Our Not So Scary, Very Merry, Honeymoon - An Oct/Nov 2012 PTR

I like the idea to make a list of things you want to eat again and things you want to try for the first time! I will have to remember that! We love the Carrot Cake Cookie, and a Dole Whip can always be eaten, no matter how full you are! =)

I totally agree :thumbsup2

I hope you guys had a good Canada Day too!!

Love the food list, great idea. Might have to borrow that one!

Borrow away! :goodvibes

And thanks! We spent a lot of it outside in the beautiful weather :beach:

Day 5! Friday November 2

DSCF2327.jpg

So, today, much like the previous days I just posted, wake-up time will be 6:30, with breakfast at 7, and us leaving for the park at 7:45.

We may encounter this at our bus stop:

Or, we might see something like this:

And then we'll be on our way!

Our destination for the day...

DSCN2302_filtered.jpg

Since this would be our second time here this trip, it's hard to say what we'll end up doing, but whatever it is, I'm sure it will be awesome. How can it not be? It's the Animal Kingdom! :cool1:

So, around 12:15 I'm going to tell my fiance that we need to head up to the front of the park for a lunch reservation at the RFC to check in for 12:45. In reality, we will be heading up by the turnstiles to check-in for our, just booked today :dance3:, Backstage Safari Tour! :banana:

I'd put some pictures of that here, but since you're not allowed to take pictures on the tour, I can't find any aside from what's on the Disney World website. I'm really hoping it's a good tour, and that she will be surprised and happy about it. I've been able to keep it a secret so far, so hopefully it will stay that way. She does know that I'm planning something but has no clue what it is.

So, our tour should get over around 3pm, which will give us a little bit more park time, granted not much, before our next reservation at 4:45 at...

The Yak'n'Yetti! I'm actually really exited to eat here again! Well, just to eat here really, :laughing: Last time I ate there, but I didn't really eat :sad1: I'm also excited for this ADR because when we're done the park will be closed which will make for some neat photos, if we can snap a quick few on our way out.

So I figure we'll probably leave AK around 6 pm. What do I have planned for the evening/night, you might ask? Well...NOTHING! That's right, absolutely nothing. We can go back to the hotel and explore it, or head to DTD if we feel like it, anything is fair game. Until this point we will have been having a lot of early days and late nights, so it might be nice to have an early night. We'll see what happens though.

I can't believe our first 5 days are already planned out! Well, not just the first 5...I've got most of the other days planned out too, but I'm just not posting them all at once...where would the fun in that be? Anyway, I hope everyone had a good week, and has some fun plans for the weekend! I'll leave you with this photo of the week! (finally, I know)

I can't wait to hear about that tour. One of these days i will be takingtours....It just hasn't worked out yet. Not enough time and money usually.

i think that an evening of nothing will be great. by day 5 i'm usually more than ready for a few hours off.

i need to post some more days on my ptr. i'm only on like 2.

I think you will end up having an early evening in the hotel room after all those late nights and early morning! I think she will be pleasantlysurprised by the tour. I am sad that you can't take pictures on the tour, though. You will have to take detailed notes for us!

Normally I'm of the same mind...too much money and takes away precious ride time :laughing: but this time I don't mind spending a little extra since it's special occasion and all...plus we'll have plenty of time so I won't be worried about missing out on stuff because of the tour.

Yeah, I think the we might need the night off after those 5 days. Can't wait to hear more plans! popcorn::

It does suck that we can't take pictures, but I totally understand why we can't. I'll do my very best to take notes, and remember to bring my notebook to the park that day :thumbsup2

