Puerto Rico Excursions

Spoke with the folks at DCL today and enquired about when information on the PR excursions were going to be available. She went on to tell me that they were available on the website (not!). After she verified that they were indeed not there, she said she would put something in the mail for me.

As soon as I get it and if it is still not online I will post whatever I get.

i am also going to Puerto Rico on my DCL and am interested in excursions, although my husband is more interested in the casinos!

Hi Mary -

Given the fact that you're not going to be in PR for long, I suggest, 1] visiting Old San Juan - the fortresses, neat arts & crafts shops & all the historic places it has [cathedral, old churches, governor's mansion, etc.]. This can be accomplished by walking; or 2] take a tour of the Bacardi [Rum] Destillery, which is extremely interesting, inexpensive & not too long. You can get there by taking the Cataño Ferry, a few piers down from where DCL docks.

We are going to be on the August 21st sailing of the Magic which is stopping at PR for the day (25th). According to my itinerary we are arriving at 7:30 am and departing at 5:30 pm.

We went to PR on our honeymoom many, many moons ago..(1986) lol. It will be quite nice to pop in even for the day as we are taking my Mom who has never been. My DD (9) is particularly interested in seeing and hearing the Coqui as we have told her about the wonderful sounds these little frogs make.

I love the Coqui!! We have a coqui magnet on my refrigerator from our last trip to PR. It was so much fun!

For those interested, we did that horseback ride (not as an excursion, we stayed in PR for 6 days at the Palmas Del Mar resort, which is where they take you for the ride) and it is truly lovely.

When we visited San Juan on RCCL, we went to the El Yunque rainforest. It was about an hour bus ride to the location, but it was very interesting! Very sttep and winding road up the mountain. The kids enjoyed it a lot, and you get some great views from the top if the weather is clear. It was clear when we went, but our guide tols us it usually is not. After all it is a rainforest so it rains a lot !!

Mary - the only thing is that your DD won't be able to hear the Coqui b/c one can only hear it at nite & you won't be there then!!!! Too bad!

I'll be visiting "Mi Isla del Encanto" [My Enchanted Island] in Sept. I haven't been home in 3+ yrs!! My parents will be waiting for us @ the port. I can't wait

That sounds like a great plan to me! If you go, Palmas del Mar is where you should go. It's beautiful & very peaceful.
