I don't recall seeing details of the update timing posted here before. On Wednesday a CM at Star Tours confirmed that the ride will be going down immediately after Star Wars Weekend 2010 and will have its grand re-opening at Star Wars Weekend 2011. So there will be a one-year refurb for the ride.

As a side-note to this, the same CM let me have a private ride since it was my birthday. It was really weird being the only one in the simulator, but it was fun!

While that timeline does seem plausible, I wouldn't rely on the information until it's confirmed by more official sources than a Cast Member. For all you know, that could have just been idle chit-chat in the break room.

It's certainly time for a "refreshment". We've been going since the mid 90's and can't recall anything occurring on this ride;)I am really hoping for updates that include characters and storylines from the pre-quels. :thumbsup2 There's so much that needs to be updated!

Wow that deadline seems so far away after all the hype of the announcment, I was hoping for it to debut sooner. Either way we skipped Star Tours last time so we are gonna have to make it back before the refurb date for one last ride on the original.

this ride deff needs a refurb.. it got pretty stale, the best part of the ride was the queue... it was soo great the first time i went on it.. but not so much now.

I believe it has been officially confirmed that a new movie has been filmed to replace the very outdated one currently being shown. However, getting something filmed and getting something completed are two vastly different things. That's why you hear about actors filming a movie one summer and it doesn't show up on screen until the next summer. There is a lot more to a film than just the acting. Music and editing are just two of the components. I think we can expect Star Tours to be refurbed when George Lucas is satisfied with what is being shown. It is his film after all.

Wow- I love the current Star Tours, having been on it many times over the years, but an updated one would be a lot of fun!

when is star wars weekends 2010?

Still waiting on that information. We should probably hear something in January or February. I think the dates are normally released in February.

I look forward to an updated version. My DS6 really likes this attraction. He is hoping he can ride it one more time before its changes. If this timeline were correct, it would be perfect. We will be back in the world at the end of May (hopefully for SWW) and plan toreturn again at the same time (again , hoping for SWW).

The refurb of Star Tours was confirmed at the D23 Expo in Anaheim a few months ago. At that time, it was stated that Disneyland's Star Tours will close in October 2010 and reopen at an unspecified date in 2011, and that WDW would be getting the same update at around the same time frame. It would seem to make sense for WDW to make sure the attraction is open for SWW both years. Not sure how many months the install will take, so it's possible they would not have to close until fall of 2010 to reopen for SWW around May 2011, or, WDW might close first after SWW 2010.

After seeing the new face-lift on Space Mountain, I personally would like to see the same done to this classic favorite. As a PP mentioned, it would be nice to ride it one last time, just for old time's sake. I think a new fresh out look would be great!:goodvibes