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Disney Magic is in port today, and I don't have to work until 2, so I'm going to go downtown and check it out! :thumbsup2 I'm actually kind of excited! :hyper: I'll probably regret this decision later on today (when it's 8pm and I'm falling asleep at work), but hopefully it will be worth it. The worst thing is that I've been up since 6 :scared: because that's when my fiance had to get up today...I have a feeling I might need some :coffee: later on. I'll try and get a few pictures and post them here if I can, but I'll only have my iPhone, and there will be at least one other ship in.
Hey there! Just subbing. I followed you over from the FB group, but I need to go back and get caught up on your trip plans!
....and caught up!
First off, the dresses are lovely. :goodvibes I actually decided on mine about 11 months before my wedding, and it STILL didn't arrive until 4 weeks before. I think they do it on purpose so you can't get the dress in and change your mind.:lmao:
As for your snacks, might I add a suggestion of the Sweet Almond Pretzel in Norway, if you haven't tried it? Super yummy and we think better than School Bread!
Of course, I am a huge fan of the Jalapeno Pretzel in AK (and, they say, American Adventure in Epcot but I think that's a myth as they are always "out" when we go!) and the Margaritas are much cheaper at Cava if you go on a Monday (10 dollar special...... I swear I know this for research purposes only!::yes::)
Looking forward to reading more!
Just dropping by to do the double digit dance with you!
:cool1::banana::dancer:party:
How are the wedding plans coming?
Yay double digits! :banana: The wedding plans have kind of stalled :laughing: but only because we're focused on getting the invites out...which we really should be trying to do more than we are :rolleyes1
:welcome: and thanks for joining in!!!
I just might give those pretzels a try, if we can fit them in our rigorous snacking schedule :laughing: We'll probably end up splitting most things though, so we shouldn't have a problem there :thumbsup2
Thanks about the dresses :goodvibes Now is the point where I'm starting to freak out ever so slightly that I don't have my dress yet, and I don't have the fitting booked either :scared: I'm not sure if I should book a fitting and hope that the dress is here for it, or if I should wait until I have it and then get it fitted...it's all so overwhelming sometimes! :confused:
Also, that's an awesome tip about Cava! :thumbsup2 I will definitely be sure to take advantage of that...it makes me wonder if we can squeeze very short trip in on our arrival day :laughing: :scratchin :rolleyes1
Hello everyone! :wave2:
I'm sorry for the lack of updates, but we've had a busy weekend! The Tall Ships festival was happening in Halifax this past weekend. This is when tall ships from all over the place come in and give tours of the ships, and the city adds some special events in the downtown core as well, to help make things interesting. This year there is also a big push from the government to celebrate the anniversary of the War of 1812, so they sort of lumped these two events together, which made for a really busy weekend for us! Not to mention this past weekend was the kick-off for Pride Week in our city. :rainbow: Here's how our weekend went:
On Saturday we went to my fiance's cousin's house because she had some family coming in from PEI and Ottawa that I had never met before. We went over and chatted, had a few drinks, and had some BBQ foods. It was a lot of fun! And it was really nice to meet them all because they're invited to the wedding, so now I at least know who they are!
After we left the family BBQ, my fiance and I went down to the waterfront to look at some of the tall ships. I can say with certainty that the waterfront was every bit as packed as it is in the MK on a busy day :laughing: It was awesome to see so many people! We also stumbled upon a food event which neither of us hadn't heard about, so that was fun too! At this point it was too late to tour the ships, so we decided we'd go back on Sunday to do that.
On our way back to catch a bus home, we found tents where the symphony was playing, so we stopped and watched a bit of that from behind the little gates. It was really awesome that they had this going on too! The last piece they played Overture 1812, and actually had cannons go off in the finale of the piece, and timed it with the fireworks that were happening for the Tall Ships. It was really neat!
Needless to say, we were really tired when we got home, and pretty much went right to bed.
On Sunday, we got up a bit earlier than we would have liked, but we had plans!
We got breakfast from the most amazing little cafe on the waterfront, called the Two If By Sea cafe. They have really good coffee beverages, and baked goods. I had a giant muffin and an iced chai late, while my fiance had a chocolate croisant (as big as your head!) and a chai late. With our bellies full, we got our Tall Ships bracelets and started touring the ships.
