People like to burst my bubble.....

There were times I was begging my kiddo to go to the kids' club so that I could do the adult activities. "They" don't know what they are talking about.

My wife and I have done DCL once without kids, just us, then another time without kids and with two other couples. We loved it both times. She has also enjoyed the five times that she has gone on a DCL cruise without me or the kids, traveling instead with her friends.

We love traveling with our girls, but their presence on the ship is not required for me to have fun.

With that argument I say they don't know what they are talking about. Now if you want to talk pricing....

sadly, we took our children on our last cruise and they kept bugging us even in the adults only area………mind you they are 35 and 40 ;).
i was never sure if the fact that dh and i love dcl so much was 'odd' for us two adults but the 'kids' loved it just as much so it can't be that odd. enjoy your cruise!

I don't know how they can presume to know if you will have fun or not if they have never even been on DCL. And even if they have, you are different people and would not necessarily enjoy the same things.

If you want to party like they do on some other cruise lines and stay up drinking/dancing/etc. until 3 am, then DCL probably wouldn't be the cruise line for you because nighttime entertainment ends earlier than some other lines. But if that doesn't matter to you, DCL is a fabulous cruise line. My husband and I had an awesome time on our first DCL cruise, and it was just the two of us. There are plenty of adult-centered activities and areas. I bet you will have a great time!

Anti-Disney rantings, especially from people that have never BTDT themselves, go in one ear and out the other. One of my favorite cruises (after Alaska) was the 7-night Pixar California Coastal that DH and I did alone. It was my first time really getting to enjoy all the adult offerings on the ships and we had the best time...just two adults :thumbsup2 So much so that we are celebrating our 20th Anniversary on the Wonder this October (just DH and I for our 5-night cruise and then the kids will join us for the 2-night following it).

Bring on the adult pool, tasting classes, adult shows, dance parties and Palo!!!!

All our Disney cruises have been adult-only. Well, we did take the "kids" on a couple, but the youngest was 18 at the time.

As we've tried various other cruiselines, we find that we just like the Disney "product" more. So, DCL will figure prominently in our future cruise plans. Even as we try other lines.

Maybe people are saying you will have MORE fun if your kids are with you on a Disney cruise? I know when we go to Walt Disney World or Disney Land, we have a better time if our kids are with us (we went once without them before they were born). I know last year when we went on our cruise, if we didn't have the kids with us, we wouldn't have had as good of a time. We would have had a good time, but the whole time I know we would have been saying "DD would have loved this", or "I wish DD was here" etc.

The only thing I can think of (as someone that hasn't been on a cruise nevermind a DCL one but have heard similar things about World) is that many couples that vacation without their children are doing it for a large part to have adult only time away from children. If that was one of your big motivations going on a disney cruise would probably be a unwise choice... because there will be large amounts of children there.

If the idea that there is a lot on the cruise for children and thus will be a lot of children at anything not specifically adult only (Just like is true at disney world) is ok with you, then it will probably be fine.

Don't listen to people who haven't cruised with DCL. I've heard the "you don't have kids, why would you possibly want to sail Disney with all those children" more times than you can count.

Here's what I tell them: "There are children onboard a Disney cruise?? Funny I never see them. Disney is so good at entertaining children they must keep them busy all day and night because I see less children on a Disney cruise than other cruise lines. Plus with all those adult only activities they have, I don't have time to look for them."

Disney is versatile -- you can enjoy it as a kid, you can enjoy it as an adult and you can enjoy it as an adult with your kids. Plus there was a tip in a guide to WDW (Birnbaum's Guide for Adults I believe) that I read many years ago -- only "see" the cute children. To this day, I only see the cute ones both in WDW and on DCL.

We are platinum level cruisers on both Disney Cruise line and Royal Caribbean. We have sailed both cruise lines with kids and without. Both are terrific! Disney has lots of extra touches that people traveling without kids can really enjoy. I will admit though, that I sometimes miss the casino (although my wallet doesn't). If someone were to say something to me about taking a DCL without kids, I would probably ask them if they had ever done that. If they had, I would respect their opinion. If they hadn't I would ask them why they thought they were qualified to give advice. However, I don't take it too well when people question or give opinions about my life and the decisions I make, so it doesn't happen very often. Not anymore. :)

DH and I are taking our 10th Disney cruise next month. It's just the two of us. We have never felt overrun with children. It's fun to watch kids interact with the characters, and watch the shows, etc. There are plenty of places to go and things to do that don't allow children. I think it's the best of both worlds.

I might feel differently if we had children and left them home. I can understand thinking that DD would have loved this, etc.

Not sure why so many people that HAVEN'T been on a Disney cruise tell me its more for kids and you will be miserable or they just start talking so convincingly that when just my hubby and I go without our two kids for our first of two cruises we wont have fun. REALLY? Kids will be coming with us on our second but geesh, its starting to make me doubt my decision and actually starting to tick me off LOL. I even got another couple (he and my husband are co-pastors and she and I are good friends because we have so much in common as pastor's wives) to go on the same cruise with us in February :-) Sigh, but these same people said DCL is one of the highest rated cruise lines though so at least thats a bonus:P

See, in red.

I don't mean to be mean but ... they don't know what they are talking about.

Many solos and childfree couples are cruising DCL. We are one of them. DCL really focusses a lot on adults. I was (happily) shocked.

If you spend most of your time at the spa, Palo and Remy, the Quiet Cove and Serenity Bay, you won't even notice the kids. ;)

Interesting tangent: I've seen a thread recently like this about Carnival cruisers. Apparently they get horrified reactions a lot from people who have never actually been on Carnival. (Honestly I've read a lot of reviews of the newer Carnival ships lately and it really doesn't sound bad at all, except it would probably be too loud for me (apparently there is loud music everywhere).)

Plenty of areas on all the DCL vessels where is it Adults only and the CM's do a pretty good job keeping the kids out. I would not believe the kids onboard would be a deal breaker except for a very few adults.
