DH and I have decided to buy a cheap mobile phone each when we come over in sept. We will be using it for about 3 weeks every year. UK mobiles are extremely expensive to use in the states.

Can any one pleae give me the name of a good provider and the rates they charge for local (interstate) and overseas call

    Many thanks

We have Virgin Mobile USA, but I don't know if you can make international calls.

    Here's their web page:

I see your from Merseyside. Are you for Everton or Liverpool? :teeth:

Also check out Tracfone. These can be purchased at local Walmart stores here in the USA. They're cheap and you buy minutes as you need them.

I'm for Liverpool too. We saw them here in the states a few years ago and by far they had the best fans. We also saw Chelsea and Man U. :cool1:

We have Virgin Mobile for our kids and love it. With a pay-as-you-go plan it's easier for us to control how much they use the phone. We've always had excellent coverage and very few dropped calls. Plus, they always have specials thru places like Target, Best Buy, etc. where there are rebates on the phones that make them almost free. Don't know if that will help you in the U.K. -- but it's a good place to start.

We are a Tracfone family and that is all we use! can be purchased for about 30.00 at Walmart. Or you can look online at Tracfone.com
