    Just got home from Saratoga.
The place is GYNORMOUS! I was so surprised by how spread out it is. But very very quiet. Serene.
We were in Congress Park across from DTD. Able to swim in our pool each night and have it be just us. One night we went to the main pool. Nice pool, but crowded of course.
The gift shop/snack bar is nice and clean. Lots of SSR and DVC merchandise. The CMs are wearing pin lanyards so you can trade.
The buses were frequent. You won't wait long unless trying to get from DTD to SSR. Long wait and early in the day, you may have to go to Typhoon Lagoon first, but it was relaxing.

On Saturday night, we were relaxing in our room when all of a sudden it sounded like a war zone outside!!!!!
The DTD fireworks were going and we were standing by the pool by our room and I tell ya...It liked to stop my heart! I felt like I've never been so close to fireworks in my life!! My DD and I agreed...it was kinda scary!:scared1:

SSR has wonderful pools. It has the main pool called High Rock Springs, which has a zero entry, two slides (a long one and then a short one that is great for very young kids). It has a Donald Duck splash area that kids love. Very often the lifeguards play games with the kids at the pool in the afternoon. There is a very nice arcade next to the pool my kids love. SSR frequently has classes (for a small fee) for kids, craft type things, towel animal making classes, that sort of thing. The pool in the Grandstand area at the resort has these huge spray cannon things kids love as well as some fountain type things. Very fun. Then there are two additional quiet pools which my kids love since they can often have them to themselves.

The boat to DTD is a big hit with most kids and you can walk to DTD as well. So easy access to the Lego Store!

The grounds are fun to explore, lots of ducks and bunnies to enjoy. You can rent bikes and surrey bikes which is a lot of fun and something my kids look forward to each stay.

We have traded pins many times at the gift shop at SSR, my kids have scored some very good pins at that store! And you can rent movies for free at the gift shop there too, they have a decent selection. All units at SSR have a DVD player.

My kids love this resort, we have been staying there around three years now and its a favorite of thiers. They love the spread out feel, plenty of room for them to enjoy. There are also a couple of nice playgrounds at the resort that are great for kids. We are used to OKW, POR, CBR and CSR so SSR doesn't feel any bigger than that to us. When we stay at a smaller resort on Disney property, we really miss the grounds resorts like SSR have. There are plenty of shortcuts to connect you to the main areas. We have stayed in all sections but Congress Park at this point and never felt disconnected or too far from anything. But again, we like the big resorts!

I hope your kids love it as much as mine!

I've only ever stayed at DLR hotels (GC, DLH &PP), so SSR felt like it should've been it's own city! LOL!

We stayed at SSR in april and LOVED it. So much so I just booked to go back:) I have 3 kids and in april they were 2, 4 and 7. The bigger ones loved the big slide at High Rocks pool and the little guy loved the little slide. They have "pool party" on sundays and the kids got a kick out of the games.
We didn't really go in the arcade we were too busy but it looked fun. They also have bike rentals and movies at the pool in the evenings.

We stayed by the Grandstand which has a great "quite" pool with a splash area very neat. I really liked after a busy day we could come back to the resort and relax:)
    Have fun.

Yeah, if those hotels are your point of reference, SSR would seem pretty huge! And it is actually a very large resort. I love the DLR hotels, DLH is my favorite and in fact its about my favorite hotel anywhere. But its hard to compare! Heck, All Star Movies about blew my socks off, it was the first WDW resort we had stayed at after being onsite in Disneyland. So you are not alone!

We are DVC members and SSR is our home resort. We love everything about it. It is a beautiful resort. The grounds are gorgeous. My kids love the pools. The rooms are newer and the decor is great.
It is a large resort but, our daughter walked around for 10 days last September with no problem at all. She was just shy of 4 and we left the stroller in our room.
The walk to DTD was pleasant. Artist's Palette had lots of great choices, even for my very picky husband.
We will be back at SSR in December and we can't wait!

Thanks for all the pics... it looks so nice... its so nice to see what its really like.

What area should I request.. I know no gtd but I would like to request.. is it nice to face DTD? or do you prefer the pool?

Do you ever get a free upgrade when arriving and only booking a studio? I just wondered if that ever happens?

They had like 8 paper plates and bowls, small 4 cup coffee maker with the one days worth of coffee. The had like a small bottle of Palmolive dish soap with a scrubby sponge and dishtowel and they had paper towels too.
