Riding behind Engineer on Train at WDW

Is it still possible to ride up front on the WDW train? I know it is about to go into refurb but we will be in MK on Saturday and it would be an awesome surprise for my train freak. If possible, what is the best way to try to make it happen?

I've never seen anyone ride up in the engine with the engineer. Doubt they'll let you do that....

I saw someone do that at DL but don't know about WDW

I fairly positive it's against federal regulations, especially if the train freak is under 18 (which you didn't specify). I guess you could contact the tours department at MK, if it is possible they would probably be able to point you in the right direction.

You can get up in the engine cab on the tour, but only when it is stopped in the maintenance area part of the tour.
