Hi there. We will be driving from mco to port canaveral...renting a car for one day. Just for couple hours, really! Should I pay for the toll fee pass at the car rental place, or should I just pay as I drive thru the toll?

And is there more than one toll fee for my route?

And lastly, how much is the toll fee/s?

Tia! :flower:

I never get the pass for tolls. We've gone to Kennedy Space Center many times and every toll we encounter takes cash. As to how much the tolls cost, I don't recall. There are multiple and I feel like I pay around $5 to get from Disney to the airport (one way)

Was your trip recent? I ask, b/c a friend is there right now, and said that the car rental agency told them that they changed all the toll to electronic, and you can't pay as you go...and you must purchase the pass. She thought that didn't sound right, but paid anyways b/c she didn't have time to figure it out right then and there. And she just wanted to give me a heads up...since we won't be there till a bit later...

Thanx! :flower:

That is false info. There are only two tolls from MCO to the Port. Both have manned toll booths that you can use as well as the electronic tolls.

Not true. Sounds like a hard sell on the toll pass by the rental company.

That's what I thought...but just wanted to double check...that's why I posted..

I knew I'd get the right info here! Thanx!!! :flower:

two tolls of $1

KEEP RIGHT to pay by cash. To some this looks like an exit, but the electron lanes stay left and don't slow down .... to pay cash keep right.

Once in the pay area, lanes to the LEFT are exact change and lanes to the right are change/receipts. Those right lanes can have a decent queue waiting to go through. The wait is only a couple of minutes but watching all those other cars FLY buy can be painful . . .

8 quarters gets you through the two exact change lanes. A roll of quarters gets you there and back; with change left over

What it would cost to pay the rental company for the convenience of going electronic varies WIDELY by company.
See: https://www.sunpass.com/rentalcar {IMO National/Alamo/Enterprise is quite reasonable}

DOWN MIAMI WAY, MOST tolls have gone ELECTRONIC ONLY but not around Orlando (yet)

BUT SOME rental companies use scare tactics to get you to pay more . . . buyer beware.

{btw, I drove thru this area last week and the toll info is current}
