Sometimes.....you just gotta stop & smell the Sharpie! Sept./Oct. 2015 at AKL ~ Updated 9/25 pg 10

ToT is by far my favorite ride in all of WDW :goodvibes Older DS14 rides it multiple times with me each trip no problem, and DH enjoys it once or twice per trip. Last Nov. we were finally able to convince DS10 to try it for the first time. He was fine on line, pretty good in the library, started getting a tad upset once we hit the boiler room. He was absolutely terrified on the line and both DH and I were like this :rotfl2: and this :rotfl:. He rides BTMRR and Splash so he isn't afraid of ALL thrill rides, but suffice it to say he won't be riding ToT on our next trip!

The PP picture was priceless and I am so mad I didn't buy it before it expired, his face was one of pure horror. And nope, DH and I don't feel like bad parents for thinking it's the most hysterical thing in the world :rolleyes1

Hi Dawn, I'm reading along too. I ran into your at DTD a few years ago, I was with a pretty large group of family members, and wasn't sure how to explain how I knew you to the group. lol, love the DIS, and TR. Seth has grown up! Being sick at Disney is the worst, hope no one else got sick. I loved AKL, we stayed Kidani a few times. It is so beautiful, and peaceful. My DH thinks they have the best pool too!

YEAHHHHH SETH!!!!! That's awesome he did Tower of Terror! Mallory made me play the videos more than once :)

Excited to hear about your lunch at Sci-Fi!

I just found your TR! Seth is getting so big and what a cutie. :tigger:
You probably don't remember me but we have the exact same wedding anniversary so Happy 14th Anniversary! (Just a little late lol) :cake:

Oh....I know this one! It's Rey!!

Great update. I'm so worried about getting the time we want for JTA but we are going for the last show so we can see the light sabers light up, so I hope we will be ok. Though I plan to take AJ over on the bus to arrive at like 8:15 while the rest of the crew drives.

I hope AJ does okay on ToT. I need to show him some videos. I tried to get yours to play but my internet is being funky. It always seems to do this at night after the kids go to bed, when its prime video viewing time (I'm totally addicted to several WDW vlogs now). I'll watch tomorrow at work. Internet is better there.

Not going to comment too much because I'm falling asleep as I try to read and respond. I just can't hack late night anymore. I'm feeling so old lately....

Ding ding ding! Yep, you are correct! Oh you'll be fine I think if you want a later show. They asked me around what time I wanted and I just said the earliest you have and it wasn't until 4pm for us. Seth watched tons of Disney ride videos on youtube. He figured out how to speak into the microphone on the search feature so he would just search for them himself. I'm glad he was prepared for it but he was a little freaked out about the Yeti on Expedition Everest, so that kind of bit us later!

Ok, watched the videos. Good stuff! And the photos too. ToT is probably my favorite thrill ride, if not favorite of all time, at Disney. Its just awesome. Hopefully AJ will be ok on it. We have a FP for it for both Monday and Friday so the MK stuff will be first and should be a good indicator of what he can handle....I hope.

Personally, I can't do most simulator type rides (like Star Tours and the now closed Body Wars) but I think AJ is going to try it with my dad. I hope he enjoys it, as well.

Looking forward to more!

ToT is definitely my favorite! I just laugh so hard on that ride! A.J. will love Star Tours, I'm sure! Seth did. :)

Yay well done Seth on riding TOT, I still can't get Ellie on it and she's 18 next month :rotfl2:

:rotfl: Tell her just to bite the bullet and do it! I bet she'd love it.

Sounds like you had a great afternoon in Disney Springs/Downtown Disney. I don't think I'll ever get used to calling it Disney Springs either!!

Love the savanna pictures! We'll be there in 10 days! So did you miss having trash service? That's the only thing I'm a little worried about. Did you just bag it and leave in in your room? The hall?

Sorry the buses were running slow that morning! Glad you got a JTA that at least semi-worked out! Can't wait to read about that!

Yay Seth! So brave! Surprisingly, my just turned 4-year old love TOT. My 6-year old refuses to ride!

And I'm still reading - keep up the TR! I want to hear more about AKL!! And I switched my pictures over to Flickr versus Photobucket. I like the uploader better and the storage limit is 1TB...pretty much unreachable!

