Yacht Club, Beach Club & Beach Club Villas

***This thread is still a work in progress. Anyone wishing to maybe add a picture to the main posts of this thread, please PM Disneyolic for Yacht Club and bytheblood for the Beach Club. Of course, we will give you proper credit when posting your pictures.

Please note that the Beach Club data is missing some photos now. I have made an attempt at contact with bytheblood and am waiting for a reply back. Hopefully, we can get the information back.

Please be patient with us during this transition time from the old thread to this new one. We are starting out slow but with much research and other’s help, this thread will grow and be a wealth of information. Thank you to all contributing!

Yacht Club, Beach Club, and Beach Club Villas ~ Post Your Photos!

    Now on with the show...

The Yacht Club and Beach Club are sister resorts in the Epcot area of Disney property. Their prime central location on Disney property, plus being a walk away from Epcot and a ferry boat away from the Disney Studios make these deluxe resorts highly desirable.

The Yacht Club and Beach Club share many facilities. Therefore, we will dedicate the first couple of posts for those items shared. In separate posts will be specifics individual to the Yacht Club and the Beach Club.

    Swimming
Stormalong Bay is a 3-acre “water park” is the envy to all other resorts. In fact, cast members will ask for your resort ID for all members in your party before allowing you entrance. A wristband will be required to stay in Stormalong Bay. There are many different sections of Stormalong Bay.

There is a sand-bottomed section perfect for young swimmers or for older people wanting to just sit in the water with sand comforting you.

The pool has 2 slides. One slide is for the younger folks and is located in a front of a “ship”...

The big slide starts at the top of the ship’s mast and takes you through some twists and turns and a tunnel. You must be able to swim without the use of floatation devices and parents/guardians are not allowed to wait at the bottom of the slide.

For those looking to relax, there are 2 hot tubs.
    [insert pic here]

There is also a whirlpool area and a small lazy river. Floats for the lazy river can be rented at the shop adjacent to the pool.
    [insert pic here]

For those with wee one who want a kiddie pool, there is one on the Yacht Club side of Stormalong Bay. The kiddie play area is also located here...

    Arcade

    Athletes
The Ship Shape Health Club is available for both Yacht & Beach Club patrons.
    [insert pic here]

For those interested in getting a daily run in, a jogging map is provided at check-in.
    [insert pic here]

Tennis courts are available at the Yacht Club and a sand volleyball court is available at the Beach Club.

    Hair Salon
Periwig’s Beauty and Barber Shop is a full-service styling salon with the latest techniques in hair care and services such as facials, waxing, manicures and pedicures. For services touch 7-3260.

    Marina
Bayside Marina has a world of watercraft available to tour the waters of Crescent Lake and the adjoining waterways, such as a SunTracker family pontoon boat and Mercury Water Mouse(TM) mini power boat.

The Illuminations Cruise also departs from this marina, if prearranged (reservations are an absolutely must).

    Shopping
Shopping is available at either Fittings and Fairings (Yacht) or The Beach Club Marketplace (Beach). More specifics can be found at either the Yacht Club or the Beach Club individual posts.

    Transportation
Friendship boats going to Epcot and Disney Studios depart at the Lighthouse near the marina. These boats also make stops at the BoardWalk and Swan & Dolphin resorts. Strollers are allowed to be wheeled onto the ferry but must be in a secure area in the front.

Buses travel to the Magic Kingdom, DownTown Disney, and the Animal Kingdom. The Beach Club and Beach Club Villas share a bus stop while the Yacht Club has it’s own bus stop. Please see specific posts for Beach Club and Yacht Club for more specific information.

Walking is another option for guests going to either Epcot or Disney Studios. The walk to Epcot can take about 5 to 15 minutes depending on your pace and location of room. You may find that walking to Epcot may be faster than taking the Friendship boat. The walk to Disney Studios can take about 15 to 25 minutes, depending on the same.

    Convention
The Yacht & Beach Club Resorts Convention Center is located adjacent to the entrance of the Yacht Club. Contact the Convention Sales Office and a representative will assist you in planning your event. Touch 407-828-3200 for information.

    Questions posed by fellow DISers....

