Rope Drop in EPCOT

We have done rope drop at EPCOT and stayed at the EPCOT hotels but we have not done both. In order to go to EPCOT at rope drop do you have to take a bus to the main entrance or can you still go through the International Gateway? If you can doth both, which is better?

1- Nope.
2- Yes.
3- There are no buses from the Epcot Resorts to the Epcot front gates.

Also, there is no longer any internal "Rope Drop" at Epcot at all.
They just open the gates (front and Int'l Gateway) about 15 minutes, or so,
before the posted opening time, and guests can walk directly to their
first attraction.
