In chat last night, it was explained that they were actually referring to Lou Pearlman, not Ron Perlman. If you read the wiki below, I think you may understand the reference.

Just to complete the thread, Ron Perlman is a character actor who has played a lot of different types of roles - a lot of them involving prosthetic makeup. Hellboy and its sequel is his most recent starring role, and is currently (sans makeup) in the TV series Sons of Anarchy.
