Hey all.... I wanted it pay it forward a bit and share some info about the WOC dessert party, since I got so much help here from folks willing to share information!

I had my second ever trip to DL three weeks ago and decided to splurge and purchase the WOC dessert party as a 21st birthday gift for DD.

First up.... the calendar wasn't open to book this a full 60 days in advance.... it was a bit nerve wracking to wait, since this was a birthday gift, but about 54 days before my trip the calendar opened and I was able to book it for the night I wanted (our arrival night). I was concerned about it possibly being cancelled due to weather/wind and wanted to be able to move it to another night if we needed. My trip was VERY BRIEF, so I didn't have a lot of leeway.

We arrived at the WOC "line" area very early (we wanted to be sure we knew exactly where to go) and the check-in desk was fairly clearly marked, as was the queue area. We were first in line for that night's event. (I took a photo of the sign, but for some reason I don't see it on my computer.) We had to ask they weren't out on display, but DD was able to purchase a pair of the "glow with the show" ears! But honestly, we didn't see anyone else with them. IMG_0996.JPG

We were seated a few minutes after the designated time at a high-top table with a fabulous view. I was seated to the right and there was a light in my peripheral vision to my right, but that was it.... other than that I had a very clear view. (I love this photo of us, but we have some sort of weird light "ghosting" happening). IMG_1002.JPG

We were asked right away about our choice of beverage (mixed cocktail, sparkling wine {they call it champagne but it is really prosecco}, coffee, tea, ??? can't remember what else was offered). We were brought everything fairly promptly as other around us were being seated. IMG_0956.JPG

This is the bread basket.... tasty with the cheese....

And the "main event....." (DD's plate was decorated as they knew we were celebrating)

In clockwise order starting with the grapes at about 11 o'clock, then the Mickey coconut macaroon at 12 o'clock, waffle bowl with berries and lime mousse 1 o'clock, mini French macaron at 3 o'clock, shortbread cookie at 5 o'clock, brie at 6 o'clock, cheddar at 7 o'clock, and manchego at 9 o'clock.... mini chocolate bundt cake in the center.

I thought it was all DELICIOUS.... DD wasn't a big fan of the shortbread cookie (so I finished hers). We ate it ALL and were very full, but we hadn't had any dinner to speak of besides this. They generously offered a refill on the wine {which some folks told me was unusual} (THANK YOU Disney!!) and then offered coffee, cocoa, or tea at the end (which we were happy to have since it was chilly and we had no sweatshirts with us!).

The show itself was spectacular!!!!!!! Loved it, loved it, loved it! I will admit, I cried. It was just SO VERY, VERY special to be there with DD and to be participating in a special event like the dessert party (we are usually budget-style vacationers)....it was truly a wonderful evening!! It was so nice to feel like a VIP, be relaxed and comfy so I could concentrate on enjoying my first time ever to see WOC and really take it all in.

Any questions??...................P

Thanks for the review! DH and I are doing this at the end of the month and are very excited. Did it look like all of the tables were filled?

It was completely full Saturday and usually sells out. Most tables seat 4-5 people so if you are solo or only 2 you may delist with others just FYI. I had a lovely couple that was from the Bay Area like myself and we were friends by the end :)

That looks lovely. It's so nice to see the pictures with the review! We are budget style vacationers, too. It makes me want to splurge a little on our next trip!!

Thank you for the review! What a fun experience. With 5 of us it's out of the current budget but you bet I'll be looking for an extra $79 + tax times 5. :woohoo:

Glad you had fun!

I think getting a second glass of Prosecco if you ask is pretty standard. We got another round as well. Although I have to say the champagne flutes are tiny, so they really should give you two!

My understanding (and experience) is two adult beverages and unlimited other beverages. When I did it back in May, I got two of the World of Cooler "Blue Drink" and water.

We enjoyed it when we went last month too. We got refills on the bubbly & bread. Since it was only the 2 of us, we were seated with another couple. We have found that talking all things Disney &/or sports is enjoyable. Once the show starts, we don't talk anyway.

I can't say that I looked around a lot, but the tables I could see were used/full. We were at a table with 4 chairs, but we were alone (thankfully). I hate, hate, HATE sitting with strangers and for what I paid, I should have the option to NOT. ............P

I was lucky and didn't don't have to share either, something I wasn't looking forward to. But from Disneys standpoint you are paying $79 per seat but there are 4 seats per table. So they expect / want $316 per table, not the $79 I paid or the $158 two would bring in. Not sure what the solution for not sharing would be.

What a perfect way to celebrate your DD's birthday. I would have cried too. :)

Is it $79 before tax but with tip included?

I'm such a budget traveler and am looking for ways to cut the budget even more on our DL/Cali trip, but the WOC dessert party is so tempting. All my favorite foods and drinks and a view of the show, for a vertically challenged family that has problems with being in very crowded spaces (DS has Tourette's and feeling trapped by a crowd makes me and DD anxious). Darn you Disney. They don't take VISA rewards or gift cards, do they?

I understand, but I am an introvert that doesn't do well with strangers in close proximity.... social anxiety issues. I would rather that they offered a different/smaller table than to put me with strangers.

$79 including tax, but not tip (that I was aware of anyhow). I worked and saved and scrimped to be able to afford the trip.... so this expense was over and above that.... but since it was a special birthday gift, it seemed worth it.... and it was~! Also, since it was our "dinner", which otherwise may have cost at least $20+, I figured that into it. You could probably have bought Disney gift cards at a discount at Sam's or Target and paid for it that way. ..............P
