Hi everyone,
Poison Ivy and I have secured a 4hr. private tour of Halifax with Go North tours on Sept. 30th for $86.25/person. This is an excellent tour company with a great reputation and I have spoken with Laila North(owner) about customizing our tour. We will go to Peggy's Cove first thing with other options to choose from including, but not limited to; Titanic gravesite, Terrence Bay, Hackett's Cove and more.
Everyone will have the option of being dropped off at the Citadel, which is a separately priced tour and walking back to the ship, or staying on the van for a ride to the ship.
We will depart on the first tour out that morning. The van can handle 8 people comfortably. We are looking for anywhere from 2 to 6 people to join us.

A couple of folks have mentioned possibly seeing a Broadway show before or after the Cruise. Tickets for the two Disney Shows, Aladdin & Lion King, are not yet released for Sept or Oct.
If anyone is interested in Hamilton, the hottest musical on Broadway these days, I'd encourage you to check it out & get your tickets now. It is sold out through July except for the matinee on July 27; this morning, there were six or seven July dates with tickets still available. They recently released tickets through October - most Friday and Saturday evenings are already sold out. Here is a link to that site - http://www.hamiltonbroadway.com/
Hope you guys can join us. It's a 10 pax van but Laila recommends 8. Can't wait.the van sounds like a good way to see Halifax. I've emailed Patricia to see if she is interested.

Jim,
Bobbiwoz and I are interested. Do you have room for 2?
Looking forward to planning the van!
We have returned from our NYE and more trip! I was able to celebrate my birthday with my grand daughter who shares the day with me!
Next on our agenda is the DCL southern Caribbean cruise that was offered to DVC members at special prices. We booked an outside cabin, we are on Deck 2. Will anyone here be on that cruise?
Bobbi
Re the times we are in Halifax - the cruise confirmation email I received in mid-December shows our port times in Halifax as 9:30 a.m, - 4:30 p.m. Peggy's Cove as the first thing sounds like a great way to start the tour.Let the planning begin! Go North Tours specializes in guided wine tours as well, and is adding a 7 pax minivan to their fleet to accommodate more guests.
So if anyone else in interested in joining us on our guided tour of Halifax let us know. The more the merrier!
I am hoping to hit Peggy's Cove first thing to avoid some of the hop on/ hop off congestion combined with any other tour busses arriving.
If you click on that video in JQ's post, you'll see the Peggy's Cove footage begin around the 1:41 mark. They were travelling around Sept 10, 2014, to give some idea as to weather conditions as well. Peggy's Cove was not their first stop and it does look pretty busy there since it's such a popular tourist attraction.
Thank you gometros for that invaluable link regarding the other ships in port with us.
Looks like 3 ships in port on Sept 30th http://www.cruisetimetables.com/visitinghalifaxnovascotia-30sep2016.html
1) Disney Magic (our ship) does not have a time posted but it shows as docking at 9:30 am on Oct 5.
2) RC - Serenade of the Seas docks at 9:00 am
3) Celebrity Summit docks at 10:00 am
I don't know the size of these ships or the excursion times to visit Peggy's Cove. I'm guessing our Cruise being a specialty cruise/chartered sail thru DVC is why there is no posted time for when we dock.
but if you click on Oct. 5th, you'll see the Disney Magic is posting 0930-1800. Hopefully this will be the same for Sept 30.

Re the other ships in port with us - I looked them up, each has capacity of 2100-2400 passengers.Let the planning begin! Go North Tours specializes in guided wine tours as well, and is adding a 7 pax minivan to their fleet to accommodate more guests.
