Renting car for the middle of our trip???

We always rent our car right at the airport. However, this trip, we are flying to Orlando, staying at WDW for 2 nights, then driving over to Vero Beach for a week, then back to WDW for 2 days.

I am thinking it might be cheaper to just rent the car for the days we need it for Vero. If we want to rent a car when we are already at WDW, what are our options? How do we get the car and can we only use certain companies? And does anyone have any experience whether it is cheaper to rent at the airport vs. while you are WDW?

Alamo/National is on property at the Car Care center & the Dolphin Hotel. There are others nearby. I've found that it is sometimes cheaper to rent on property. The Airport Concession fees add up to make the Airport rentals more costly sometimes. You need to look at the total price including taxes & fees rather than just the cost for the vehicle.

We have used Dollar. We get it at the Regal Sun Resort ( old Grosvenor) in Down Town Disney. We have gotten picked up at our hotle & have also just taken the hotel bus to Down Town Disney & walked to the Regal. Try using the code kiss2.

Another option is Budget, at the Doubletree on Hotel Plaza near Downtown Disney. They also have pickup service. I usually use Alamo, but for our Christmas dates Alamo was $600 versus Budget at $200. (Alamo will hopefully come down in price at some point.)

Don't assume a few days will be cheaper. I am going to a conference in May. A three day rental was going to cost more than my 7 day rental in April ($124 versus $112). The 7 day was eligible for the $30 off coupon, the 3 day was not eligible for any of the coupons. The 7 day rental is typically the same base price as 5 days.

We used Dollar as well. We took a taxi there so we would be there right when they opened. They were the lowest priced ones we could find.
