Just wondered if there was any more news on the tragic disappearance of this young lady?

I've not heard any more and I live in the UK.

So terribly sad :guilty:

Just wondering if there was any updates regarding the disappearance of Rebecca?

It wasbin the paper today that someone has used her credit card. Her farther wouldn't comment anymore than that

Just found this article from the Guardian newspaper in the UK which was published on 11th November 2011 relating to the disapperance of Rebecca Coriam from the Disney Wonder earlier this year. Very interesting and well-written article, but unfortunately there doesn't appear to have been very much progress in finding out exactly what happened to Rebecca - so sad : (

That was indeed a well written article, but again its all rumours and 2 and 3 hand info.

I think I find even more sad then Rebecca, is the other 170 cruise crew members that disappeared from their ships. Thats alot of lives.....

AKK

I don't think that this number is all crew, nor all disappearances. I think the actual number is from the Cruise Junkie website. It is a total number of all overboards passenger or crew from Cruise ships and also ferries. Plus the 171 number quoted in the article does not account for the fact that some went overboard (some by their own volition and some not) and were then rescued.

Also I think that the reports are all a compilation of media reports, not a peer-reviewed source. So in actuality the number may be incorrect altogether.

I was only going by the article but I do know that over any given year qiute a few crew members, passingers have disappeared/ jumped, met foul play.

I can state that as of August 2011, 9 crew members have disappeared/jumped off carnival.

My comment was more to point out that it is sad additional people have died. AKK

It was an interesting article. Of course - as stated, subject to rumors.

However, the seas were not rough the day she disappeared. The day the ship embarked and the Monday. By Monday evening, it was pretty smooth going.

Deck 5/Crew pool was indeed blocked off with yellow tape until that Friday afternoon. I never saw flowers placed there but that may have been at a later date if it happened.

We had lunch with a CM on Friday and she told us that by the time the passengers realized something was going on (just about 12 noon), the CM said that Disney had been addressing the CMs and searching for a few hours. The passengers were notified about 12:30 what was happening. There were a couple of announcements throughout the day and at about 7PM we were advised that she had not been located on board.

A very sad sad day. You could feel how sad everyone onboard was.

I hope that they do find something out and the family has closure. I can not even imagine what her family is going through.

From deck 10, you cannot see the whole of deck 5 forward.
During the daylight hour's, crew used to be instructed to only smoke whilst not in view of Guest's. Sitting on the bar stool's in front of the crew bar, or either side.
After reading the article, I think the flowers would not have been visible to Guest's from Deck 10 and more towards the Port side door's.

Ex Techie :)
