Sorry if this is off topic, but I saw another thread on here regarding old gold being sold and I wanted to inquire if anyone had any luck with silver. My aunt left me a sterling silver flatwear set (47 pieces of Southern Colonial circa 1945) and I am thinking about turning it in for the cash to put towards the rest of my Disney trip. What is the value of sterling at now? Any help is appreciated. TIA

This is more valuable by use than weight. Contact
replacements.com or a local antique dealer, or
craigslist.org or ebay. DON'T Sell it by the ounce.
You won't get its true value. Good luck.

looks like replacements.com just sold a set for slightly over $1,000. 45 pieces of the pattern in sterling, 1945. You would get less than this but that is at least a balpark for you to start.

I work in a jewelry store that purchases precious metals and someone brought in their flatware recently. It was a beautiful, very nice set. They had tons of pieces including salt scoops (sorry, don't know the correct name) and other unique pieces. We were only able to offer them a price based on weight, which ended up being around $500. They decided to go to replacements and got 3 times that.

    Good luck! :)