I'm so jealous you'll be there soon....have a great trip! We didn't miss trash service. I just threw a few Kroger bags in my suitcase and would use those if we needed to. We didn't eat in the room much so we didn't have stinky trash. So we just left it in the room next to the trash cans and they got it when they cleaned the room the one time during the week. Aren't kids so funny about what they like and don't like? Seth was fine at WDW with riding whatever but now he's telling me he doesn't want to ride anything but the People Mover. :confused3

Seth was far braver than I was on my first ride. I'm holding on to my dh for dear life. I will go again, but it's not something I'm really looking forward to!

Oh I love it! It's so much fun. It's just beyond ridiculous. Seth will ride it again, I'm sure, but he's not in a big hurry!

Seth is so cute and all your pictures have been great. We're doing Park Fare for breakfast in a few weeks and my 10yo DD can't wait for the Mad Hatter.
Just thought you should know, the savanna pictures from your room have caused me to convince my husband we can squeeze a night in at AKL when we are in Florida in September for a wedding (he's always wanted to stay there, so it didn't take much arm twisting). I have become a person who is planning two Disney trips out... I'm pretty sure it is a significant red flag for a Disney addiction!

The characters at 1900 were so GREAT! Probably the best character interaction we've ever had. :thumbsup2 Oh, and how cool is it that I helped convince your hubby to add a night at AKL???? I'm so proud of myself! And having a Disney addiction is okay as long as you're aware of it. :cool2:

Poor guy! I think waiting in line for the unknown is the worst part! I was terrified in line the first time I rode it but ended up loving it, of course. I don't blame you for laughing....I would have too! :rotfl2:

Oh hi!!!! Forgive me, I don't remember your name! Were you the person I met at Goofy's Candy Company and then maybe we came outside so you could meet Ray and Seth too? Seth would have been like 13 months old that trip. So glad you found me both that day and on this TR! :goodvibes

YEAHHHHH SETH!!!!! That's awesome he did Tower of Terror! Mallory made me play the videos more than once :)

Excited to hear about your lunch at Sci-Fi!

Glad Mallory was entertained!

Hey there! So glad you found me! And happy 14th anniversary to you too! Hope it was a great one! :flower3::flower3::flower3:

I've been reading along so I figured I should join in! Seth is adorable and very brave to ride ToT! My daughter will be 5 on our next trip and there is no way she will ride ToT!!

Very much enjoying your trip report! Getting me pumped for our upcoming trip, first time our LO4 is tall enough to ride almost everything! Just a few short weeks!

Thanks for saying hello! I was shocked he rode it too. You never know with kids....she may surprise you!

Thanks! Wow...I'm jealous! I'm playing with December and January dates but nothing for sure yet. Seems so far away! HAVE FUN!!!!

Hey guys! Hope you all are well. Thought I'd do an update tonight!

To pick up where we left off, my brave boy had just conquered Tower of Terror and his mama was so super proud! :teeth: Our ADR at Sci-Fi was at 11:30 and we got off the ride at 11:27. Yikes!!! I took off towards Sci-Fi while Ray fetched the stroller and walked at a normal speed with Seth (remember....he was still fighting a fever so I didn't want him rushing to do anything). I got there within a minute or two of our reservation and checked in. We were sat within a minute of Ray and Seth arriving. Seth loved it, as I knew he would! The food here isn't anything spectacular - good but not wonderful - but the atmosphere is so unique and we just love it!

Seth enjoying the movie clips....

Seth ordered a light-up lemonade. He loved this Buzz Lightyear and played with it the rest of the trip!

I ordered a pineapple shake (sorry so dark....food porn pics in here are almost impossible!).....

I can't remember what drink Ray got (he was sitting behind us) but it came with a glow cube, which Seth played with. I thought this little configuration looked cool.

Seth got his standard chicken tenders and fries.....

I usually stick to burgers here because they are pretty good. But I was feeling adventurous that day, and Ray and I both got the NY Strip topped with bleu cheese butter and served with garlic mashed potatoes, veggies (I think carrots and broccoli?) and a couple of onion rings....

It was good but Ray can honestly cook a better steak at home. Next time I'll probably get a burger again.

For dessert (we were on the dining plan, remember) Ray got this chocolate bar thing. It's not on the menu now so I'm not sure of the exact name. It was good but so rich. I'm not a huge chocolate eater. I like it but in very small amounts.

I got the Out of this World turtle cheesecake (with Heath Bar, pecans, chocolate chips, caramel sauce, and topped with whipped cream). It was good but I didn't eat much.....I was stuffed!

