It sucks that the WDW looks so bad compared to the DL version. DL version is so much cleaner

When I went on the Backstage Magic tour, someone asked about this. The tour guides explained that the dust, fuzz, etc. is not on the equipment, it's ambient. It comes from us and our clothing, and floats in the air, no different than dust motes that you see when a sunbeam shines through a window at home. At Soarin' the air moves quite a bit, so there are a lot of little floaters in the air, and they are sometimes attracted to electrical equipment.
It really needs an update anyway. Hopefully they'll update and fix the dust problem at the same time.
we were there last sat and there were a ton of black spots
I had hopes when I saw the title of this thread, but I guess we can lump it in there with "the Yeti is moving again."
Good! I went last December and seeing the "lint" floating around on the screen really distracted from it. This has always been my favorite ride anywhere and am glad they cleaned it up.
Guess I should have read the entire thread.
We were there over Labor Day and so were the specks on the screen!
From what I understand, this is pretty much the case with everything.
Perhaps read a little further....
We were just there a week ago, and for the first time, I can say I was really distracted / bothered by the large black blobs the appeared especially in the beginning of the film, so I am going to have to say that no significant cleaning has been done.
We were there in August and rode Soarin' several times. I honestly didn't notice any black squiggles or dust...I was too distracted by seeing all the squares on the screen. I don't remember noticing them as much on past trips, but once I saw them this time, I couldn't un-see them! I still love the ride anyway .