They were all really cool! There were about 13-14 ships in, and we toured about 10, before we had to leave. Of those 10, we actually got to go down in where the crew lives and works in about 3 of them. It was well worth the $5 it took to get the bracelet.
Once we left the waterfront, we made our way up to meet my (future) mother-in-law and then head to watch the 7th or 8th annual baseball game for Pride. It's always a fun time, as they have a team of drag queens playing against a team of lesbians. We met up with my brother and a few of his friends at the game, as well as my parents, who showed up kind of late. After the game, we went with my parents back down to the tall ships for more photos and while there we bumped into my cousins, who my fiance had never met. After having chatted to them for a while, we made our way over to the casino for dinner. My mom and brother had some vouchers so they ended up gambling a little bit. Once done there, my brother and his friends split up from the rest of us, and we ended up getting ice cream at Cold Stone before making our way home.
It really was a busy weekend! In fact, this is the first time I've been on the computer since Thursday! :scared1:
This week is also shaping up to be a busy one with all the events for Pride that we plan on taking in. The next one being on Thursday night. It's a sunset wine and cheese harbour cruise on the Silva, which is a tall ship that does multiple harbour tours daily. There is a reception before the cruise itself, and then the cruise. We probably won't get home until late. Then on Saturday is the big parade and festival. It's always a good time, but this is the first year in about 5 that I haven't had to work and watch it from work, so that will be nice.
ANYWAY! I really should be getting ready for work now and not on the DIS, but I can't help it! I'm sorry if I've bored you to tears with this non-Disney no photo update, but at least it explains my absence from the DIS. I hope you're all having a good week! :goodvibes
Happy almost weekend everyone!!! :cheer2:
I hope your respective weeks have all been going well...mine's been busy but awesome :thumbsup2
So a while back I posted about potentially doing some kind of a dinner show, and asked for opinions. While I think it could be fun to do one, I think we're going to pass on that this trip. I just can't decide which would be best for us, plus I feel like there are other dining options that might be better suited to us. I also feel like next time we end up back in WDW we will be there with my little brother and sister in law, and that would be the perfect time for a dinner show (they are currently 6 and 4). My step-mother in law wants to take them when her DD is about 8 years old, so about 2 years or so.
I also have to add...I've only got 93 more days left!!! :dance3: :cool1: That means...
Day 6! Saturday November 3
I currently have us with an early start, and I think that's because we plan on taking in the morning EMH at...
Hollywood Studios!
All I really want to do during this "bonus hour" is ride TSM and ST. We'll likely end up wondering around, shopping, maybe grabbing a snack or two somewhere, before heading out and hopping on one of these...
not my photo, though I know I have one, I just can't find it
and making our way over to Epcot for the rest of the day! :banana: I'm hoping to get to Epcot around noon-ish.
This day at Epcot is reserved for...
I know there are special events going on for the Food and Wine festival, but not a whole lot of info has been released yet as to when things are happening, and how much they cost. Even if we aren't able to do any of the special seminars and such, we'll at least enjoy the booths and exploring World Showcase, and maybe we'll even stop by briefly to see Howard Jones Live, despite that I don't think I know any of his songs.
So, after a fun-filled day exploring Epcot, we will head for dinner at...
Teppan Edo! Our ADR is for 7:30, so hopefully we'll be getting finished just in time for Illuminations.
DSCF2156-1.jpg
Not the best picture, but it sill looks kinda cool.
And that will be our Day 6!
I can't believe at this point in the vacation we will still have 7 whole days more! At this point we'd only have about 2 full days left or so..I feel so lucky to be able to go for so long this time. :goodvibes
Wow, a busy weekend yes, but sounds like a lot of fun! We had the tall ships in Sydney a few years ago. Of course Sydney doesn't do near as much as Halifax, but it was still really cool to see the ships.
I also feel like next time we end up back in WDW we will be there with my little brother and sister in law, and that would be the perfect time for a dinner show (they are currently 6 and 4).
Ok so, I was reading this and I read it as; "My little brother, and my sister in law" as in, my own brother and his wife. Then I read the ages and hoped like heck I had made a mistake. :rotfl2: (Yes, I've got it now!!)
I can't believe what a great time you guys are going! MNSSHP, MVMCP, Food & Wine... wow.
Love the DHS hour then Epcot day plans!
Good plans! If you get bored that day, come on ove to AKL, where DD and I will be hanging out till it's time to head over to meet up with our family for the cruise portion of our trip. :banana:
