In the Thread below,a Guest was told by Disney that they could park at POR,go to POR GR and register as a Day Guest and then take the Sassagoula River Cruise to DTD/Disney Springs.

Does this mean the Policy has changed Resort-wide and Guests can now park at the CR,register as a Day Guest and go to MK,Park at Beach Club and go to Epcot, etc.?

Thanks.:)

LOL, maybe all those monorail parking spots will be first come, first serve now.

Just my opinion but if they asked another person they would be told there is a 3 hour parking limit for all guests not staying at that Resort. That doesn't mean they can't take the boat to DTD. It means they can't stay all day. We all know Disney GS gives a different answer every time you ask

Heck, at CR we have been turned away and sent to TTC even for a dinning reservation. There was a large convention and absolutely no non-guests could park at the CR

I was just thinking the same thing. I imagine when they register as a "day guest" they will be given a paper to place on their dash specifying a 3 hour parking permit.

Great point, but the thing that got my attention is I have never seen the "Register as a Day Guest" instruction-that sounds like something new as opposed to the traditional "3 hour Parking Lot pass".

"Day Guests" seems to indicate something beyond 3 hours.

It just sounds to me like an internal term they use to describe someone wanting to shop or eat at a particular resort. I'd lay money it would be a 3 hour pass.

But they were told to take the Sassagoula River Cruise-GR is going to expect them to go down the Sassagoula, shop, dine, etc. at DTD,come back up the Sassagoula and be leaving the POR Parking Lot in THREE hours!?

How many times has someone actually emailed Disney and asked that question, and then posted the answer? Very few I'm guessing. Besides, the people you need to allow you in and offer the pass are those at the security gates, not inside at Guest Services

More than likely the person answering has no clue how long that takes. Probably never been there. Much like the people that man the phones. They are not based in Orlando and can only give responses found in their Phone Support Software System and that isn't telling them how long it takes to do something.

I think you could definitely be right-it sounded like bad info to me when i read it.:)

It's also a fact that parking at moderate/value resorts is much less restrictive than it is at the deluxe resorts that have easy access to theme parks.

So Parking at POR and spending the day at DTD is OK now?:)

No, it doesn't mean the policy has changed. It doesn't mean anything really. It's one email from a company with employees known for passing on incorrect information.

So the traditional 3 hour Parking Pass is still in effect at POR?:)

Disney probably doesn't want people doing this to go to the parks. There really isn't any point or benefit in doing this to go to DTD since parking there is free anyway. So I imagine this is why they suggested it. If this starts to be abused and people are constantly doing it to go to the parks then I suspect they will not allow it. Which is probably why it is not advertised.

The issue here is you are asking about something that is a policy but is enforced inconsistently. It's one of those things they often turn the blind eye to, unless the resorts are REALLY crowded and then they clamp down. I don't know that you'll find a concrete answer that applies every day to every guest.

There are 2 sided here: What should be happening and what is happening.

1. What is happening is that there are folks that decide I am gonna park at monorail resort and leave my car there all day while I go to the MK or Epcot. If the resort is not crowded Security is not enforcing the parking issue because could you imagine if WDW towed the wrong car? Even if that was the penalty and that leads to another question what should the penalty be? a tow? a fine? revocation of resort parking? IDK the answer

2. What should be happening is the resorts that are more popular for those mis using the parking system there should be a separate section of the lot for resort day guests with a whatever time limit. It should be gated and guarded. If the stay is longer than the posted allotted time whatever that is then in order to leave the gated lot you will need to pay the daily parking rate.

Just my 2 cents

Is there some specific reason you need to know this and are concerned about it? Just trying to figure out what you are trying to get at here so people could provide you recommendations. Is it about the Contemporary, POR, Downtown Disney?

I haven't seen a three hour parking pass in many years. I'm not even sure they still exist. Disney wants people to go to the resorts, look around, eat, spend money there. Do they want you parking there all day and heading to a park? Who knows. Going to DTD? It would actually be easier to park at SSR. POR has a ton of parking. My DS has visited me there, and left the car while we boated to DTD for dinner. No issues.

Here's my issue. I own DVC at both BWV and BLT. I have watched cars drive into the BLT lot, park, and the people get out and walk to MK. I've watched empty front row spaces at BW fill up at dinner time.....then empty out about 15 mins after IllumiNations ends. It would be nice if Disney had resort parking lots that are keyed entry. With a particular area for 'day guests'....if they stay longer than a set time, they have to pay for that parking.

I just don't think the resorts that don't have immediate park access have a parking problem. Most of the moderate and value resorts have plenty of available parking.....especially if non-resort people take spaces that aren't up front. Those spots should be left for those paying to stay at the resort....just common courtesy.

Just a thought, but the difference is probably that DTD has free parking. You would still be told it is 3 hours at Poly, Contemporary or GF because MK parking isn't free.
