I know XM and Sirius are planning to merge, but I'm curious if you have satellite radio, if so which one? Why and what do you like/dislike about it?

We actually have both, Sirius in the Chrysler minivan, and a portable XM receiver we use in the house.

I like them both. I love the variety on both, and love to listen to the 60's, 70's, & 80's stations - replaying my youth, so to speak. We originally got the XM to listen to Air America, but have also grown to enjoy America Left on Sirius. I love Lynn Samuels! She uses language that would make a sailor blush and would definitely get me banned here if I repeated anything she says.

For those of you on the other end of the political spectrum, they have stations for that as well.

I have Sirius in the car (it came with it free) and I really like it. Only problem is that I live in the rural mountains and it has a tendency to cut in and out when driving. Kinda annoying. I would get it for the house but I'm afraid the reception will be lousy. If you live near a city or in the "flatlands", I guess no problem.

I  my Sirius Radio! One of the BEST investments I ever made.:cool1:

I had it since the Summer, and just about now, remember what channel is for what!:goodvibes

I have sirius. I love the new stiletto portable. I can program it to record shows like tivo. If a song plays and I like it I just hit the favorite button (heart icon) and it will be saved to the device! Plus NFL football and nascar.

I have Sirius and really enjoy it. I heard XM has 4 Christmas stations which made me think twice. DH wants the NFL stations and he is the one who chose Sirius.

We just got Sirius in our new car and so far I am loving it!! :thumbsup2

Sirius came with our car and we're still deciding whether to renew. I really like the music stations, but there's no baseball. For me, that's strike one, two and three all in one. That and I can't drive, so I only get to hear it when going somewhere with hubby. I listen on-line though. The opera station is very nice. I actually heard an obscure song I performed in college on one of the classical stations last night and I was floored. It was my signature French song. Amazing.

I wish the merge would hurry up. I want my baseball.

If we do renew, I'll be getting a portable unit. Any suggestions on those?

I have had XM almost from the start. Bought the first one for DsF as he was a long haul trucker. I liked it so much I went and got me one I could switch from car to car .Even take it for the rental if I'm going to be driving it alot ad have it hardwired in my Jeep.

I think they have gone downhill a bit (Miss my nascar) I can't wait for the merger to play out as Sirus has some things I would like as well.

If mobile TV sat keeps dropping I might just go with that

I had XM and loved it but the radios kind of broke and DH's new car had sirius so we switched other cars to that as well. I never even listen to it anymore. I don't like Siris at all. If I hadn't bought the radio unit, I'd just cancel the plan.

I prefer Sirius because of Radio Margaritaville, NFL and Howard Stern, but I do like SEC football and MLB on XM. The music stations are better for me on Sirius as well (less promos, more music, better variety).

I love XM, THe only thing I wish I had from Sirius is NFL games.

We have Sirius and love it!!!

The variety of stations is excellent.

I can get some XM stations through AOL, but I prefer the ones on Sirius.

I love the Martha Stewart channel, especially the show Whatever w/Alexis and Jennifer.

DH loves Howard Stern, so we listen to that a lot.

I will never go back terrestrial radio. And not just because my installer ruined my antenna. lol.

I have XM and love it.

The radio came free with the car (along with a two-month trial). I got hooked immediately and have subscribed ever since.

I have a long commute and it keeps me sane. Looking forward once again to the XM Christmas channel that does nothing but humorous/silly/parody songs.

My car came with XM installed, and I didn't pay extra for it because it was a mistake at the factory. :cool1: I got it for free for a month, and didn't like it at all, it sounded "compressed" and I didn't continue the service. I like the morning radio show that I listen to, and usually listen to CD's the rest of the time, so it's not something worth paying for for subprime sound quality.

We have had XM for quite a few years. Can you tell me more about the merge in your original post?

DH has Sirius and my new CRV came with XM installed.

We enjoy both of them and are hoping for a merge. Except I am not sure how the radios will pick up the other signals if you get to choose from either Satellite company's channels. They will probably have to change the signal or something. :confused3
