If you've been to the Saratoga Springs Spa tell me a little bit about it.

Is it nice (always highly rated on the Dis podcast)?
What is a good massage to get?
What is a "mystical forest therapy" ($121 with DVC discount)?
What about the couple's package for $400, can that really be worth that amount of money?
Are the other ameneties nice (like the turkish steam bath?)
Any tips?
Were you happy with the service and price?

HI!
I was just there in January. I had a hydrotherapy treatment and it was fantastic. I thought most of the prices on the menu were high, but I'm from the midwest, where I believe it would normally be cheaper anyway. My treatment was worth it, I'd do it again- but I probably wouldn't do multiple treatments! I wish I had scheduled it with more time to ENJOY the spa. They had fresh fruit out, and a nice hot tub... next time I go I plan to have an extra hours to just hang out there, it's soooo relaxing and lovely!
Enjoy!!

I've had the Mystical Forest massage twice and enjoyed it very much -- of course, it always depends on the skill of the therapist and making your wishes known. It's a 50 minute massage, with a regular Swedish massage done on your back, neck, legs & arms, while laying on your stomach. Then you turn over and it's accupressure or Shiatsu (I really don't know the difference --- but it's working on pressure points) primarily on your hands and feet. The spa charges additional fee if a fragrant oil is used for a massage, and this massage has a 'forest scent' (ie, like evergreen) massage oil included in the fee. (We love VWL, so the scent was wonderful, to me)

The spa is very, very nice -- comfortable and classy, but not pretentious. I've booked both massages on a few hours notice, but it wasn't a super-busy season.. I was encouraged to enjoy the spa facilities, which I did. You're escorted to the locker room, which is very large and has wonderful amenities provided. You change into a robe --- be sure you're comfortably covered, because you go upstairs to wait in a uni-sex waiting room that has some beverages and fruit. The treatment rooms are very, very nice....... not beautifully decorated, but probably the most comfortable massage table I've ever been on (it should be, for the price!). Relaxing music is piped in.

I enjoyed the jacuzzi and sauna in the locker room before and after the massage. It's nice to go early, slow down, and relax before the massage. There's some comfortable chairs / lounges to relax in and magazines, and the wonderful spa attendant kept everything spotless. There's lots of towels, nice showers, and hairdryers and products, etc to use after the shower. There's probably exercise equipment, but I wasn't into anything strenuous...... relaxation is my idea of a great spa experience. I enjoyed spending ~ 2 1/2 hours there.

We did the couple's massage for our anniversary in January while at SSR. It was very nice...80 minutes...they put us on side by side tables with 2 therapists...it was very relaxing and special because we don't do that type of thing often but as massages go it was not really spectacular either. If I had known ahead of time that we could have gone in early and used the whirlpool, etc., we might have spent more time. I have a hard time going up and down stairs so the climb up and down to the locker room was less than ideal but I managed okay. I did need a larger-than-usual robe and had to wait a LONG time and finally had to call for an attendant to get one as they are available "upon request," which was inconvenient and delayed the start of our massages. But in general it was a good experience. Don't forget to ask for your DVC discount on spa services!;)

I am not one for a massage really, I am so very ticklish that I have to tense up to get through it and then need a massage from the tension. I do love to sit in a steam room and jacuzzi, can you purchase some type of package just to use those?
