PTR/TR: He Can Call Me Flower If He Wants To... May 2016 (TR - Completed 7/1)

Day 2 - Part 1: A Super Hero Kinda Morning

The next morning we had an ADR at Boma for 7:30 AM. We got down there at just about 7:30 and checked in. We were seated almost instantly. Before being seated, our server walked us around the buffet for a quick look to see where everything was located. Our server didn't come around as much as I had hoped as I'm a big water drinker. But we both ordered some black tea, "POG" juice, and water.

I love how open this restaurant is.

Here is my first plate.

13319874_760185740858_1776127239042392976_n_zpssxnjirxi.jpg

I grabbed spinach and goat cheese scrambled eggs, a Lion King waffle, pap and I covered it in the tomato stew, roasted tomatoes, a few tater tots, and then some plantains. I loved most everything on my plate except for the plantains. They were a lot sweeter than I was expecting on my savory plate.

Mike's plate looked similar to mine.

13335677_760185755828_3122416449966608774_n_zpsyi0ve2os.jpg

He's not really a waffle person so he didn't grab one of the adorable themed ones. :confused3

We both went up for some seconds. I wanted to grab some of the sweet stuff. There wasn't any bread pudding this morning so I was pretty sad about that.

13335737_760185795748_4980465755431877060_n_zpsbb5f3z9k.jpg

I grabbed pineapple and honeydew, a fruit salad, a cranberry walnut muffin, and the most amazing banana bread with a hazelnut spread. The banana bread was my favorite part of this plate. It might have been my favorite thing that I ate (other than the pap with stew). Yum!

Mike went up and grabbed...

13230243_760185815708_6951906656758560710_n_zpsqivhzjjj.jpg

A bunch of tater tots. :rotfl: Like I had said in an earlier post, we really don't eat a lot of fried food anymore so we both thought these were delicious. He decided to try the sauces that people put on the meat from the carving station. They were both delicious and worked well with the tots. So adventurous of him. :rotfl2:

Overall, I enjoyed our meal a lot. It's great to have so many options as a vegetarian but I saw a few things I would have liked to try but they would have bits of bacon or sausage in them. Ah well. I'm sure I could have asked the chef and they would have whipped up something additional for us but I don't like to make a fuss and I was full on what they offered. I will definitely be back here.

After our breakfast, we had to stop by the front desk since we weren't given a Do Not Disturb sign. We usually put it up for our stay because we don't need new towels or use the complimentary shampoos and things. I took some pictures around the lobby while I waited for Mike to get to the front of the line.

They were going to send someone to our room to hang the sign up for us and it was off to EPCOT!

13315296_760185880578_3676901045896344442_n_zpszf2xyy5t.jpg

Only a five minute wait for our bus! I believe this was pretty accurate. I think I went through the metal detector here as they were putting anyone who didn't have a bag through this line. It was quick and painless and then we were in!

13315217_760185915508_4761848801330008581_n_zpsvdj3lrtu.jpg

Our fastpasses for the day were:

The Seas with Nemo and Friends 9:10 AM - 10:10 AM
Test Track 10:15 AM - 11:15 AM
Journey Into Imagination with Figment 11:25 AM - 12:25 PM

But first, a picture!

13265918_760199488308_7481447396810498606_n_zpsqt4jdowc.jpg

The Photopass guy here was really cranky because a lot of people just kept going in his picture spot even though he had a line of people behind him waiting. It's too early to be that cranky! :hyper:

Mike had to use the facilities so I took some time to take pictures and check out the times guide.

After that, we went to check out the lines for Baymax and Joy and Sadness.

13327374_760186010318_2404608040939257950_n_zpsunh1vv4e.jpg

The line for Baymax wasn't bad so we got in line! I loved the themeing of the queue. It wasn't much but it related well to the movie.

We showed him Mike's Baymax shirt and showed him my Baymax dress! We even all twirled together. It was the best! :goodvibes

It was really fun!

Joy and Sadness were right across the way but the wait time was about an hour long and we had Nemo fastpasses that I didn't want to miss out on.

13335594_760186135068_7207653292500143132_n_zpsau4svmwb.jpg

This ride was a walk on. Never again will I set up a fastpass for anything earlier than 11 AM. I've learned my lesson.

13315783_760186194948_7084409094420243253_n_zps2augrpkj.jpg

Coming up next, I'll post about some of the first gardens we saw in Future World!

Have a fantastic weekend, everyone! :cool2:

Awesome TR so far. You lucky couple!! I find it interesting how they have these dress codes but rarely enforce them. I guess they are more guidelines than rules. Still Jiko looks pretty awesome. I stayed at AKL once, years ago. I loved it there. I'll have to try it again and maybe rent some DVC points to stay there.

The dress code thing confuses me so much. Mike and I are sticklers for following the rules so even if we are the slightest off, it bothers us. I can understand why they've had to let it slide. Who has time to go back and get ready to go eat? Everyone is trying to cram so much into their vacations.

You should definitely go back to AKL. My friend is actually going to book her trip there now because of my photos!

I'm glad your breakfast was enjoyable!

LOVE all your Epcot photos, especially the PP one of you two.

Yay you got to meet Baymax! Very important since you both were in your Big Hero 6 gear. Your dress is adorable!!

Thank you! I really love how a lot of the photopass pictures came out. I was always on the fence about getting it, but now that it's included I don't think I could go without it!

And thanks!! I got a lot of compliments on my dress that day and saw only one other person in the park with it. Meeting Baymax all dressed in his gear was so fun! I'm definitely going to plan on meeting a character when I have something of their's on in the future.

Day 2 - Part 2: Future World Flower & Garden

After our journey under the sea with Nemo and friends, we decided to check out the gardens and topiaries around Future World. This will be a pretty picture heavy update.

First we came across the Health and Healing Garden.

13307281_760186179978_6997511819778180372_n_zpssr2ur3i5.jpg

And we found one of my favorite topiaries!

13312705_760186229878_2304729441597227295_n_zpsbfpsfd1z.jpg

13315782_760186279778_8275340011686408792_n_zpsejqtm0en.jpg

Mike was disappointed that the brooms didn't have the cascade of blue flowers like the ones found at Hollywood Studios.

Next we went into the Butterflies on the Go exhibit. We have something like this at our museum here in Milwaukee. We found it odd that there weren't postings about not touching the wings of the butterflies. The oils on your fingers can actually damage their wings to the point where they won't be able to fly anymore... maybe Disney has a close eye on guests but I feel like I should have read that warning somewhere in the exhibit.

13307458_760186264808_5890447871877662652_n_zpsuxq8xb0n.jpg

I received my first stamp in my passport!

EPCOT is just so gorgeous during the Flower and Garden festival! I was in heaven.

13321660_760186534268_889869453172065788_n_zpsp88ocaed.jpg

Next we came across my favorite garden - the Backyard Habitat.

13335903_760186539258_1738128969368671126_n_zpsbylzna2z.jpg

This was my favorite of the gardens. I can't wait to have a home of my own. I definitely want to implement some of the things they had here. Especially the rock pile that helps house insects and other small creatures that like dark, damp spaces.

13327386_760186614108_4985914659185360350_n_zpsvslp3pgk.jpg

Next we went to the Music Garden Melodies.

13321830_760199832618_3544097169001121530_n_zpshtahwm7d.jpg

I loved this Chip and Dale topiary. It was probably my favorite!

We went through the Cactus Road Rally to explore some more of the Future World gardens.

We swung by Mission Space to check out the Buzz Lightyear topiary. The photopass guy there seemed really rushed. We were barely ready for him to take our picture, but I think it came out well.

13307195_760199972338_1941470868529467259_n_zps7iik16rm.jpg

We then headed over to Test Track for our fastpass. I believe the line was around 45 minutes at this point so it was a good use of our pass.

We were then off to check out the Festival Center to see if they had any pins or mugs left.

Did we get distracted on the way there? You bet! Did they have what I was looking for? Hmm... all that and more... coming up in the next post!

Those are some really pretty pictures. I really like your husbands shirt. Where did he get that one? I have always wanted to go to Flower and Garden. But I am afraid my wife's allergies would go crazy. I'll have to live through your pictures and TR. LOL.

Thanks!! On our October trip, I plan to take more time to take pictures. A lot of the ones I took were just taken as we walked on by. :)

Mike got his Baymax shirt from Hollywood Studios in February 2015 outside of the Animation Academy where Baymax was meeting with Hiro then. I'm not sure you'll be able to find it there now... I don't remember seeing it last weekend.

Bummer about your wife's allergies! It smells amazing... but I guess that could be horrible for anyone who can't handle all that pollen. Best she stay away from it. I have plenty more pictures coming! :)

Love all your pictures in this update! I absolutely love flower & garden and hope to go back again sometime!

Thank you! I loved taking all of these pictures. Flower and Garden was so fantastic! I'm looking forward to going back in March to check it out when it's not as hot out. :)

Day 2 - Part 3: Future World Flower & Garden Continued

After Test Track, we were off to check out the Festival Center! I took pictures along the way.

13239945_760187093148_1067111636994378223_n_zps9zydvn7t.jpg

We ran into the EPCOT JAMMitors and watched them for a while. They were really fantastic. I recommend stopping to check them out if you have the time! It reminded me a lot of STOMP. Idk if anyone even remembers that... lol.

13330963_760187118098_7299728771922301743_n_zpsbh1pto9k.jpg

We stopped and checked out a few more gardens on the way.

13226772_760187267798_394584027699077749_n_zpszxq9pbiz.jpg

I really wanted to pick up a Flower and Garden mug and festival pin. Of course, they were out of both. They still had some of the Annual Passholder shirts, so I picked up one. Mike tried on this hat.

13336051_760187237858_7956985833363484492_n_zpsbeftevky.jpg

We did not get it. LOL!

We made the round through the center and there was barely anyone there. They did have a seminar going on which was roped off about potting plants. It was already past 11 at this point which meant that the Outdoor Kitchens were open!! So off we went to start our tasty adventure.

I'll leave that here for now. Lots of work to do today!

More great pictures!

I'm sorry they were out of what you were looking for. I hope you were able to find it elsewhere! I know there's a booth as you're walking to WS that sells festival items (at least there was last year). But why didn't Mike get that hat?! Haha just kidding :rotfl2:

Thank goodness. People over 50 who garden should only be wearing hats like that. People like my dad. LOL. But I can see him pulling it off when he gets older. But you have to wear the pastel pink shoes shorts and polo shirt with it. LOL.

:rotfl2:

We did check out the small vendor tent that was in the middle of Future World. They did have a shirt there that I liked, but I did decide on the Passholder one at the Center. I picked up the F&G poster there for my friend since she decided she wanted it. It's weird that they only had small amounts of certain things in different locations. Hopefully it's easier to find stuff when we go to Food and Wine and also back to Flower and Garden in March. Fingers crossed!!

There was a Passholder version of the hat that I actually did consider getting for Mike. But after trying on the regular one... lol!!!

Day 2 - Part 4: World Showcase Flower & Garden

It was after 11 which meant it was finally time to start exploring the Outdoor Kitchens!! This and seeing the topiaries was our main goal for the day. Anything else was just an extra bonus.

Our first stop was La Isla Fresca.

13307210_760187487358_5987379529777149186_n_zpsmqkdugt4.jpg

Here we ordered the Frozen Simply Tropical Juice Drink (non-alcoholic). We just wanted something to refresh us and the only veggie option here was a dessert. Also, I was able to get a stamp in my free passport at every register that we went to when we ordered food. What a great souvenir!

13315541_760187512308_7965106466816311258_n_zpsfwcdbxbs.jpg

Frozen Simply Tropical Juice Drink (non-alcoholic)

We weren't sure what the flavor was until we got it. It was mango. I thought - "Awesome! Mike doesn't like mango so this is basically all mine!"... Who would have known that all of a sudden he does like mango and half of it was already gone?

Needless to say this was delicious and exactly what we needed to start our taste adventure. We explored a little of the gift shops right at the entry point before heading towards Mexico and Jardin de Fiestas.

IMG_2203_zpsegoctfmz.jpg

Here we ordered the quesadilla and the sangria.

13307206_760187522288_5311719839060181532_n_zpsvbmzk4br.jpg

Corn Tortilla Quesadilla and Elderflower Watermelon Sangria

This quesadilla was AMAZING!! It was my favorite thing that we tried. The salsa was the best part. The sangria... well, it was fine. It was fresh and good but I feel like I should have tried the margarita instead.

There was another garden on our way further into the Mexico pavilion.

13321883_760187552228_7371720020050112404_n_zpshwvpfkd5.jpg

Since it was a hot day and I absolutely adore the ride in Mexico, that was where we headed to next! The pavilion was pretty crowded, but Gran Fiesta Tour was a walk on!

The new audioanimatronics at the end are amazing!

Next, we went through another garden. I knew this would be my mother-in-laws favorite since she's obsessed with orchids so I took some extra pictures.

There wasn't a Flower and Garden booth in Norway... but I did want to check out the new Frozen restrooms that were open. I was able to snap one picture. There was only one other lady in there who was also freaking out about the new bathrooms. They were clean and the color blue they used is gorgeous in person!

We found a Photopass photographer after our pit stop and we got some really fun pictures here!

Sven!! Where did you come from?!

Obviously we are very tough vikings! Don't mess with us! Hahaha.

I love the Anna and Elsa topiaries. I know people are so over Frozen. But I thought it was a great, fun movie. I'm glad that they are pushing out a bunch of it for the little kids. I had to wait YEARS for my Little Mermaid ride. Just sayin'.

13321772_760187761808_2017718458957301338_n_zpssbfxj19w.jpg

On our way into China, we stopped at another booth - The Lotus House.

Vegetable Spring Roll and Beijing-Style Candied Strawberries

These were both delicious! Mike and I both really loved the sauce that came with the spring rolls. They were perfectly done and actually edible right away. I really loved the candied strawberries, but Mike wasn't too much of a fan. He liked them but there were other things he enjoyed much more later.

We then made our way into Germany. This is where we found the Lion King topiaries!

The Lion King is such a great movie. I've been wanting to watch it for a while, but I don't think I'd make it through the wildebeest part.

Anyways - off to the Outdoor Kitchen in Germany!

13335531_760187921488_417596176752382114_n_zpsrdu4hrkd.jpg

The only vegetarian option here was dessert, so we opted to get Mike a beer from here.

13319974_760187961408_4885388750342609320_n_zpspmfldspr.jpg

He ordered the black lager that they had on the menu. Apparently he even ordered it correctly. He did take German for three years in High School... not that he remembers many phrases or anything. He enjoyed this. He likes dark beers a lot.

We then found the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs topiary here.

It's just impossible for me to get this in a full picture and without a crowd of people. Maybe next year!

Coming up, we'll make our way through some more countries and food booths!! Happy Wednesday. :)

Sounds like a great start to your tour of World Showcase! I'm glad you were finding things you enjoyed at the booths! The new Frozen themed bathrooms are adorable- thanks for posting a pic of them! :thumbsup2

I was a little concerned about food choices. And I'm sad that I didn't feel like trying all these desserts!! Had it not been a 90 degree day, I think I would have been up for the challenge but that sun is killer in Florida!!

I really loved the restrooms. The floor was really great with the wooden type plank look!! I can't wait to see what the area looks like when it's all complete. I mean, I'm sure these will be some of the most popular bathrooms there though so I'm glad I saw them when I did!

Woohoooooo, guys! Disney released the Flower and Garden dates and my trip lands in them in March! I thought they would, but it's not confirmed!

Day 2 - Part 5: World Showcase Flower & Garden Continued

After checking out some of the shops in Germany to escape the sun, it was time for Italy!

We made a stop at the Primavera Kitchen.

13319861_760188046238_5222851019136846418_n_zpsjy4hhh57.jpg

Here we ordered the vegetarian dish - the Mezze Lune Primavera. We did discuss getting the dessert here but I'm not a huge pistachio fan so we passed.

13321857_760188076178_4612679423003145763_n_zpsk2pjhpe7.jpg

Mezze Lune Primavera

Mike absolutely loved this dish. We don't eat at a lot of Italian at home because I'm lactose intolerant. I don't even know how many pills I took over this full day, but I definitely took one before this cheesy dish. That probably explains why I didn't really care for it. It was basically a huge pile of cheese and some noodles. I know, I'm a horrible Wisconsin person for not liking cheese! But my body literally rejects it so what can I do??

We took some time to appreciate our perfect view here.

13325592_760188131068_498911897080682881_n_zpscj4ftxj2.jpg

We continued to make our way and spotted Lady and the Tramp!

