Hi everyone. Just a quick question. Can my 11 year old where tennis shoes or sandals (not flip flops) in the main dining rooms?

Based on the other thread, it seems he can wear whatever he wants now.

My honey wore dark jeans, a polo shirt and his comfy tennis shoes (decent ones, not 'grungey' old ones.) His feet hurt him alot. I'm glad to see him comfy.

My DS12 never needs shoes. I get him black sneakers for formal night to go with his dress slacks. Not a biggie....

My boys have often worn sandals with their khakis (like you said, not flip flops). They looked fine and neat.

My 12 year old wore tennis shoes or crocs or slip on shoes to the MDRs. I never noticed what other kids were wearing so maybe we were the only ones not in fancy shoes.

Last month my 9 year old wore crocs to dinner... We felt like as long as he showered up and put on a nice polo-style shirt, we were all good!

I would have let my son wear his very nice athletic shoes with his nice clothes, but he felt like that wouldn't be nice enough (even though his athletic shoes cost twice as much as the dress shoes), and each day he put on his dress shoes for dinner. I like that kid. :)

I wanted to add...for DS the key was getting *comfy* dress shoes. If they tortured his feet I'm sure he would have made a different choice.

Your son can wear whatever type of shoe he wants. I seen everything on the ship.

You will see lots of flip flops.

My son used to wear dress shoes. He hates them. He has these black sneakers that look like shoes. He will wear them (he is turning 12).

I agree. Don't over pack with a bunch of different shoes.

Disney's dining cress code is simple: "no shorts, swimwear or tank tops"

They say nothing about shoes. Wear what feels comfortable and appropriate!

Thanks everyone. I was thinking he and my DH had to wear dress shoes. For myself I bought some nice sundresses and sandals to wear for dinners.
