Has anyone been there recently? Do they have somewhere to fish and how much is it? Any ideas on deals on lodging? I'm already checking out vrbo.

not recently but we used to go camping there at the camp ground years ago and enjoyed it. We would go to Dollywood and to the Dixi Stampede (spelling).

We are going in August and staying at the Little Valley Mountain Resort in Sevierville. They have 4 stocked fishing ponds on site and you don't need a TN fishing license. They also supply all the equipment! :thumbsup2

Don't know anything about the fishing in PF, but I do know you will have a great time there. Next April, will be out 3rd trip to the area. We absolutely love the place, the people, just EVERYTHING!!!! We always stay at the Red Roof Inn, on the parkway, I've booked for next April and its $89 a night. That includes breakfast and they have an indoor heated pool. You can't beat that. If you have any questions, feel free to post.

Were just there over Memorial Day in late May. Couldn't even tell you about fishing- we're not that outdoors-y... However, we stayed at Music Road Hotel in Pigeon Forge and loved it! We chose this one because we have a DD4, and we were originally suppoed to go to the beach that weekend, but the weather did not permit it, so we made a last-minute trip to Pigeon Forge. This hotel was great- it offered a pool w/ slide, lazy river with water tubes, indoor pool, and jacuzzi. With AAA discount, it was very reasonable compared to the other hotels we found that offered a water feature of some kind.

We were thinking about doing Dixie Stampede, but from the last time we were there in September 2006, the price has gotten ridiculous, in our opinion... The major things we did were visiting Ripley's Aquarium and walking 'the strip' as we call it. We went into the candy stores to see the wonderful things they make, and there are 2 taffy stores that make the taffy in front of you and will even give you a piece hot off the press! DD4 was very impressed with this! Beyond this, we just relaxed- drove to the top of the mountain and walked towards (did NOT finish the trip...) Clingman's Dome, hung out at the pool, and saw the local sites. We had a great time and DD4 is already asking when we can go back... Enjoy!

We go almost every year and love it. Almost always do a cabin rental and have rarely been dissipointed. Last couple of years we have used Cove Mountain. Watch out for hidden fees with cabin rentals. Cleaning fees and some want the entire rental cost up front.
