Oh It's A Jolly Holiday With Katie! - Beach Club / Grand Floridian

"I resent this photo-bombing trash-can getting in my shot. Am I the only one who can make out a stupid face that it’s pulling just to mock me..?!"

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Awesome TR so far. I'm so glad someone else asked about the digestives, because I was like that's a snack?! What is that?!

I pretty much love the BC. I hope you guys had a chance to use the pool. Our favorite was night swimming. First because night swimming is awesome, and second because the pool area is mostly empty.

That is an awesome view of Illuminations! When we stayed there for a few nights last May, we didn't have a full balcony but we had a view of the Boardwalk, so we got to see Star Wars Weekends fireworks! Which was sweet.

If I was unsure of this TR earlier, I decided that I'm definitely in as soon as I read that you had PB&J sandwiches for breakfast :thumbsup2

I'm oddly excited that Jamie had to stop for the bathroom on that first MK day, the bathroom is frequently my first ride of the day. What can I say, I get excited too and lose bladder control apparently.

OMG, I also thought the lyrics to Splash included 'show me your bone'.

Hmm, I wonder if they copied the MK riverboat for the Princess and the Frog movie...or maybe that is just how all riverboats look, I'm not sure.

I enjoy the fact that your story about the child wanting to be at MK and waking up there involves him bringing his stroller along :rotfl2: It makes sense though.

I don't think Disney included Rapunzel's paint supplies in the bathrooms for people Not to take pictures of them, just sayin.

I met Gaston a few trips ago with my friend and he spent the whole time with me staring at a reflection of himself in my sunglasses which were on my head. What a guy.

I agree that the trashcan was pulling a face. Smarmy little jerk.

That 7DMT picture has a weird effect. If you scroll down a bit quick it looks like your moving on the ride. Kind of.

Aww, Eeyore got his own seat at BOG.

Those pics of the Festival of Fantasy parade were incredible!

Sorry I had so many comments, I was commenting as I read. Can't wait to hear more!

Okay, I totally just sang the intro to your update. :rotfl2:

Nope, that trash can totally looks like it's mocking you.

Apparently at the age of four, I came out of the Haunted Mansion completely obsessed with it. And it remains today.

Oh yeah, I could totally see the trauma from Jaws though. That one freaked me out too!

Mmmm, the Master's cupcake is so yummy! For me it's really the grey stuff on top that makes it.

It stinks when you get a poopy group on Jungle Cruise! Like come on guys laugh. It's PUNNY! :rotfl: Yup. I totally just did that.

I love ducks too, so by extension I hate that bird as well.

We haven't seen FoF yet, so I'm looking forward to it.

Perfect use of the Pitch Perfect gif. Fat Amy is the best.

I'm loving your report - just have to add that being Australian I've made the mistake of reading an American menu and thinking chips meant hot chips like we would expect and instead getting packet potato chips! And I wasn't even jetlagged :)

What a lovely day at MK!

I hadn't seen Tangled the last time I went to WDW - now I worry that I'll burst into singing I See the Light when I visit that bathroom... :lmao:

What a GREAT view of the parade! I may have to catch the afternoon parade next time - usually I'm on an attaction or back at the resort come 3:00!

That parade looks so awesome. I still can't believe we missed it. It was in our plans, but for some reason, we were always somewhere else at parade time. Next year for sure!

YOu don't like Brave? I love that story. But hey, to each their own! :)

Glad you had fun swimming, but sorry you got belted with a ping pong ball. Those things can sting!

HI EVERYONE! :wave2:

Sorry for the disappearance. Life got a little busy this past month, but I'm back and excited to continue my trip report journey with you lovely people!

Ok, so your trip report is combining 2 of the things I love most in life:
1. British people (I mean that, I really love ya'll! I'm from Texas, we have such boring accents)
2. Disneyworld
Which basically means this TR is perfection! I was laughing the whole way through, you have such a funny way of describing people/situations. And your pictures are the best!

I'm gushing so I'll stop but I can't wait to read more!

Hey! What a lovely message to come back to! I'm so glad you're enjoying it :goodvibes
I love that you like the British accent.. because I LOVE American accents!! We should be friends :rotfl:
Thanks for reading, there's more to come soon!

Lol! You're cracking me up! I warned you that they could make you cry. She is amazing at making those videos and her photos are fantastic!

A sequel to pitch perfect? I'm all over that--loved that movie!

Yesss I loved them! I love watching Disney videos on youtube, but that is definitely one of my new favourites!

I hope I didn't come off forcing you to do multi quotes :goodvibes :lmao:

Yay what fun updates!

Oh my gosh, you're so right, everyone has attitudes in the mosaic. At least their leaving their 'tudes at the door of the castle insead of inside ::yes::

I remember as a child I was afraid of BTMRR. In fact, my first ride was caught on camera by my dad, and you can hear the fear in my voice when I scream at him to, 'HOLD ME!!"

You two have the cutest scared faces i've ever seen. BTW, Jamie kind of looks like an older, glass-less Harry Potter to me :thumbsup2

May I ask, what type of camera are you using for your videos?

We've been to BOG one time for lunch and will be going again for Dinner in January! Super excited. We ate in the West Wing and it's so ridiculously dark. The ballroom is where we are hoping to eat at next time. But the ambiance of the West Wing is really cool.

Woah, I hadn't heard about that incident over at PotC? I can't believe he lost his fingers :scared1:

Okay, where I have been that i've never heard of Scoop Sanderson before?! Dang it, not a good DIS'er at all.

You got the BEST view of the parade, holy moly! It's like they held this parade just for you guys! Ahhhmazing.:cloud9:

Best 2 sec vid i've seen :lmao:

I too, wish people would bring their Disney Friendly-ness back home. Would make the world a happier place!

:rotfl:I've been shot..by a flying burrito!

No no not at all, I'm so glad you taught me how to do it! THANKS!

I'm not surprised you were scared of BTMRR, when you're a child those single lap bars seem SO DANGEROUS! I remember as a kid feeling like I could slip right out of the train!

Oh my gosh, a glass-less Harry Potter, that cracked me up!!! He actually DOES wear glasses!!! I wish he was just as magical, and could 'wingardium leviosa' me back to Florida....!!! pixiedust:

The camera I used for all the photos and videos was a Sony DSC-HX20V, it's a great little camera for someone who knows nothing about photography! I didn't plan on including any videos in my TR, which is why they aren't very good!

Ahh you'll be at WDW so soon!!! That view of the parade is so good! You should definitely try to get a spot up there :thumbsup2

"I resent this photo-bombing trash-can getting in my shot. Am I the only one who can make out a stupid face that it’s pulling just to mock me..?!"

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

RIGHT!?! It would be such a lovely picture of the castle without that guy

Awesome TR so far. I'm so glad someone else asked about the digestives, because I was like that's a snack?! What is that?!

Sorry I had so many comments, I was commenting as I read. Can't wait to hear more!

HEY! Please don't apologise, I LOVE comments! Give as many as you like :goodvibes

Digestives are amaaaazing, particularly chocolate digestives! Remember this if you come to the UK!

We loved the Beach Club too!! We felt so at home there :goodvibes Of course we got to go swimming!! But not at night. I agree though, night swimming is awesome. And the view of illuminations was great, my terrible photography did not do it justice!!! Fireworks over the boardwalk sounds amazing too!! I haven't been to Star Wars weekend since 2001 and I'd love to do it again, but I bet it gets so busy once the new film comes out!

*High five* for PB&J sandwiches! I actually visited WDW for the first time when I was 4 years old, which is where my PB&J obsession started! It's not very common in the UK so people tend to think I'm kind of weird :rotfl: But yes, what a great way to start your day!

Haha, I love how you describe the Adventureland bathroom as your first ride of the day :rotfl: my bathroom of choice appeared to be the one on your right as you walk down Sunset Boulevard towards ToT.. for some reason I had to stop there EVERY TIME we walked past. The combination of drinking buckets of water to stay hydrated in Florida, plus the sheer excitement of being at WDW = a lot of bathroom breaks!!!!

Aw I'm glad you got to meet Gaston! I will recommend him to anyone going to WDW, he was by far my favourite meet! That's hilarious that he used your sunglasses as a mirror, I would expect nothing less! And I would also recommend that spot for FoF! You're right, it was so good! Particularly because the floats are so high :goodvibes

Absolutely loving your TR so far! Can't wait to read more!

Hey, thanks so much!! That means a lot :goodvibes I've been pretty busy for the past month, but there's more to come very soon!

Okay, I totally just sang the intro to your update. :rotfl2:

Perfect use of the Pitch Perfect gif. Fat Amy is the best.

Aw I'm glad you love the Haunted Mansion! When I realised how much of a huge following it had, I thought there was no way it could be as bad as I was remembering it! And I was right, how funny that I was 17 years old at Disneyland Paris and still wouldn't ride it :rotfl: I sound so pathetic :worried:

Yes the grey stuff really is delicious! (no need to ask the dishes..) I'm really glad they added that cupcake to the menu :goodvibes

Haha YES!! The Jungle Cruise is soooo PUNNY! I love that :rotfl: I feel sorry for the poor skipper when nobody is laughing, it must feel kind of awkward :confused3 at least Jamie and I showed our appreciation :thumbsup2

Ahh I love Pitch Perfect! It's tooo funny. I hope you're ready for the sequel.. Pitch Perfect 2 is coming out next year!!:cool1:

I'm loving your report - just have to add that being Australian I've made the mistake of reading an American menu and thinking chips meant hot chips like we would expect and instead getting packet potato chips! And I wasn't even jetlagged :)

Hey thank you!! Aww no! There's nothing worse than having a craving for [hot] chips/fries in America and seeing a plate of crisps/potato chips being handed to you :rotfl: We need UK/Australia friendly menus :goodvibes

totally late but totally joining :) love it so far!

Aw thank you so much ! And :welcome: More to come soon!

Hahah yes, it's so easy to lose yourself in your surroundings and just start singing in the middle of WDW! I understand your concern:rotfl: But that's one of the things I love about WDW, I'm sure everyone would just allow it!

And you should definitely catch the parade :goodvibes All of the new costumes and floats are great!

Aw I understand, its impossible to get EVERYTHING done on a WDW trip! We were there for 2 weeks and still didn't get everything done! I definitely recommend the FoF parade for your next trip though! :goodvibes

Hahah RIGHT?! They DO sting!!! And did my loving boyfriend feel sorry for me? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Haha maybe I'll keep practicing and get him back next time :thumbsup2

Just caught up on your trip report and I'm loving it so far!! I'll just list some things that stood out for me.

My sons love "British" because they watch Minecraft videos on Youtube that are narrated by someone from the UK. They love talking about Britain and how they use different words for things over there which they picked up on from the vids. I'm not sure I told them about chips/fries, I have to do that.

I love the soundtrack and the fact that you included what you hear on the disney buses. That really brought me back.

Your gifs are great! I need to figure out how to incorporate good ones into my upcoming trip report. Arrested Development, Rebel Wilson... :rotfl2:

I love how you write about Jamie. I awww'ed when he grabbed your hand on the bus. That's something my Jamie would do. :lovestruc

We will be staying at YC in April so although not the Beach Club your pictures really capture the beauty of the Epcot resort area. I was starting to regret my decision to switch from WL and your photos have eased my mind.

I've been reading a lot of TRs lately and I think you take some of the best pics I've seen of WDW. The FOF parade photographs are amazing. I will definitely try to get the same vantage point you had for the parade on one of our MK days. Maybe we'll luck out like you did.

Really looking forward to reading more about your trip. Thanks for sharing. :)

Day 2
(September 3rd 2014)

This is gonna be the best day of my liiiife!
My li-i-i-i-i-iiiife!
Ooo, oooo, oo, oo ooo.

Part 7 - Bella Notte

At around 8pm we headed out for the absolute EXPEDITION over to Epcot.

I joke, I joke, the walk is probably less than a minute :thumbsup2

19476038272_79c2448a7d_b.jpg

Here's a picture of Jamie outside the Beach Club. He specifically requested a photo with the nice scenery, then forgot to smile. Duhh.

19482374265_d5e8b3d65f_c.jpg

And a here's me!

19294812498_df88898d8d_b.jpg

Apparently my camera flash LOVES my mineral powder make up, and wants to illuminate it as much as possible.
My face was NOT that white in real life!!
As you'll see from the next photo..

We strolled through the International Gateway entrance to Epcot
(both of our first times through IG ever!)
We took a right towards the France pavilion and stopped by the fountain to get a PhotoPass picture.

This is one of my favourite photos of the trip :goodvibes

19294736100_4ebe7ef0c2_b.jpg

Our reservation at Via Napoli was at 8:30pm so we headed to the Italy pavilion.

We were greeted by so many smiling faces! The people working there seemed to really love life :yay:

We were shown to our table and ordered a Moretti for Jamie, and a bottle of water for myself.
And of course, a large pepperoni pizza to share!

I originally took this picture to send to my Dad, but I like Jamie's ridiculous grin in the background to I thought I'd include it.

19482322665_e5a9ed038b_b.jpg

I took this photo because my Dad, Step-Mum, brother and myself travelled to Italy every single year for around 8 years while I was growing up. We've been EVERYWHERE! Multiple times!
I knowww I was such a lucky kid.
And they're still taking their annual trips!
But this water, Acqua Panna, is the authentic water you get all over Italy, so I knew my Pops would enjoy that I was drinking it in Florida!

Via Napoli was really quiet on this night, there really wasn't any need for a reservation.
But the atmosphere was still brilliant!
This was probably all down to the Italian waiters, who are SO entertaining to watch.

There was a group of Italian girls sat at the long table in the centre of the restaurant who the waiters seemed to lurrrrrve.
They would crowd around the table being cheeky, but a supervisor would soon march over and tell them to get back to work.
The waiters would scatter for about 30 seconds until the supervisor left, then head straight back over to the group of giggling girls.
Aaaand, repeat all of this. Several times.
They were really amusing.

Another thing that really cracked us up was that, of the maybe 10 groups in Via Napoli, 6 or 7 were apparently celebrating a birthday (!!!)
I'm fairly certain no proof is needed, and if you just tell them it's your birthday, all of the waiters will bring you a little cake, and sing Happy Birthday in Italian AT THE TOP OF THEIR VOICES, whilst clapping along SUPER enthusiastically.
It was so funny, they were literally at a different table singing and clapping every 5 minutes, and their enthusiasm NEVER dropped!!!

This isn't my video, but it sums up our time at Via Napoli perfectly! Just imagine it 7 times over!

Although it seemed perfectly acceptable for everyone to do this, we decided not to try our luck at getting a free cake.

19486589921_634feb8ac0_o.gif

PIZZA TIME.

This might be the biggest pizza I have ever seen.

AND THEY DO A BIGGER SIZE.

19486707031_25b53b82f0_b.jpg

19296246359_df6ed90ea2_b.jpg

AMAZING!

18861654493_c314c3765d_o.gif

When I took my first bite, I somehow only got cheese, which I couldn't seem to tear apart.
Embarrassing.
So I got a mouthful of cheese, and had to eat the rest of the slice like this.

19475975672_7029628fd2_b.jpg

But after that it was DELICIOUS!!

19294780678_b1643ba12b_b.jpg

19294806780_28f52af6e9_b.jpg

I should also mention that the service at Via Napoli was super speedy!
We were finished and heading out by about 9:05pm.

19296230919_73d7b87cb9_b.jpg

This is Disney's version of the Campanile bell tower in Piazza San Marco (Saint Mark's Square) in Venice. Venice is my absolute favourite part of Italy so I just adore this pavilion!!

To my delight, as we were leaving the restaurant, Illuminations was starting!!
I know, right?
Illuminations, two nights in a row!!!

19456291676_234541a5cf_b.jpg

19296211729_a60d6f4d84_b.jpg

This show never gets old. I could watch it every night.
I even listen to the Illuminations soundtrack while I run at the gym!
(The section in the video below is great for a sprint!)

After the fireworks we started to head back around to International Gateway.

And I had to stop for a photo in an empty Morocco!

19482310535_0568a6b163_b.jpg

As we got to the exit, we remembered that the next pavilion over was the UK! So we decided to check it out while it was quiet.

19486651581_9470d47ca5_b.jpg

This was how Jamie felt about being back in the UK..!

19456257356_ca240a3c48_b.jpg

I'm really eager to buy something from the Twinings tea store next time.

I'm a tea monster.

19296178289_236b006b12_b.jpg

Something we noticed about the UK pavilion was how overpowering the smell of fish and chips was!!!!

19296132269_201dcde618_o.gif

I promise you, this is NOT how the UK really smells!

It was gross.

We ran away.

19476001542_57aea76d52_b.jpg

19294797150_05c50f05c9_b.jpg

We rolled back to the Beach Club and watched some Tennis (the US Open!)

And I was asleep by around 10:45pm.

We had another big day around the corner...

Sorry haters, but IT'S HAPPENING...

UNIVERSAL STUDIOS IN THE MORNING!!!

:woohoo:

Sweet Dee!! :thumbsup2

Your dinner at Via Napoli looks amazing. Maybe we should have Italian at Epcot instead of Mexican when we visit. Enjoying your reviews, great pics!

Pesky life, getting in the way of the DIS! ;)

Aw that is a great photo of you two in front of the fountain!

I'd LOVE to visit Italy one day! How amazing that you've been there so many times with your family.

Wow, that pizza is no joke!

Don't worry, I won't be hating. I love hearing about US TR's since i've never been there but would love to! Just can't pull myself out of the Disney bubble.:cool2:

YAY Katie a new post!!! :woohoo:

I love the Epcot resort area!!!!!!!! That just needs to be said... Often.

