I am trying to decide between PC vs ASM. This will be our first trip and looking for the pros & cons. I have been researching for awhile but could use a little more imput. I did try searching for a similar thread but didn't find anything. I may have worded it incorrectly.

We stayed at POP last year and will be staying at ASMu this year/ We loved the POP and were very hesitant to book anywhere else but variety is the spice of life so we took the leap. I'll let you know which was better when I come back.

It's a preference...don't worry you can't go wrong. We've been to both but think we'll try POP again the next time we do the value route...hoping to stay at Coronado Springs in the fall.
:)

In 1999 we stayed at ASMo. It was nice and I wouldn't hesitate to return. I don't care as much for the theming at ASMu or ASSp, but the rooms are the same. In 2006 we stayed at Pop Century. I really like the atmosphere there. Pop is my favorite of the two. We plan on going back in August.

stayed at both. the values are pretty much cookie cutter, it depends on which type of HUGE icons you prefer to look at.

My favorite Disney resort is All Star Music.

Here is a list of differences between the two resorts.

Pop is newer.
Pop was opened in 2003.

All Star Music was opened in 1994.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
All Star Music is undergoing a refurbishment of all of the rooms and is slated to be completed by June 2007.
The Calypso and Jazz buildings are finished and the last I heard they were working on the Broadway buildings.

Dh and I stayed in refurbished Calypso room last September.

The refurbished Calypso room we stayed in looked just the photos of the refurbished Jazz Inn room that are posted on allearsnet.

Here is the link with photos of the newly refubished rooms at All Star Music

.

Pop has a lake. The All Stars do not have a lake.

When staying at the All Stars you use any of the All Stars pools.
The 3 All Stars are within easy walking distance of each other.

The gift shops are separate from the food court at the All Stars.
The gift shop and food court are combined at Pop.

Pop has 2,880 guest rooms 4 floors in each building.
Each of the All Stars has 1,960 rooms. 3 floors in each building.

Both Pop and the All Star rooms are 260 square feet.

The beds at the All Stars are movable.

the beds at Pop at bolted to the floor.

The far bed at an All Star is closer to wall. And the near bed is not as close to the doorway as it is at Pop

The far bed at Pop is pulled away from the wall more. The near bed is closer to door.

For most people that would not make a difference but since I need an EVC
the bed being so near the door at Pop makes it more difficult for me to back my EVC in. :moped:

Have fun at Disney wherever you choose to stay!:wizard:

Try looking at this thread...very fun pictures:

I've never stayed at either...but looking forward to Pop in September! YAY!

Wow. Great Pics. Does any one know if there is a thread like this for the ASMu? I would love to see pictures people have taken at the resort as opposed to the ones posted on individual websites. Don't get me wrong, I those pictures are really good but there is something to be said about the pictures people are taking while on vacation.
