Subsciribing! Are you kidding me? Alphabatized? Alphabatized!!! You guys are amazing. In all the years I've been travelling it has never even occured to me to put my packing lists in alphabetical order. I LOVE it. Less than a month away & no packing lists in site so I am thrilled with this thread.

My original checklist was lumped by category. I saw another list posted in alphabetical order and thought it might be easier to manage and not duplicate items, so I changed it (gotta love cut/paste!).

There are some great lists over here...the alpha list is different...I just don't pack that way...I pack EVERYTHING into a bag of some sort. I use a lot of Ziploc bags. I like the thought of security opening my bag to find a bag full of see through plastic bags! I know you may randomly have to look at my bag, but Please don't touch my stuff!!!:scared: I sort my packing list accordingly, because I have an electronics bag, toiletry bags, food bags, etc. DS has one outfit in a gallon sized Ziploc bag...shorts, shirt, socks, underwear. No decisions, grab a bag and go!:thumbsup2

Enjoy!:goodvibes

Wait, you bring 4 laundry hampers and 21 ponchos? Really? What do you do with all of them? And why should pennies be earlier than 1982? I have a mini M&M case ready to go & the pennies aren't pre 1982. Oh my goodness you are making me nervous. Ack!

Some people like to use pre-1982 pennies because of the lack of zinc content. Apparently they don't "smear" when pressed. Don't know from experience, just have read that on the boards :)

3 people for 7 days means 21 ponchos! :lmao: I don't mess with trying to reuse the ponchos. Generally, the Florida rain in summer is an afternoon deal, and doesn't revisit once it passes. So, we use the cheap throw away when you are done with it variety. They actually say reusable, and I did keep them around and reuse one day on our Spring Break trip but tossed them at the end of the day...the cost $0.67 each at my local sporting goods store. I think it's worth it for convenience and small size (they pack in my waist pack very well:thumbsup2). I just save the receipt and any that we don't use on the trip can be returned (unless of course I have another trip planned, and then I just keep them.;) ).

I have 2 pop up hampers which we can use as a family in the room. One for lights and one for darks. Since they are pop up, I am not sure how they will pack with clothes in them. I had thought I would transfer the clothes to the regular bags for packing. But, I am actually hopeful that they will pack okay, and at the end of the trip, I will separate out the light cold wash from the light warm wash, and the dark cold wash from the dark warm wash.:thumbsup2 This will help redistribute the clothes into the suitcases as well. I hate to think on the end of the trip, but I have one day in between the trip and DS starting school, and we are probably taking most of his clothes with us on this trip, so I have to do laundry the day after we get back.:guilty: I need to make this as easy on myself as possible. Presorted laundry will help me. Also, it wasn't a huge investment to get these, $1 in that section in Target:thumbsup2, I got them 2 days ago!

That's right with the pennies. Newer pennies have zinc in the middle and when you flatten them, the gray will sometimes show. If you want to be sure that you have a nice all copper colored penny pressing, then you need to have older pennies, pre-1982 to be exact.:thumbsup2

DH was sitting here with me reading and he said he had to put in his 2 cents.. He laughs because I take an extra *empty* large suitcase with us.. it holds all my shopping. lol

Has anyone ever been there at Christmas time? I dont know whether to pack a couple of pair of shorts for everyone or just jeans

Yes! I know people who pack the smaller suitcase that fits into a larger one, and check it like that. An excellent strategy for guaranteed room on the return trip!

If you are going from Ontario to Florida, you will probably enjoy having a couple pairs of shorts. I haven't experienced the Florida "snow birds" but I have in Arizona, where my parents live. People who can afford a second home in someway shape or form, will go south for the winter and then return north for the summer. You can always tell the snow birds from the natives because the natives are cold in the 70 degree weather and the snow birds are wearing shorts and wondering why they can't eat outside on the patio in the restaurants.:confused3 Considering where you are coming from, I think the little room taken by shorts will be worth it even if you don't end up wearing them. But I think you will.

OK, I'm off to find some circa 1980 pennies! AND now I have to go buy 20 more ponchos. I'm normally such a light packer my dh is gonna have a cow! I'll just remind him ME will be lugging it around once we get to MCO.

I found the coolest bag at Target. It is a purple bag that snaps into a clear bag. So on the way it will be my carry-on inside the purple. Then the clear one I will take to the parks (I have a baby & thus a stroller so I don't need a tiny bag) so I can go through security quickly. Then on the way home I'll have a whole extra bag. Yippee!

jmsadams in another thread we were talking about the weather in the winter. We like to stay on the Gulf Coast in January and have usually had nice weather. The one morning the gentleman cleaning the pool had on a hat, coat, and gloves while cleaning the pool. My husband went down in shorts and asked if the pool would be good for 11ish to swim. He looked at my husband shook his head and said you have to be from Canada lol.