Aww don't worry Katie. The pillar adds substance to the photo. I'm not sure how, but it does. Think of the amazing back drop though.

I also LOVE the International Gateway. It was only a couple of years ago that I went through that for the first time. I've still never stayed in the resort area, but I always try to get over because, see comment #2.

Awwwwwww that video kinda reminded me of my birthday last year at Tutto Gusto in the Italy pavilion. Except it wasn't Italian men, not that there's anything wrong with that. ;)

:lmao: your picture behind the Pizza killed me!!! But I would probably have Jamie's expression.

And another reason I would love to stay at an Epcot resort. Pop into Italy, eat, see Illuminations, visit a few other countries, then back to the resort. A perfect evening. :dance3: :goodvibes

You got some great night pictures! They are so pretty! That pizza looks amazing. I'm glad it tasted as good as it looked.

Honestly, if the UK smelled like fish and chips, that would be okay. It's not a bad smell!

Glad to see you're back!

Hellooo and :welcome: !! Thanks so much for the kind words! :goodvibes

Aww yes there are sooo many different words over here, and different ways of spelling things (eg. favorite vs favourite) - I hope you guys will point things out that make no sense to you so that I can clarify!!

Thank you! As I've said before, I'm writing my TR for myself as well as to share my experience with others, and personally I love to have some music to play alongside reading! :cool1:

Oooh cool you're writing a TR!! Can't wait to read it :goodvibes

You're going to LOVE the Epcot resort area! It is so perfect :goodvibes it's so easy to just stroll around, or hop on a nice little boat to Hollywood Studios. I would definitely stay there again! Even more excited to read your TR now!

Aw you are so kind, thank you!! That is a great spot for FoF, definitely see if you can get a spot up at the station!

Hahaha, Sweet Dee does the BEST dry-heave ever.. It actually makes me feel slightly ill to watch it!

Ooh where abouts in the Mexico pavilion are you planning on eating? In 2012 we ate at La Hacienda de San Angel, and we were eating when IllumiNations came on. They have huuuge windows that you can see the whole show from, and they even turn down the lights and play the IllumiNations music into the restaurant!! And the food was pretty good too, we enjoyed that one :thumbsup2

I just have to follow along. You are adorable and hilarious.

Hey! Thanks so much!!! And :welcome: I'm glad you're enjoying it :goodvibes

Aw thank you! I'm hoping to get a few of the Photopass pictures printed and framed together, they were all so nice :goodvibes

It was definitely no joke!!! I'm thinking about ordering the BIGGER one next time just to marvel at it and take pictures of it..!

I'm glad you like hearing about Universal, we had such a good time there! You're right, it is hard to get yourself out of the Disney bubble! But as soon as you get there you just get lost in all the theming, I definitely recommend it! A lot of the rides are bigger/scarier than the rides at Disney, so maybe when your little prince would appreciate it more when he's a little older :goodvibes But there are still fun things to do with little ones if you were considering it sooner!

YAY Katie a new post!!! :woohoo:

We all love the Epcot resort area!!! Gosh, every comment about it makes me miss it even more. I feel like no matter where I stay in the future, I'll always make some time to go over there and get an ice cream from Beaches & Cream or something :goodvibes And, EXACTLY, we would get back from a busy day and Jamie would want to relax, so I would go shopping around World Showcase, PERFECTION!

Haha yes, it does add substance I suppose. I'll just tell people it was supposed to be artistic :thumbsup2

Hahaha I enjoyed the pizza pictures when I looked back at them too! I still cannot believe they do a bigger size. Ours was almost as big as our table! But I guess that's what you need after a busy day of park-touring!

You got some great night pictures! They are so pretty! That pizza looks amazing. I'm glad it tasted as good as it looked.

Honestly, if the UK smelled like fish and chips, that would be okay. It's not a bad smell!

Glad to see you're back!

Thank you! The pictures did turn out pretty well I guess, apart from the fireworks photos. Although it seems I got the hang of it for when we saw Wishes the following night :goodvibes

Blehh I thought the smell in the UK pavilion was AWFUL!! But since you say it's not bad, I'll hope that it's just me being extra sensitive :crazy2:

Thank you! I look forward to catching up on your TR!!

oh.....I love your fountain picture! so, so pretty!

that pizza at via Napoli looks so good, but is SO huge! I really want to eat there when we go back.

your pictures of the empty pavilions are so cool. I don't think we've ever seen it that empty anywhere in Disney!
