Quick question: do many counter service locations have "healthier" dessert options for your QS credit? I figure I want to try to be healthy and only have dessert with my TS meal--I'd much rather get a piece of fruit when having a QS meal.

Unfortunately most CS don't have fruit on their menus. Some do have the small packages of apple slices and/or carrots (like you get in kid's meals) that you might be able to sub for. Also, some have reported that they have substituted a bottle of water for a dessert. Only way to know for sure is to ask the cashier at each CS you visit.

Some CS locations have frozen lemonades that you should be able to get as your dessert choice. And of course if you use a CS credit for breakfast you won't have to worry about picking a dessert, you don't get one. ;)

Thanks for the info. Thankfully there is a LOT of walking involved at Disney or I'd be in big trouble with all the sweets. I will try to sub water and see what happens. Hopefully we can get portable desserts such as cookies or a rice krispie treat.

We'll likely use most of our QS credits for lunch--and two for dinners on the days we have character breakfasts.

You're right, there is a lot of walking. Even with eating more desserts while on vacation at WDW I have really never gained any weight while there.
Besides the walking, we visit the waterparks at least 2 times each trip, so that's a lot of activity as well.

There are some locations, like food courts, and Sunshine Seasons, that have a large dessert selection. At the food courts , and SS, they have whole fruit as well as bowls of fruit that you can get as a dessert. However, must of the CS locations in the parks have a limited dessert selection. Mostly the desserts in a cup type-cake, mousse, etc.

You didn't ask but there are many choices you can use your SC for. Sweet or savory. Check out my snacks thread if you haven't already (link in siggy) for your options.

    Have a great trip.

Thanks for the info on the snack credits. We haven't figured out what we'll use ours for yet and I'll subscribe to your thread to revisit closer to my November trip.

Quick service desserts are the biggest little problem with the dining plan I think, I usually don't want to eat dessert as I am full enough and would prefer something maybe an hour after lunch. I wish Disney would swap out the dessert for an extra snack credit per day so you are free to get an ice cream or a drink at another time.

At Starring Rolls you can get a piece of fruit, orange banana or apple, rather than chips with a sandwich. At Columbia Harbour House, you can get yogurt as your dessert, plus you can get steamed broccoli with your meal rather than fries.

I'd already planned to go to Columbia Harbor House for lunch, so that's great! Starring Rolls is at HS, right? Not sure if we'll go there or not. We plan to have a CS dinner at HS on our 1st park day (that AM we have a TS ADR at Crystal Palace) and I was leaning towards Fairfax Fare or (if DS wants pizza) Pizza Planet for my Toy Story obsessed kid.

Yes, SR is at DHS. If your DS is TS obsessed definitely do Pizza Planet.
The pizza is actually not bad. They even have a veggie one, for those who like their veggies.

The broccoli at CHH is actually pretty tasty. Goes great with the salmon.

I have never had a problem at a CS getting apple slices/grapes/carrots from the kid's menu as a substitute for my dessert. If those aren't an option at a particular place, I've often asked for a kid's cookie. These are pre-made, wrapped chocolate chip cookies that I usually take home to my nieces or my hubby packs them in his lunch for work.

You shouldn't have any issues with subbing desserts. Just ask!

That's good to know. I would rather have something that I could take with me and eat a bit later. I would also rather have fruit, so the apple slices would be perfect. Of course I could probably "force" myself to have a cookie... :lmao:

I found the yogurt parfaits to be a good option since I took back to the room, put in the fridge and used for a quick breakfast the next morning.

You can trade for a bag of apple slices, grapes or carrots, I don't think they have actual pieces of fruit at the CS.

You may also be able to trade for a bottle of water.

Most places in the park will be able to use a dessert on your QSR for a bottle of water. Most places also have chocolate chip cookies that are prepackaged and perfect for saving. However, you can usually just talk into a cast member working the counter and ask to trade for a different item, typically carrots, apples, yogurt, or whatever that location offers as a kids side item.
