Does the Disney-DCL bus transportation from the Port to a WDW Resort work like Magical Express? I know there is a cost, but do you lose your bags the night before on the cruise and then they just show up in your resort room?

You can be in either a DCL bus, or you can also be in a mears shuttle. Either way, you claim your luggage in customs and put it under the bus/vehicle that takes you to the resort, and then you take it to your room, or leave it with luggage/bell services if the room isn't ready yet.

The cost is $35 per person Port to Resort. As Donald said, you need to claim you luggage from customs to take with you to your resort.

Can you just take it with you off the boat? I know it may be a hassle at breakfast, but just wondering if it was an option.

Of course you can take your luggage with you. As you mentioned, it will be a hassle at breakfast, but you can do it.

You still have to go through customs whether you take your luggage with you or not. You really wouldn't be saving that much time by dragging your luggage to breakfast with you.
