Is the Sephora Makeover practical for walking around the parks? Can you book it later in the day or just early in the morning? Is it worth $50 (we don't wear makeup on a daily basis)? How EXACTLY do you book?

Side note: I am sorry for asking so many questions lately :eek

You call them to book it, as I said in the other thread. Also, as I said, you are NOT paying for the makeover. You get to choose $50 in makeup. If you don't wear makeup, it probably isn't worth it.

Don't be sorry for asking questions, that's what this board is about.

I think it would be fun to have for pictures. In order for them to color match, they put the make up on. So ask them to find a foundation for you and they'll put foundation on your whole face then ask to see how it looks with blush. Add mascara and you're golden. I've never done the makeover you speak of but I buy all my make up from Sephora and have left with a whole face of make up haha. If what larina says is true then $50 won't get you far- my foundation was that much.

Practical? Probably not.
A fun splurge? Sure.

Personally, I wouldn't pay for it for walking in the park all day, but I would consider it if I was having a date night with my husband at one of the nicer restaurants.

Sorry I've never done the GCH Sephora makeover, but I have gotten my makeup done at counters and visit Sephora pretty often. Just wanted to say that you tell the artists what kind of "look" you want, your likes and dislikes, etc. Depends on your personal preference if you wanna get your makeup done before roaming the parks. Sometimes I wear makeup to the parks but I personally don't bother with foundation on hot & active days. Unless it irritates your skin it isn't necessarily impractical IMO.

^^ Like PP said the $50 includes product, it's essentially like you agree to buy makeup and they put it on for you. I've appreciated my makeovers especially when I didn't know much about makeup before and have even had them done for pictures.

That would not work at the Sephora near us. They do not do your whole face to color match you, just your hand unless you buy the gift card.

It depends on the store I guess, there's n way they'd try to color match me on my hand at the Sephora I go to. At the very least they've matched it on my jawline and wiped it off.

But with stores like that it varies how much they'll do for free. I guess I'm lucky that my local Sephora and MAC are pretty generous. Ask for a foundation match at either one IME and they'll put it on for you and maybe more (like blush or a lip color). Not to mention that all you have to do is ask them to sanitize other products and you can apply them yourself. I've just straight up asked if someone could show me how to put on foundation/concealer and they've happily done so for me. I assume this also really depends on how busy they are and how nice the associate is.

Yeah, they've always put everything on for me at my store and you can do it yourself if you like as they have disposable applicators for everything. I didn't realize other stores would be different.

I did the makeover at the Sephora at DTD on our trip in April 2012. It was not a good experience. There was another lady and myself there. Neither of us wore much makeup. We were taught about caring for your face, using moisturizers, etc and then we were each assigned a consultant. My consultant asked what I was looking for and I said that I did not wear much makeup but wanted something that I could take from day to night with little work. She asked what colours I normally used and I told her natural colours like browns and such. She came back with purples and pinks and told me that they would work great with my colouring. I expressed concern about the colours because the purple was really dark and the pink very bright. She told me to "trust her" she knew what she was doing. I was not happy with the makeover. The foundation she chose was orange and the eye shadows were so dark. I told the girl it was not the look I was hoping for. She could have cared less. Well I paid and got my gift card. They asked if I wanted to shop right then and I was honest and told the girl that I was headed back to the hotel to wash everything off my face as I felt like a clown. The girl behind the counter, who no more than 5 minutes before told me how great I looked, admitted that the colours did seem a little dark for me - she offered me some wipes to clean some of the makeup off. I never saw the other lady's makeup to see how she looked but my word of warning if you chose to do the makeover is to look at the makeup on the person doing yours. I thought the girl that did my makeover's make up was a little "out there" and that is exactly how I ended up looking.

BTW...the makeover is done in the morning before the store is open and I'm not sure if you could spend the day walking around the parks with it - I know I couldn't.

You can do your own whole face at the store here, but they don't do it.

My daughter's makeover in DTD was in the late afternoon. We had no option of before the store was open.

So you CAN do it in the afternoon? I have people saying only in the morning and only in the afternoon.

With respect to the makeover in the morning before the store was open, this is something that is available to Disneyland Hotel guests. I booked my appointment at the guest services desk at the Disneyland Hotel and I believe my appointment was for 8am - my makeover was done just as the store was opening at 9 am.

I had a Sephora makeover one time at our local mall and it was downright scary! I wear a little makeup but I look fairly natural. The lady painted my face and I looked like a member of Kiss! I was so horrified I immediately went to the bathroom to wash it off.

But it is listed on the GC resort benefits page...

Disneyland RESORT guests, not Hotel. It's for PPH and the Grand, too.

And for those guests, it's in the early morning. The only time available when I checked was something like 7:30. Far too early for why I wanted it (Halloween party later that day), because my face just eats makeup and it would have been all gone by 4pm or whenever we could get in.

Sorry...I guess I used the wrong words...I should have said Disneyland Resort Hotel guests. It is available to guests staying at all 3 Disneyland Resort Hotels.
