Hello everyone and welcome to our Pre Trip Report.
As you may have guessed from the title, our trip this time is extra magical as its our Honeymoon
We get married on 30th May and are having our Disneymoon in September.
I'm doing this PTR a little different this time as I will keep updating it the closer we get to the trip but for now, lets start with the basics...
The Cast:
Me - I'm Kat, I'm 28 and this will be my third trip to Disney World. My first trip was in 2000 with my parents (total wuss back then so didn't really go on anything!), my next trip was in 2012 with Karl (who'll you will meet in a minute) which was AMAZING! My favorite parks are Epcot and Hollywood Studios and my favorite rides are...well...to be honest, I can't actually pick, there's toooo many! I work for a famous Travel Agent so I get to help other people book holidays to Disney, which is so magical!
I will be planner extraordinaire for this trip and on this trip...I will also be a wife...
Karl - He is 28 (29 when we go) and he is my wonderful Fiancé (of course, he will be my husband on our trip) His first trip was with me in 2012. He didn't really know what to expect but he absolutely LOVED it! His favorite parks are also Hollywood Studios and Epcot and his favorite rides are Spaceship Earth (as this is the first ride he ever went on in Disney) and he LOVES the 3 Caballeros ride in Mexico.
He is our designated driver again and is looking forward to making me ride the orange side of Mission Space this time! (Yeah, thanks babe!)
The background:
As mentioned above, we originally went to Disney World together in 2012 (here is my original trip report if you fancy a read: The 'this-was-supposed-to-be-a-holiday-to-Mexico' trip report).
We had such a great time that some time back in mid 2014, we joked about going back to Disney World for our honeymoon. Once the idea had been planted in both our heads, we then kept seeing adverts for it on TV what felt like ALL the time...someone was obviously trying to tell us something. After discussing it in some detail we decided we WOULD do it and make it a really special honeymoon trip ...
The plan:
When we went back in 2012, all we planned was what parks we would visit on what day and it totally worked for us so we are going with this plan again. We are going roughly around the same time as our last trip too as the crowd levels were low and the weather was great (even though we did have some great thunderstorms some nights.
Some important information for this trip:
1) Although we get married in May, we don't actually fly out until September. We are flying from Manchester (as they have stopped flying from Bristol now) on Saturday 26th September staying for 2 weeks and flying back on 10th October.
2) We are staying at the 'Swan' side of the Swan and Dolphin. We stayed on I Drive last time so it's a nice change to be closer to the parks and get some of the treats that Disney guests get too such as EMH. Staying here also means we are close to our two favorite parks...bonus!
** Update (number 1) **
I've now managed to plan our itinerary for parks. As I've mentioned in my previous trip report, we only plan the parks that we're going to so this is the plan...
Itinerary
26/09 - Arrival date
27/09 - Magic Kingdom
28/09 - Epcot (possibly Illuminations)
29/09 - Universal Studios
30/09 - Hollywood Studios
01/10 - Rest day
02/10 - Islands of Adventure
03/10 - Animal Kingdom
04/10 - Rest day
05/10 - Epcot (possibly Illuminations)
06/10 - Magic Kingdom
07/10 - Hollywood Studios
08/10 - Rest day
09/10 - Universal Studios
10/10 - Departure date (boooo!)
This is our very basic plan. We are staying at The Swan so we're close to Epcot and Hollywood Studios which means on some of the rest days we may go to these parks in the evening. Also, due to Epcot being our favorite park, us being so close to it and the Food & Wine Festival being on, we may spend more evenings here also.
We aren't worried about seeing any of the shows this time such as Main Street Electrical Parade or Fantasmic but we both enjoy Illuminations so this will be the only one we see.
Also, we haven't decided about Sea World yet. Last time we went we didn't plan it either and just decided on one of our rest days to go so this could be what we do here also.
** Update (number 2)**
We have a brilliant update for you. My parents called us the other day to tell us something very special. My Dad came on the phone and the conversation went something like this...
Dad: "Hello, only me. We wanted to ask you something. You know for your honeymoon, well, we want to do something special for you. We are going to pay for you and Karl to... *silence*
Me: "Dad, helloooo. DAD"
*phone rustles and my Step Mum comes on*
S.M: "Hello. Your Dad was trying to tell you that, as a gift from us for you honeymoon, we want to pay for you and Karl to go to Discovery Cove and do the dolphin swim".
Me: "What?! Oh my, wow, *sobbing* I've always wanted to swim with dolphins. *sobbing*
We are sooooo happy! It is literally a dream of mine to do this and I can't believe they're paying for us to go there and do it! I later found out the reason my Dad went silent and passed the phone to my Step Mum was because he was crying too as he knows how much it all means to me .
I think we will work this in as a rest day as I can't see it being too manic for us so we can still relax and take it easy.
*** Update (number 3) ***
Hey everyone. So the most recent update for you all is that we got married, yay! We're so happy and even though it was at the end of May, it still only feels like yesterday and we are still on cloud 9! I married my best friend and I couldn't be happier.
*** Update (number 4) The final update ***
Hello everyone! So this is it! This time next week we will have arrived in Florida. All the final plans have been made, we've even just purchased Halloween Horror Night tickets for Universal Studios, I'm packing the suitcases and my Disney nails have been done...(I'm saving the picture for my trip report!). Can't believe it's so very nearly here; our Disneymoon!
So there we have it for now folks. Thank you for reading my PTR and I hope you've enjoyed reading it and enjoyed getting to know a little about us. See you all real soon for my actual TR.
So for now, this isn't goodbye, it's see you later...
