Just reserved a preferred room for May 7th - 12th for myself and my 3 kids. I am wondering what buildings are preferred and where is the best place to stay? I would like to be close to the food court and the pools. Bussing is not an issue since I will be driving anyway and have a car on site.

TIA!
Michelle

This map indicates the preferred room areas in Yellow.

Does anyone know if this map is still accurate? The lady I'm working with at Small World Vacations is saying that the entire '60s section is preferred. I am wondering if they changed which rooms are preferred??

TIA for any help!!

The best thing about POP is that it is a pretty compact resort. There is no location at the resort that is more than a 5 min or so walk to the main area. You may want to keep in mind: the pools--particularly the main pool--can get VERY loud...even late at night. So you may opt for a room not facing one if you can.

Thanks for the map of the preferred rooms. I am calling right now to request the building of our chioce.

You need a different lady at Small World Vacations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back when Pop Century opened - slightly more than five years ago - that information would have been accurate, and would have remained accurate for either one and a half or two and a half years.

HOWEVER! Effective either 8/1/05 or 8/1/06, due to many, many, MANY requests for rooms in the 70s and 50s which were Standard but close to Classic Hall (some even closer than some rooms in the 60s), Disney changed that.

The rooms in the 60s facing the lake were redesignated as Standard, and the rooms outlined in yellow in the map above were redesignated - or in the case of the 60s, remained - Preferred.

And you didn't ask, but at the same time, four additional buildings at All Star Movies were redesignated Preferred - also due to numerous requests.

Nope, those maps are very up to date and accurate. Seem to still be misinformation out there. When POP first opened, up to about 2 yrs ago, only the 60's bldgs were preferred rooms...the entire two bldgs.
Now, however, parts of 60's are preferred, and they have made other areas preferred as well.
I have stayed at POP 5 times now....4 of those stays in standard rooms, the last stay in a preferred room. Me? I won't be getting another preferred room. My favorite rooms have been standard and I didn't like my preferred room location in bldg 10, ground level.

I'm thinking of staying at Pop Century on my next visit. I've only stayed at Coronado Springs in the past but am trying to save cash and understand Pop is the best of the value resorts to stay at. What is the difference between a standard room and a preferred room and is there any price difference?:confused3

The only difference between standard and preferred rooms is location. Yes, there is a price difference (not sure how much).