Can I rent tubes at Stormalong Bay and how much do they cost?
Yes, tubes are available at a small counter near the lazy river, just adjacent to Hurricane Hannah's. Tubes are $3 an hour, $10 for the day. They also sell noodles for $4.

How far of a walk is it from the Yacht & Beach Club to Epcot's International Gateway?
The walk to Epcot's International Gateway can take anywhere from 5 to 12 minutes depending on your pace and room location.

Hi All - I am sorry, but I do not have the time to keep up with this thread and update it. While I wish that I could, it is simply not possible.

I understand that Disneyolic is no longer posting at the Dis. Perhaps somebody could start a new thread for the YC & BC FAQ.

SAB has to be the most fantastic pool I have ever been to for toddlers, young children, and any not super strong swimmers. My DS is 6, knows how to float, but hates to get his face wet. He isn't super tall so he easily gets tired in pools where he can't touch the bottom. We had the best time at SAB!

The kiddie pool is huge. It is a self contained pool and does not connect to any other pool. The main section of the pool is divided down the middle by a large sand bar. For the most part, it is 2' deep throughout. There is 0 degree entry around the sandbar, of course, and in another area which I will highlight later. I think that it gets to 3' deep toward the Hurricane Hannah's side. There are stairs on either side of the sand bar.

The bottom of the pool is entirely covered in sand. It is beyond description how this gives footing for young grippy toes and a no slip surface to walk through. Also, this surface is a no snag, no scratch, no bang up surface that is easy on feet, swimwear, hands, knees, etc. The sand is a large grain. It is relatively easy to wash off your skin, but it will get stuck in your suit and hair, and require more thorough cleaning later. The sand also can make for some frustrating castle building, because it doesn't retain moisture. However, this trait will also keep the kids busy for HOURS making new creations. This is the best of the beach world. Nice clean water, nice sand, and no kelp, seaweed, or fish.

And, like all of the SAB pool areas, there is a sort of step down from the pool deck to the water level. This is a fantastic way to cool off hot feet as you walk around the pool. Although you would need to be careful to keep your balance.

The really little pool and playground is even closer to Yacht Club side. This is a one foot deep pool with sprinklers in it. The playground is next to this pool. There is a tremendous amount of seating over here.

There is a great cove area toward the lake side of the kiddie pool area. This is another 0 point entry area. We were hanging out here late one evening looking up at the moon with the sillouettes of the palm trees against the night sky...ahhh.

There is a kiddie slide on the back side of the big ship slide. The pool is a little cooler than the other pool, I think because of the circulating water from the slide entry. The pool is about 3' deep throughout.

I walked out the lobby door towards the walkway that goes all around the lake there in the Epcot resort area...and turned around...

and here's the lake view from the same location...that's the Boardwalk across the lake
    [IMG]

Pics of SAB had to come next...now it's time to talk about the SLIDE...this slide has a name...ShipWreck water slide...because the entrance to the slide is at a big ship...you've seen this pic before...but now understand that you walk up that spiral staircase to get to the top of the slide...

The beginning of the slide is inside a tube...

You twist, you turn, you go under two little waterfalls...and then you spill out here...

Now let's check out this pic...see the walkway on the left?...that's the path that you take to get to the slide entrance...the path is actually an exit from the SAB area...

You have to go along the main walkway around the lake for a hot minute...can be hot on the feet...to get over to the slide entrance...

So now you may understand why people talk about how difficult it is to follow your kids all around SAB!!! And btw...the slide end of the pool is the opposite of the kiddie end of the pool...the slide end is closest to Beach Club...the kiddie end is closest to Yacht Club...I tried to get the beginning and the end of the slide in one pic...

Review note...DS did NOT want to go on this slide because of the tube section...didn't want to do the enclosed space...when I rode the slide, I heard several commentaries from other parents who were more concerned about their kids climbing up the stairs than going down the slide...I saw several kiddos go down the slide with arm floaties on...

Jeannie ~ That is a wonderful review of the kiddie portion of SAB, along with the slides. I will place a link from the first post to your post soon as I think this will be a review many people will enjoy reading.

May I have your permission to use a couple of your photos for the YC/BC information in the first post? Of course, I will give you credit for your photos. Thank you so much!
