I inherited my moms (she got a different one), and do you guys have any types of making sure the hose doesn't get clogged? It stopped working for a while, and she had to come over and clean it out.

Also, any tips so it isn't so loud? It sounds like a monster! But it does get the job done. It was so disgusting when I dumped it out.

I don't know specifically about that type, but I've had the same problem (Yellow labs and their hair, ug!). I'd take the hose off and stick a broomstick through it to push the dog hair out.

I clean our church building once a week, and we have one of those!! I love it! It is pretty loud though, but I usually have my mp3 player with my earbuds so it isn't too bad. It is a newer one, we got it about a year ago. I got to bring the old one home, but I only use it about once a month or so here, I use a smaller upright almost daily. The older one is way louder than the new one. But it does do a great job! Anyway, to answer the clogged hose question, I usually stick a garden hose that has the metal end cut off down the top part (the handle) past the wires and stuff, turn the water on a little and that usually flushes out the blockage. I can never get a broom stick to push out anything.