13335845_760188151028_4001822138158291681_n_zpsvn1iiner.jpg

We also spotted a Photopass photographer who was very alone and sad looking in the blazing sun.

13335539_760200546188_5055073222804472145_n_zps4ttikb85.jpg

I love when Photopass photographers take shots of you in both directions of their locations! EPCOT is such a beautiful park.

We came across another garden here in Italy.

13330938_760188175978_7966152717020744962_n_zpswlqpvjct.jpg

And we took some time to explore a little.

13267959_760188195938_114881626199134693_n_zpsu7j3rxhm.jpg

13325729_760188275778_8031175393977155631_n_zpsea40nxcm.jpg

We took some time to sit here and reapply our sunscreen. DON'T FORGET TO DO THAT!!! I still burned a little this day, but it could have been a million times worse. Just a friendly PSA reminder.

After that, Mike went to refill the water and I found a spot to sit and watch the acapela group in the United States - American Music Machine.

13321916_760188225878_8256823497898190019_n_zpshn8eqx03.jpg

13327398_760188250828_5626737583971273396_n_zpsvwrycctq.jpg

It was nice to kick back and relax in the shade and watch some entertainment. They were really good - and then Mike told me they were clearly cheating with their microphones and some sort of electronic thingy ma jigger... but whatever. I loved it!

When they finished up their set, we explored a bit of America.

13331095_760188385558_109958044635410111_n_zps9r3ftcmc.jpg

13269300_760188395538_155083788196672209_n_zpsyaoahsmq.jpg

And as you probably guessed it - there was nothing at the BBQ Outdoor Kitchen for us other than dessert. It did smell fantastic though! Mike could have grabbed a beer here, but this was probably the only place there was actually a line so we decided to keep on truckin!

Next up was Japan. We probably spent the most time in this pavilion. We love to explore the shops and the "museum" in the back. But first, some more food!

13335607_760188435458_7660719082191090048_n_zpsmfkhbibp.jpg

On the food group I'm a part of, everyone raves about the Frushi so I knew I had to give it a taste. I also saw a slushy alcoholic drink that sounded good - the Yuzo Plum Wine Slushy!

13307434_760188470388_8419922068029076122_n_zpsq06p39x5.jpg

Frushi and Yuzo Plum Wine Slushy

Mike loved the Frushi. He liked it a lot more than the strawberries. I disagreed. The texture of this was a bit too weird for me. However - this plum wine slushy was magical! I think it'll be one thing I repeat next year at Flower and Garden for sure. I really loved it. It was a bit "dry" like wine which was weird because it was slush, but I really enjoyed it.

They had some bonsai trees here.

13245404_760188450428_8612284883557692259_n_zpsf5fctcdt.jpg

I just love the architecture here!

13307265_760188490348_7378058349971173918_n_zpssxteazel.jpg

We came across another garden - the Japanese Mini Garden. This was probably one of my favorites.

13336000_760188515298_129447881776563989_n_zpsrwt2uwsy.jpg

We did some exploring and just a small amount of shopping here. I found a penguin pen for my mom. She was watching the cats so I needed to get her something to thank her!

Speaking of cats, there was a booth on our way to the next country where they had these fantastic cat paintings!

13307319_760188510308_9123279785377389361_n_zpscakspkve.jpg

13327480_760188540248_6386596556616578183_n_zpsba4mwkx8.jpg

The artist was there signing prints and everything. We didn't purchase anything but we did grab a card. I'm not sure I'm to that level of crazy cat lady just yet where I also want up prints of cats... who am I kidding? Of course I am! But we just don't have the space in our apartment for it.

Onward to Morocco!

13325678_760188550228_3761609936722379548_n_zpsepjtlvfi.jpg

This was a food booth I was looking forward to. We ordered the Falafel Pocket here, of course.

13332915_760188575178_1471376955655999072_n_zpsy6gqzlqt.jpg

Falafel Pocket

While this was good, it wasn't nearly as good as the falafel we just had the day before at The Mara. The Mara really spoiled us. We chose to eat this in the smoking section right over there since nobody was in there smoking and there was a ton of seating - in the shade! I wasn't going to pass that up.

After walking through Morocco, we came across the Florida Fresh stand.

