Resort Charge at Check In

I am unfamiliar with renting points but from time to time I see some listings state there is a $95 (for example) resort check in fee. Can someone explain when a DVC resort charges a "check in" fee ?

You'd be renting an RCI exchange, which is a violation of RCI policy and could result in cancellation.

Also be wary of seven day stays, starting on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. That's another clue to an RCI trade. Plus you can just ask the owner of the reservation if it is an RCI trade. Ask for a copy of their reservation. It should look different from a direct DVC reservation.