And Seth got a kids sundae (no chocolate sauce).....

Before we left our server got a couple of pictures for us.....

Meals here are always so relaxing to me. It's dark, cool and quiet. Not sure why but those cheesy old sci-fi clips fascinate kids and they just shut up! popcorn::

So after lunch we had a Test Track fastpass to use! I had 2 other fastpasses at Epcot that day (I think Spaceship Earth and Mission Space?) but I knew we wouldn't have time to use them because we had to be back at HS for the Jedi Academy by like 3:40. Was super annoyed by that. But just went with it. Didn't really have a choice! I could have just skipped Epcot that day but I knew Seth would love Test Track and I actually hadn't ridden it in forever, so we wanted to get that in. I think our fastpasses were maybe 1:15-2:15??? Not positive. We finished up lunch around 12:50, so good timing!

We took a couple of photopass pics on the way out of the park.....

This is one of my favorites from the entire trip...

So we headed to catch a boat to Epcot from HS. Probably waited about 20 minutes or so for one to show up (I think one had just left). Ho hum. :rolleyes1 Anyway, finally we’re on our way to Epcot. This does take quite a few minutes but the views are great!

My biggest complaint with taking the boat is all the stops and how long they take. It’s a nice, relaxing ride but it’s a bit slow. I think we stopped at the Swan/Dolphin, Boardwalk and Beach Club before we made it to Epcot.

Finally….we’re in! As we came up the ramp from the International Gateway entrance we could smell the wonderful aroma of Food & Wine yummies! Too bad we wouldn’t have time to eat any!!! :sad1:

The cranberry bog at Food & Wine always fascinates me….no idea why!

So I thought we had plenty of time, right? Wrong! That cranberry bog picture was taken at 1:55. Gotta get to Test Track!!!!

Snapped this of Spaceship Earth on the way. Again, too bad we didn’t get to ride it!

We made it in time for our fastpass and were inside and designing our own car in no time. We let Seth choose it all. This is what we ended up with….

If I remember correctly, he did great in speed and terrain, but scored last in the environmentally friendly category! :rotfl:

Here’s our ride picture….

We all loved it and Seth really liked the idea of designing his own car.

After the ride we headed back towards World Showcase. My stomach wasn’t feeling good – that NY Strip didn’t agree with me at all. While I was in the restroom Ray and Seth went into Club Cool and tasted some sodas. Seth LOVED that! They could have stayed in there all day! I didn’t get any pictures because I wasn’t there long with them. Oh, and Seth never tasted the Beverly because he saw another kid do it first and he wised up to it!

We had to be back at HS by 3:40, and since that dang boat ride takes like 30-45 minutes, we knew we didn’t have much time. It was about 2:45 by that point. We strolled a bit through Canada and UK. I grabbed an apple ice wine from the UK booth…..

(No, evil bird….you can’t have my wine! :snooty:)

When we got to the bridge where you go right to head out of the park, I realized I hadn’t gotten a lemon Grey Goose slushie from France (one of my favorite drinks!), so I ran over there and got one before we left. I had to down it pretty quick because you can’t leave the park with them and by that time it was about 3:10.

Still yummy….even when you drink it fast! :drinking1

We left the park and caught a boat to HS. Again, we had to make all those stops (I was thinking on the way back we wouldn’t, but I guess we got on a boat that had the opposite route??). Seth was over the waiting on things at this point…..

:lmao:

I took that picture on the boat at 3:34. We had to be at the Jedi Academy by 3:40. :scared1: Again, cutting it close seemed to be a theme for today. This time I was stressing more so than with the lunch reservation just because I hadn’t done the Jedi Academy myself and I didn’t know how strict they’d be.

And this, my friends, is where I leave you. Will we make it in time??? Will Seth be able to fight the Dark Side???? Stay tuned….. :surfweb:

Loving your trip report!!! you have such talent in describing your experience i feel like i am there with you...your son is absolutely adorable!!!! Can't wait for your next updatepixiedust:

Kudos to Seth for tackling the ToT. I wasn't willing to try it until I had a daughter who wanted to go on and I couldn't let her show me up! I played the video and I thought it wasn't working correctly at first since it's just dark for the first several seconds.

Great photopass picture at DHS with Seth looking all disgusted at you two.

