So cliche - Starting back on Jan 1

OhMom - when are you leaving for Vegas? Where are you staying? What do you have planned? Shows, gambling, sightseeing? DH wants to go there sometime this spring, and leave DD with MIL (which would be great!) but I'm so busy at home and at work, I don't know when we can go! I'm looking forward to this darn Girl Scout Cookie sale being over so I can have part of my life back!!!

GoofyFigment - Did you make it to the gym last night? What kind of workouts do you do when there? I miss actually GOING to a gym, but with DD and I involved in so much stuff at her school and in the community, I'm lucky if I have dinner on the table by 7:30 these days! (Girl scout leader & cookie mom, and now roped into coordinating something for PTO)

LMM (Ashley) - TOM does suck, but (I'm totally an optimistic person!) just think about how skinny you'll feel afterward!!! Or the fact that your ****s are probably bigger during TOM too, so proportionally, you're not so bloated :-)

Desiree - How'd the walk go? Do you walk outside? It was snowing/raining here last night, and we woke up to about an inch of fluffy whiteness on the ground. Can't wait until it's warm again so we can go on walks as a family or a bike ride with DD or a run by myself!!!

I kept up with logging my food for yesterday (didn't finish logging it all until this morning) and I kept within my allotted calories - with THREE to spare!!!

Let's keep it up Ladies!!! I find that if I post here, I end up not wanting to have to tell you that I messed up, so you are really keeping me motivated and accountable so far this week!!! THANK YOU!!!

Yes i made it to the gym :) i did 35 minutes on the treadmill alternating inclines and 30 minutes on the bike! I completely understand where you are coming from when my daughter was younger i think i was more involved in her activities than she was

Great job logging! You are doing so well! I actually ended up going to the gym after all. Wait, let me back up and be honest here... I didn't get home until 7:00 (that's usually around the time I have already finished the gym and we have eaten by then). I was having such a dilemma about going. I knew I'd be keyed up if I went to exercise that late so I decided then and there, that I was just going to go for a walk. DH convinced me that I would regret not going to the gym and that I should just go. Once again, he was right. So I went and did my thing at the gym at 7:30pm. The latest I have ever worked out. I got such a good sweat going and I felt really better about it afterwards. Now, of course, I didn't fall asleep right away, but still I know now looking back that I worked out much harder at the gym than I would have just by walking up and down my street.

Fantastic job! You are doing great so far this week!

I hit my target goal for the February challenge this month. 5 pounds down! Can't be unhappy with that! And hopefully after work tonight I will hit my target for the exercise for the month. I need roughly an hour to hit my goal. This is the first time I've ever hit both WISH challenges!

first off, thank you all for the love and support!! seriously, i'm strugging with tossing in the towel here and just resigning to being chubby for my life. and i don't want to give in or give up, i really dont, i just feel defeated. so i'm going to listen to all the wise words and rest and remember that rest is important. and as early out as I am from my adrenalectomy, i really do have to remember that pushing too hard will backfire. somedays i look in the mirror and 'see' my old thinner self and that is giving me hope to keep going. I've actually lost about 5 lbs since i started metformin in January...not much but it's motivating to see the a new second number on the scale. my appetite is really down lately and i'm actually a little surprised i'm not losing a little from not eating as much. i really need to get back on MFP as soon as i return from vegas. hold me accountable to that!!

i'm not feeling that great...so i'm just focusing on Vegas baby!!

We are staying 3 nights at the golden nugget (downtown) and one night at Bally's on the strip. We leave monday morning! :cool1::cool1: We have been several time and love staying downtown. Easier to walk around to other casinos, and a more casual atmosphere. pluse the table games are more my price range :smokin: I love to shoot craps, and we play blackjack too. the past week since i've been a couch potato alot i've been playing pai gai poker on the ipad and i think i'm going to try it this time. We are planning on checking out the half-price show options while we are there. But i think we'll go see Mac King comedian at Harrah's one afternoon, he's really good for an afternoon break. Honestly, i've seen like 3-4 Cirque shows and they are good, but i'm over them. and I found a LV message board, like the DIS but much smaller, and i've got some good tips for things to do downtown. like, i didn't know there was a mob museum :smokin: sooo...when you go, we will chat. i can talk Vegas almost as much as i can chat disney :teeth:

as evidenced above :faint:

you girls are doing AWESOME on your exercise!!!! keep it going!!!!!