13256113_760188570188_7415614481621478635_n_zpsvmkwsr5q.jpg

13315726_760188605118_5715504087520273291_n_zpsgdabrs11.jpg

Here we ordered the Kale Salad and a non-alcoholic version of the Watermelon Cucumber Slushy. I will note that there was plenty of seating here set up... in the shade - with actual tables. And all taken up by people not actually eating Florida Fresh stuff, or eating at all. Here we ended up at a high top directly in the blazing sun. I think they really need to add some umbrellas or something for the guests here. Especially on such hot, sunny days. I know it may impede some views and what not, but sun safety should be a priority.

Anyways...

13339532_760188600128_3187731398789728439_n_zpseloopmin.jpg

Kale Salad and Watermelon Cucumber Slushy (non-alcoholic)

This kale salad was so fresh and there wasn't a hint of bitterness that you can get with kale. The slushy was also fantastic. I really loved both of these items from this kitchen.

We then made our way into France.

13312719_760188640048_6064217587807968635_n_zpsbfwnfdha.jpg

This was one of the long lines we did wait in. I had heard great things about the La Vie en Rose Frozen Slushy so I had to try it.

13336060_760188630068_1771075659189361824_n_zpsfrmycnlo.jpg

Tarte a l'Onion Alsacienne and La Vie en Rose Frozen Slushy

We also got the onion tart that was available. The tart was absolutely delicious!! The slushy, not so much. It wasn't really my style. It was nice on the hot day, but I just wasn't in love with it like everyone else seems to be.

13335808_760188719888_1761492723914897114_n_zpsyh7vecnu.jpg

We found another Photopass photographer here near the fountain and took a goofy picture.

13307227_760200965348_3908136870742696311_n_zpsjyhgn0fk.jpg

And then we made our way around to check out the topiaries!

He took a shot of us in France AND Japan. These are some of my favorite pictures.

I know I'm reaching my photo limit, so I'll finish this up in the next post that I'll work on right now!

Day 2 - Part 6: World Showcase Flower & Garden Take 3

We came across some more topiaries so we stopped for some more photos, of course!

Mike went into the Rose and Crown pub here and got some Bass. It's a tradition and they accept the Tables in Wonderland card there, even at the pub so he got 20% off. While he was in there, a Characterpalloza had opened up! I texted him but he didn't respond so I thought he didn't really care. He came out with his beer and he's like "What's going on over there?" and I was like "Oh, just the Characterpalooza." And he started freaking out about how we needed to go and I could get pictures with characters. Haha - I thought he didn't care!! But his phone wasn't really working this whole weekend so that's why. So we got up and ran over there.

There also was Rafiki and Pooh... and quite a few others too. But I went to the guys who didn't have long lines since Mike was trying to hold everything, take pictures, and drink a beer all at the same time. I'm absolutely obsessed with the pictures I got though!! Characterpalloozas are so great!!

We found another booth that was selling some fun garden items.

13335793_760189468388_6222008070204950058_n_zpshwj6ziuu.jpg

We made our way through Canada where there weren't any Outdoor Kitchens for Flower and Garden. We did swing by to see the new bar that opened up though. It was pretty empty so I think it's something we will plan to check out on a future trip.

So that's it for our World Showcase adventure! We didn't backtrack or anything at all. We decided that we were going to need to still eat so we would hit a few things in Future World (coming up) and then head on back to the hotel to change and go to Disney Springs!

Overall - I really loved the Flower and Garden Festival. But I'm looking forward to going back when it's not 90 degrees. That way I'll hopefully be up for trying some more of the drinks and desserts. I really loved the candied strawberries, the quesadilla... and gosh, I liked almost everything I had in some way or another other than the Frushi. I can't wait to go back!

We took some time to sit here and reapply our sunscreen. DON'T FORGET TO DO THAT!!! I still burned a little this day, but it could have been a million times worse. Just a friendly PSA reminder.
Curse my pasty white skin! LOL! I feel the same way. I burn so easily and really have to put sunscreen on to avoid the pain of a severe sun burn later on.

More cute PP pics!

I am sad I never got to try frushi, they were always out when we went to the booth! I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it though. That slushy does sound yummy!

Characterpalooza! How fun!! You got to meet some fun characters. I absolutely love the photo with Chip & Dale, that is adorable!

I'm glad you enjoyed F&G, it sounds like you guys made great use of your time!
