Hi everyone:

We now have over 300 people registered for the event, and I'm closing registration in order to allow everyone that has resistered to pay thier deposits. If you have registered for a room/event package and have not paid your deposit, please be advised that any deposit not received by Friday, Feb 16th will cancel out that reservation, and it will be opened up to the general community for booking.

The ONLY way to guarantee your space for the event is to pay your deposit. Once we've given everyone a fair amount of time to pay thier deposits, we will open up registration again to everyone.

Thanks for making this such a huge success. We never thought we'd get 300 responses, let alone this quickly! I promise to post updates on DIS-2001 board when we're ready to re-open registration.

Thanks,
Pete

By this Friday?? Not a problem from here, as long as the US Mail service cooperates. but, might that not be a problem for our Canadian DIS-ers who have reserved an events-only ticket just yesterday?
I believe I saw someone write yesterday that it takes 6 days for mail to get from them to you.
If so, there is no way their deposit can make in time, as that is only 5 days, IF they mailed their check out immediately. Not a chance if there someone like me, only in Canada, who had to work from before the P.O. closed until well after it closed to get their check to you in time.
Can you make any provisions for cases like that?

Poohlovr, thanks for bringing that to Pete's attention.
Taryn and myself have both registered, and there may be other Canadians who have. I believe Taryn mailed her cheque yesterday and it will take 6-7 days. I'm sending mine out this morning, and even with express mail (an extra $7.25), it will take 2-4 days, which means it probably won't arrive by Friday. I hope you can make a provision for our situation. Thank you.

If I am reading it right.... I think that if you are getting the room package it needs to be in by Feb 16. But I could be wrong....

Good Luck to our Canadian friends, I am sure something will be worked out.

The Feb 16 deadline is for receiving deposits for the room/event package. In the 2nd paragraph, Pete said registration would open again after a "fair amount of time" had elapsed to receive deposits from the event-only registrations.

Hi!

Anyone mailing deposits from Canada or outside the US please email me at linda@dreamsunlimitedtravel.com

thanks :)

For once in my life I moved fast on something, and it was a mistake! Read the first post, phoned DH at work and told him to be at the PO in time to help them open up, and get that cheque down there any which way! Well, he just phoned me back, the cheque will be there in 2 days, including exchange and 2 day delivery, for a total of $106.00 for my $50.00 deposit!!! I hope that is the last screw up I make! I'm walking the rest of my payment down, leaving the 1st of June! ;) I wonder why "Value Resort" keeps going through my mind! LOL!

P.S. DH is not the least bit annoyed with me, what a sweetie!

LOL Snowward...you sound just like me....I would have done the exact same thing! And you know what? My DH would have been fine with it too...just like your's....I guess they're used our 'impulsiveness'....they probably find it "cute" ;)

Glad you'll be coming. Look forward to meeting you and all others. :)

surely did open and close quickly. Will there be a standby list or something??? We were at work all day yesterday, at a wake last night and back at work again today. Now I am home to register and I can't :(
Please say there will be a standby or waiting list forming somewhere. I've been talking this up at WDW every day I've gone. I just can't imagine being left out
Say it isn't so.

I sent in my check, but I haven't heard any kind of confiramtion that it was recvd. I know this was posted about before, but i forgot what was said. I'd sure HATE it if I'm sitting here thinking that everything is OK, when in fact there may be a problem. Gerri
PS. Snowwark, glad to see you are planning on coming :)

Gerri....I didn't get a 'confirmation' per se, but I checked with the bank to see if my check had cleared, and it had. :D :)

Then Linda e-mailed me on 2-1-01 to say that she would make my changes and then e-mail me....but she hasn't e-mailed me yet....so I am thinking that they are just so busy, they haven't had time to 'write back'... I better send another 'e' and make sure I haven't been dropped.

I fedex'd (priority overnight) my deposit so it would be there by the 12th. I should have just put a stamp on it and mailed it! It surely would have gotten there by the 16th.

Snowwark, I'm trying to be sympathetic! I know it didn't cost me quite as much but you aren't the only one caught up in the 'if it doesn't go now I'll be left out' panic!

You're not alone..I too sent our deposit Monday via over night mail. No where near the cost the folks in Canada had to pay! I tracked the number and was thrilled when I saw that it was delivered on Tuesday morning. So, I think were all in the same boat about being excited about this event and wanting to make sure we have secured our spot.

Have a wonderful day!

:( I only intended to spoof the consequences of my own impulsive reactions. I know I express myself awkwardly at times, and I'm sorry CarolynNC, and any other DISer, if this was one of them.

Snowwark,

I hope you didn't think I didn't see the humor in your post about sending your deposit by overnight express..indeed I did and I thought it was brilliantly stated! Perhaps I didn't word my response properly to convey my message that I too "rushed" to post my deposit when I'm sure it probably wasn't necessary..but it did make me sleep better knowing my deposit was on its way LOL!! Please do not apologize..as you posted a perfectly delightful update that captured the spirit of the moment. I'm sorry if my post made you think otherwise!

Have a wonderful day!

Don't worry yourself Peggy Sue, your post did not make me think otherwise. Everything is fine, really, honest to goodness! :)

You silly girls....I think we (yes, me included :D ) are worked into a 'tizzy'....just goes to show how dang important this is to all of us. :D ;) :D :) LOL ;)

Hopefully Pete is finding some sort of 'glory' in all of this 'tizziness' :D ;) I know I would be. :)

Good Night DIS friends. :)

Hi Snowwark,

I wasn't trying to be critical or patronizing. I was just sharing my own panic and commiserating. No harm intended.

Maybe I wasn't tactful!!! :D

Carolyn

PS: I went back and read my original post. I see now it could have been interpreted differently than it was meant and I apologize. I really was trying to be sympathetic. I was pointing out that I also was in a panic, not condemming you. I'm sorry I didn't make my post clearer. I always think twice before responding to any on line posts and try not to involve myself in controversy and I certainly never try to start one. I would have sent you an apology directly but wanted to post one since I didn't have your email.
