Good morning!
I posted an earlier thread but since that posting I need a bit more HELP :-) TYIA ....

Yes, I'm feeling very lucky and blessed, as a 1st time cruiser, to have booked the new Cabana #20 for my June cruise!!! I was definitely online at the right time when somebody canceled the other day.

My dilemmas are:
1. I've heard the water/lagoon area by the new cabana #20 has quite a bit of coral and jelly fish and may not be as nice as the water by the other cabanas ... Needing HELP with this ...see question #3 below
2. We also wanted to do the Rigid Hull Snorkel Excursion (won't do both so need to pick 1 ... Leaning towards Rigid Hull until 12:00 (ish) and then 4 hours to play at CC ... Unless someone can help me with why the new area is still a "Dream!"
3. We will want to spend time at Pelican Plunge and on the snorkel "trail" in the main lagoon

Questions:
1. Given we want to do things at CC will we be spending more time away from the cabana than in the cabana?
2. How far is it to walk the beach from cabana #20 to Pelican plunge? (Don't mind walking just interested in time spent getting to and from vs being in cabana.)
3. Is the water and beach area really that different at the new cabanas ... Isn't it right next to #17?

THANK YOU again!!!
If I do release our reservation, I will post ASAP so someone can get the "gift" I got :-)
Cheers!

Hi! I can't address all of you questions as we have had cabana #9. But I will say that part of the fun of having the cabana is spending time there- you know? So for us, we do the 5k. Lounge around the cabana. This year I did snorkel while my family was there and my husband took a bike ride while I was there. The rest of the time we relaxed there together. It is a personal choice, they are expensive and I would want to maximize my time there to feel like I got my $$ worth. Just my 2 cents, enjoy whatever you choose to do!

I agree with the previous poster, it doesn't make sense to spend that extra money and not spend most the day there.

We just had cabana 16 a couple of weeks ago and I will address your comments as follows:

1. The lagoon area at this end of the cabana area is very nice but we did notice more coral pieces in the sand than closer to the other cabanas, say from 1-10
2. We did see a few jelly fish but since our DD is 2, we tend to stay closer to shore and I didnt see any there.
3. The walk to Pelican Plunge i would estimate at 5 minutes or so.
4. if you prefer the main CC waters in front of cabana 1-12 to the lagoon, you can walk down and use them any time you want.

I can't answer all of your questions but I will try to help out. I have a few pictures that might give you an idea about what the beach/ocean looks like down by cabana #20. Here is the beach in front of the last few cabanas on the family beach taken in November of 2014. That is the grand cabana on the left, so I think #20 is the blue one in the middle. Someone please correct me if I am wrong about that.

Here is an older picture of the lagoon area in front of the new cabanas taken while they were under construction in October 2013:

Here is another picture of the lagoon area taken on the same day:

I have only stayed in cabanas 5 & 6 but both times we walked down and let our kids play in this area and I don't remember seeing any coral or sea life but I guess that can change on a daily basis.

Hope this helps!

Sounds like it.

It depends on how you value things. If the cabana is just something that's part of your day there, and you don't need to (mentally) get the full value of the cabana, then it doesn't matter. If a big part of the value is having *a place* to be during the off time of your activities, then it doesn't matter. Some people feel those ways! Some of us feel the need to get every moment in the cabana; some of us look at the price per hour (or half hour or 15 minutes or minute, LOL) and need/want to maximize every moment.

For me, it was hard for me to decide if using the snorkel rental that came with the family cabana made it more worth it (using something that came with it) or less worth it (leaving the cabana!). So DH and DS went snorkeling and I stayed in the cabana.

You have to decide how you feel about value, and go from there.

Castaway is terrific even without the cabana.

Double check with Disney about the Rigid hull Excursion time. They told me that it was offered to the adults from 1:30 to 3:30. Not sure about the kids version. My cruise is in late August.

THANK YOU to EVERYONE who replied!!!!

For the Rigid Hull, the kids version for our June trip is 9:00

We have our own snorkel gear so "getting it with the cabana" isn't a deal breaker, but I started breaking down the $$$ per hour and that's when I started asking myself all of these questions ...

The pictures help a ton "princessmommyx3" ...THANK YOU!!!

Ultimately I think I'm at the point now in figuring out if we want our day to be:
1. Rigid Hull then CC and using the $$$ saved from not booking the cabana for a picture package through Shutters if we like our pictures

OR

2. CC cabana all day with trips to Pelican Plunge, the main snorkel lagoon and time at the cabana

Decisions....
THANK YOU again for ALL of your HELP and KNOWLEDGE!!!