Hey I'll be in Vegas the end of April. I will have to check out those boards.

Don't give up!!! I have seen no weight loss at all and I have been at it since January. However I can run for so much longer and I can do more heavier reps. Don't give up because I will know there is one less person sharing my journey. You have come so far and even though life is crazy focus on the health you have gained.
One say our kids will be older and you don't want to kick yourself for not starting sooner.

We are all in this together. You can do it!

Hey ladies can I join your little group? I didn't get back to it January 1st but just celebrated my 39th birthday and am determined to make some BIG changes before I hit 40 ;)

Fourth night of hitting the gym. Did 35 minutes on treadmill and 35 minutes on the bike. Hoping to slowly increase these times!

Absolutely! Glad to have you join us!

Ohmom - (((HUGS)))

I woke up with a scratchy throat, headache and stuffy nose this morning. I've been avoiding this all year and everyone around me has been sick. I'm starting on meds asap and I really hope I can fight this. Sickness usually leads to eventually quitting for me. It has happened time and time before. I'll start with one Sprite or something and that snowballs into other sodas and then I also usually get out of the routine. I REALLY hope this doesn't progress like that.

:welcome: WDWorBUST! We're just a group of gals here to encourage each other!!!

GoofyFigment - 4 days! Keep it up!!!

Desiree - get lots of rest and drink so much fluid, you'll think you'll burst. DH's uncle is an ER doc, and he swears by that trick! I, on the other hand, swear by Emergen-C packets mixed in about 4 oz of orange juice. It's really just a megadose of vitamin C (1000mg) but I swear, the fizziness of it makes it absorb better or something than a regular old tablet. Or I just THINK it's working better. When DD was sick for about 2 weeks straight, DH and I did the emergen-c everyday - actually the generic Up & Up ones from Target - and neither of us caught either of the 2 different viruses that had DD laid out for days at a time.

I know how that "i'm sick, I want comfort food" goes - it's a slippery slope! At some point, you just want to feel better, and if a sprite is going to give you that comfort, then drink the dang sprite! Just don't drink the whole case of sprite. Try to limit yourself to one or two of them a day, if you do. I always feel like if I deprive myself of something entirely, then I want it more and I feel my "diet" more and get discouraged. For me, I find it's better to just do a small indulgence... everything in moderation, right?

So, I've been staying on track all week, but I'm getting more nervous about the weekend. During the workweek, it's easier to stay on track... I have a schedule, etc. But on the weekend... anything goes! So, any tips? I'm trying to keep healthy snacks available - lots of cuties oranges - they're only 35 calories each with lots of fiber!

Also, any suggestions for a not so horrid dessert? I've been craving cake all week, and I'll probably make one and have a piece or two. I might have to work out to make up for it, but it'll be worth it. Remember that whole moderation think I mentioned???

I've still been logging, but yesterday and today I've had (what Katniss Everdeen refers to as) hollow days - I feel like i could eat and eat and eat and never be full. I just seem to crave more... Suggestions for that? because Katniss's mint leaves ain't gonna cut it!

hollow days :teeth: i don't remember that, is from the books or movie? i definately know those days!!

runsandjumps -- here is the vegas board http://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/

not much time for my usual long windy post. i had my pre-op appt with PCP today and asked him if in fact this hernia couldn've started just a couple days post-op when i first got out of bed and felt this horrific pain in this same spot and felt like i popped a stitch. he said yes, probably. UGH!! those residents chuckled at me when i told them...assured me nothing was wrong. UGH!!! i couldn've had this fixed right then and there

She talks about the hallow days in the first book quite a bit when she's in the arena, before she befriends rue. I'm such a geek for those books!!!

Ugh- I hate that your dr confirmed that abut your hernia. Sometimes, ignorance is bliss, huh?

Ok, I was over on my calories today, BUT I was way under yesterday, so it balances out. Actually, if you average out yesterday and today, I'd still be under!!

AND that includes spending 3 hours at Culver's yesterday (selling Girl Scout cookies- we had a booth there) and not giving in and eating anything there. Those cheese curds were calling to me like a siren though, and I resisted!!! Yay!!! (I really did t want to have to come on here and confess to you all that I pigged out on a family sized bag of cheese curds, so I didn't have them. I stuck with my iced lemon water and sold more cookies!!).

