else. ROTF
Oh I love that soup from Canada. I make it at home and it is so good.
I am all caught up. Fun updates and pics.

I'm caught up again.

That sandwich in Hawaii looks absolutely yummy. I do love pork so that is right up my alley.

I must say Candi's Mai Tai looks very good too. :)

I wish Canada would have a counter service area where you could just get the soup and the pretzel bread. As much as we used to love eating there, our last visit was very disappointing and, now that we have found Yachtsman Steakhouse, we won't be going back to LeCellier.

love how Noelle warmed up to the characters!

I wonder if all the items with the DP logo next to them on the F&W boards are considered snack credits? I noticed one dish was close to $6. (Would not be worth using a QS credit for, but that would be a fantastic deal if it's a snack credit!)

Nice choice on the beer! If you ever get a chance to try the Abita Harvest (strawberry beer, it's seasonal) definitely give it a shot. I live only 20 minutes from the Abita Brewery :thumbsup2

Love Duffy. We actually had a great encounter with our son during our trip. He got on the ground and hugged my son. I have never seen a character do that before.

F&W is looking good. Looks like the prices in Canada keep going up!

Glad you were able to move Parkers party indoors.

Scott!! Recipe??????? PLEASE share!! That soup is to die for! I need to figure out how to make the pretzel bread too ;)

Love your TR! Your kiddos are adorable!
I really enjoyed the mushroom filet at Le Cellier last time we went. Might have to try that soup next time!

:welcome: thanks for coming out of lurkdom and joining in.

im hoping with parker starting school the teachers will be cool with us sometimes taking him out for a week or so. but we will see how it goes.

do you mind if kids take off of school for vacation?

congrats on the new addition that is on the way.

thanks - saw about the free dining, but that does not overlap with our trip. We are staying off site via time share anyway

We did have the dining plan once and being able to use snack credits at the booths is just tremendous

i enjoy the dinning plan when it is free but doesnt seem to make sense to pay for it, no where near as good of a value as it was when they started it.

maybe with it not over lapping your trip it will keep your crowds down somewhat

Love the stroll around WS. I will be doing that soon enough. :cool1:

The filet sample I had was good but for a snack credit .... :thumbsup2

The chicken souvlaki was okay in Greece. Nothing extraordinary.

Can't wait to see where you went next.
i do admit it was a great deal for the snack credit...im glad we had all those credits as paying 4-6 bucks for a just a few bites of food i would not have tried as many if we did not have that option.

thanks for the info on the chicken in greece i will file it away for a future trip.

hmm, i loved my next "dish" candi not so much.

She likes to rub it in, doesn't she? :rotfl2:

Reliving F&W makes me so excited to be going back in October. I am literally halfway there.

Looks like everyone in your clan enjoyed their F&W noshing. :thumbsup2
yeah she stinks that way, going 8 times a year. :rolleyes2

dont think we will get to hit F and Wine again till we go without the kids, unless the teachers are cool with the kids getting pulled out, awesome you get to go back in october...and it is getting pretty close. by the time you are done with your TR, it should be even closer, great thing about reports helps to bridge the time between trips.

everyone except parker, he didnt want anything from any booth.:confused3

Your walk around WS looks great. Lots of great food to try.

The one that was questionable to me was in the dessert section. It said Chocolate Mouse with Chilli and Caramel. What a strange combo

thats funny, i didnt even read that on the menu till you pointed it out...i wonder how that did taste? i wish i saw it as i will eat anything chili,

has anyone here tried that?

Catching up on your tr. Love the dolls for Noelle and we carried our dd on to a few rides too on our first trip and she ended up loving them too. We are going on our second trip this year and our dates are almost exactly the dates you had Sept 24 - Oct 5.

glad she liked the rides after you took her on them.

is this the first time you have been then?
did you qualify for the free dinning dates they announced?

that is a great time to go.

Excellent choices! I really wanted to try that sandwich but wasn't hungry when we were there. VERY nice of you not to make Candi drink alone :thumbsup2

There is always next time! I'll need to get the fillet and the cheese soup next time. That sausage and polenta was darn good I must say.

im glad you agree with me on it just being "rude" to let someone drink alone.:thumbsup2

why stop at just a few, next time, i plan to order the filet, the soup, the sausage, and a moosehead beer to wash it all down. ::yes::

Great F&W updates!!! Teaching doesn't lend itself to taking time off during the festival but..maybe I will be..."out sick" one of these years...:rolleyes1

Please tell Candi that I absolutely ADORE her shirt and I need one for myself...where oh where did she get that Minnie shirt?!

lay the groundwork a few days ahead of time saying you are starting to feel under the weather, then bam, your gone "out sick" for 7 days, just dont tell your co workers where you went, unless you give them a doctor note that suggests you need to go to a warm place to feel better.

it is funny how some people like duffy and others are Really Really against him, of course it is all just a disney ploy to get you to buy another character thing for your kids, but thats okay, i like the bear.:thumbsup2

ohh the shirt, im pretty sure we got it at the disney store a few years ago for her. but i could be way off.:)