Good info about the amount of time it takes to take the boat between parks! I'll have to plan accordingly! I sure hope you made it back in time!

I'm really trying to decide what to do for our Cape May ressie/DHS morning in June. Options are to drive to Beach Club then drive to DHS after; drive to Beach Club, take boat to DHS, take boat back for our break; drive to DHS, take boat to Beach Club and take boat back to DHS. I'd love the scenic trip but our ADR is 9:25 (I moved it up from 10) and our first FP is 11-12. Any advice?

Looking forward to JTA!

Great photo pass pictures! My boys like Sci-Fi for burgers and milkshakes but every time we've been there we had to wait forever to be seated!! I sure hope you make it back in time for Jedi Training!

We've stayed at the BW 4x. While I agree the boat ride is relaxing, I also agree it takes quite awhile to get from one park to the other (and actually I think, even from BW to HS) due to all the stops - which, as you found out, all the boats make both ways. We almost always walk TO both parks from the resort and sometimes back from HS. On occasion we'll take the boat if we're going from Epcot to HS or vice-versa but we've also walked from Epcot to Swan/Dolphin and gotten on the boat from there :)

The important part of this sentence is that you DID indeed stop and get one! It's my favorite drink :thumbsup2

Aww, thanks so much! What kind words. :goodvibes Glad you're here!

I actually didn't want to try it myself the first time I saw it. But Ray convinced me if I didn't, I'd regret it. And I knew he was right. And it ended up being my favorite ride at WDW! And yes, I love that picture too. Nothing like mom and dad smooching to gross you out! :rotfl:

Good info about the amount of time it takes to take the boat between parks! I'll have to plan accordingly! I sure hope you made it back in time!

Yes, please do! It's a really pretty, relaxing ride. But does take a good amount of time!

I'm really trying to decide what to do for our Cape May ressie/DHS morning in June. Hmmmm.....I think if it were me I'd drive to the Beach Club (leaving your resort around 8:50), then maybe walk from the Beach Club to the Swan/Dolphin, then catch the boat from there. That way you don't have so many stops on the boat before you get to HS. The walk from Beach Club to Swan/Dolphin isn't far - maybe 10 minutes. And if I remember right the Swan/Dolphin is the last stop before heading to HS. Also, just my two cents - I'd move that FP time. Say you don't get sat until 9:40 (which is very possible)....that would put you finishing up breakfast at like 10:45 at the earliest. But just to be devil's advocate, say you don't finish until 11:00 or 11:15, then you will be rushed to make it to HS, get through the gates, and get to the attraction. I'd see about moving it to 11:30-12:30 if it's possible. If not, just keep your fingers crossed! :thumbsup2

Great photo pass pictures! My boys like Sci-Fi for burgers and milkshakes but every time we've been there we had to wait forever to be seated!! I sure hope you make it back in time for Jedi Training!

We have had to wait before too. This time we got really luck....waited maybe 2 minutes total! And I should have stuck to the burger....the steak was good but the burgers there are better!

A bit late but joining in! Your trip sounds like it was really wonderful so far ::yes::

Thanks for reading!!! :woohoo:

I can't believe the boats stop at all those places BOTH WAYS. That's insane. If they just run like 2-3 boats that wouldn't be necessary. Geez.

I love those slushies too but my favorite drink at Epcot is the Peach Snap in China. Soooooo good! But VERY unfortunately we didn't make it over there. :sad2: Next time!!! My favorite drink (so far) at WDW is the Lapu Lapu at the Poly. :cloud9:

Thanks for the traveling info/opinion!

As far as the FP, unfortunately we are only planning to be at DHS til about 1:15 and our last FP is 1-2. I've scheduled them back to back to back. We are really only going to see a couple shows we couldn't fit into our full DHS day and I decided it would be more advantageous to schedule our FP there than Epcot that night (we have another Epcot morning with scheduled FP). We do have the 15 min grace period and if we miss it, no biggie. We have another TSMM scheduled for Friday.

Wow, that was a short trip to Epcot, TT is fun, and worth the visit. It's too bad that boat ride is so slow, it should be more relaxing, but it is difficult to relax when you have reservations. I'm always tempted to walk, but I'm not really sure it is much faster?

Dawn, that was me that met you in Goofy's, good memory. Or maybe you've not had many random dis meets? I know I have not, but I don't really seek out people either. I love to read TR to get ideas for my trips, it sure comes in handy at times.