Ok... Just had to get that off my chest. Hope you are all having a nice weekend :-)

Starting back on Monday.

Who's with me?

I've been doing well, but this weekend escaped me, and I know that the next two will, also. So, I'm going to concentrate my efforts on the work week and let my hair down a little on the weekends for a little while here.

I should add: the weekend wasn't a total loss. I ran a 5k on Saturday. Then I went to the bar, followed by a different bar, followed by a potluck party, followed by dessert. That all took some effort!

Anyway, I'm holding myself accountable this week, and I hope you'll join me.

Cheers!

I totally went off track this weekend too! At least you ran a 5K!

We worked our butts off this weekend and remodeled our kitchen. Patched and painted walls, cleaned the floor at least 3 times on hands and knees, cleaned out all lower cabinets, new counter tops, new kitchen sink... whew!! This, of course, meant that we had no functional kitchen for 3 days, and had to eat out... so eat I did! But with all the bending, lifting, scrubbing, sanding, vaccumming, more scrubbing... I think I deserved some fried foods!!!

So, today, I'm eating better, although I'm not doing a great job of tracking today... Maybe I'll track better tomorrow. Because, you know, I CAN start in the middle of a week. ha ha!

Ashley - I'll be cheering your good eating on, as I do mine too! :cheer2:

Awesome, Jhenn! You should post some pictures! How did your midweek restart go?

I'm trying hard to stay on top of my efforts... Just logged today's food and realized that I had better get my butt to the gym before bed! Hopefully the scale keeps going in the right direction. Only two pounds to go before I hit last year's pre-vacation weight (that I swore I wouldn't go above). Then only three more after that to be in the next decade down!

Who else is on board? Who needs help getting back on board? Speak up, everyone! Spring is coming soon!

I'm here! Back from Vegas and had a wonderful time. My appetite is off so I managed to drink Bloody Mary's all week and not gain anything :)

LMM - I am eating better, but I haven't been logging. DD is sick (3rd virus in 2013!) and I'm still wrapping up the Girl Scout Cookie stuff - I'll be SO glad when summer hits and I will have at least 3 months off of all the Girl Scouts stuff! I've been working long hours this week as well, to get my boss ready for a trip, and I've surprisingly not been eating horribly as a result - yay!

I've been thinking about exercise and how I really would like to incorporate more into my day. I'm excited for it to get warmer out so I can go running again in the mornings. I'll have to start my mileage again from scratch, but that'll be ok, I think. I'll just start back to C25k when we get back from vacation. We got rid of our treadmill :( (it was broken) so now all I have are an elliptical that's missing a power cord and an exercise bike. So, until then, I'm aiming to use at least a half hour of my day, each day, to working out. Starting tomorrow. lol

OhMom - glad that the trip was great! I was scared the hernia was going to give you problems and put a damper on it, but I'm glad it all worked out. mmm. bloody mary's. And veggies are included!

Oh, and here's a pic of my counters, so you can see what I worked my butt off on last weekend! (top=before / bottom=after)

And, last but not least, DH and I *think* we're finally decided on a vacation. A ROAD TRIP vacation. This is SO not the kind of vacation we're used to (we're used to staying at Wilderness Lodge with park hoppers for at least a week!) but it's something both he and I have always wanted to do, something we thought we'd do before we had a kid, and DD seems to be a good age for it... you'd remember a road trip your family took as a 9 year old, right? We're going to do some hiking and see Devils Tower, Mt. Rushmore, House on the Rock (I think DD will LOVE it!), and Frank Lloyd Wright's original Taliesin in Wisconsin. Possibly add the Badlands in there. Should be interesting... We hope to leave 2 weeks from tomorrow. (depends on how one of my projects progresses at work next week.)

That's all that's new with me. New week next week, new opportunity to break my diet/clean eating habits. uh, I mean totally succeed with them! ha ha!

I just can't resist paying a very quick reply... Maybe I'll add more later.

Jhenn - I love The House on the Rock! And... I live in Minnesota! If you're up this way, we should arrange a mini-DIS-meet!

Okay... I got that off my chest. Time to go relax!
