Reward Credit Cards

Do you earn rewards for purchasing gift cards? My card (Chase, but not Disney) gives 2% for travel and dining purchases and I don't see a stipulation that gift card purchases are ineligible to earn rewards.

my card give reward points for every purchase except cash advances. A gift card is a purchase not a cash advance.
